Counterfeit Hero

Like the North Star cruiser gliding on ice, it came to an abrupt stop.

Its cold, steel hull had just traced a 180-degree semicircle in the void.

Though such maneuvering, in the critical and biased eyes of the officers and soldiers of the Saleria Longbow Fleet, was still somewhat clumsy, with the stern swaying uncontrollably and the rotation angle not quite right... the North Star still effortlessly brought the Ragged Fleet’s left front flank within the thirty-degree fire range of its main gun.

At the same time, the pirate Phoenix destroyer circling from the opposite direction completed the same move.

The two warships, one on the left and one on the right, trapped the Ragged Fleet like a pair of pincers.

The Ragged Fleet completely ignored the pirates’ flanking circles. It wasn’t until they stubbornly tore apart the remaining two armed merchant ships and an escort ship of the pirate fleet with savage gunfire that they began to leisurely turn the rudder.

People watched in silence as they aimed their bow bit by bit toward the North Star cruiser. Confronting directly without a hint of concession!

Everyone let out a long sigh. These broken warships seemed completely unaware of the disparity between them and a fully equipped military cruiser! They were so stubborn and tough; they even tried to confront the North Star head-on at the last moment!

Amid the starlit sky, illuminated by the explosions of the pirate ships’ secondary detonations, the six tattered warships pivoting their bows fiercely made everything in the battleship fall silent. The gentle hum of the life support system sounded as if it was a world away.

After a brief moment of distraction, all the officers and soldiers, including Fang Xiang, involuntarily stood at attention with solemnity.

Before them, this Ragged Fleet had earned the respect of everyone present!

They had killed enemies four times their number. They fought to the death knowing they would lose. They possessed every quality of an Iron Blood Warrior! They had unyielding spirits; they were honorable even in defeat!

More importantly, it was this fleet’s appearance that brought life to the Valor Battleship! When the Valor Battlesship had disengaged from combat and entered the outer channel of the pirate base, it was this Ragged Fleet that fought gallantly among the pirates, undefeated!

No matter who they were or what their purpose was, this was an act of grace!

In the battleship, the officers and soldiers stood in silent formation. Their eyes beheld the virtual screen with intense brightness. This was a moment of profound mutual respect between heroes, a farewell between warriors.

Suddenly, with the virtual screen brightening abruptly, the stern-faced officers simultaneously opened their mouths wide. They rubbed their eyes, their expressions turning peculiar in an instant.

Standing on the command deck, Fang Xiang, who had been silent and dignified, leaned forward sharply in shock. Her hands gripped the command deck railing tightly, her ample chest beneath her uniform rising and falling violently with her rapid breathing.

Her pink lips bit tightly, cheeks flushing with anger and shame. Fang Xiang felt as if she had been hit, her mind filled with stars.

”We were tricked again!”

Behind the North Star cruiser, several drifting and rolling cruiser wrecks simultaneously lit up with the unique blue ion trails of their thrusters and rapidly formed into a neat Triangle Attack Formation in an instant.

.....Four, five, six, seven! Seven wrecks of different sizes turned into seven independent warships! Although their appearance remained pitiful, their agility was no longer that of half-lifeless wrecks but that of seven lively opossums jumping, darting left and right.

In the close-up shot, the blazing Fierce Fire on the damaged hulls had extinguished, the twisted armors and torn shells had been cast aside. After shaking off all the debris, these seven warships of different sizes grinned savagely and bit into the unguarded rear of the North Star like a dead opossum springing back to life.

The cruiser, detecting something amiss, quickly performed an evasive tail maneuver, thrusters at full power, attempting to accelerate and flee.

Unfortunately, it had fallen into a meticulously planned trap!

From the front awaited two armed merchant ships and four escort ships of the Ragged Fleet, while from the rear, seven warships!

Soundlessly, the North Star cruiser found itself besieged from all sides!

The Ragged Fleet did not give the North Star any chance. The fully charged Energy Cannons fired simultaneously, the intertwined light masses at the muzzles shot forth swiftly after a brief stagnation.

Seven Energy Cannons, combining into a thick, straight beam of white light in the dark universe, pierced the stern of the North Star cruiser head-on!

The violent explosion engulfed the entire rear half of the North Star cruiser, its thrusters shattered within an instant.

Upon seeing space mechas spewing out of one of the warships, everyone aboard the battleship realized these guys were attempting to capture the North Star. The officers covered their faces, howling in agony.

”Too despicable!”

”Shameless!”

”These damned bastards!”

Fang Xiang turned her head dumbly, looking out the left porthole...

The reconnaissance ship still flashed its signal lights tirelessly, flying back and forth.

”I have lots and lots of energy!”
