Beneath the Red Dragon

Chapter 317: Chapter 116: The Origin of Bloodline Evolution

Even though several days have passed since the Annual Rest Day, the atmosphere within the territory has gradually calmed down, yet the events of the Annual Rest Day are always a topic of lively discussion among the residents.

The free provision of drinks and food, the intense competitions and gladiatorial arenas, the open-air grand bathhouses—these activities that the masses can personally engage in make them thoroughly enjoy the festivities.

Those who have witnessed the true appearance of the Giant Dragons will enthusiastically boast to outsiders and those who couldn’t participate in the celebration.

And the fireworks that light up the night sky, echoing throughout the territory daily at set times, have gradually become the chimes for people’s waking and sleeping.

Then there’s the singing that always resonates through the mountains, and the Giant Dragon Hall that has gradually become a sacred place for the Warriors. The Tree of Life that daily exudes the breath of nature and life, among others.

All these make the residents of the territory start to gradually form a concept of nation, a concept of culture.

Even if it’s still thin, it’s like seeds buried under moist soil, gradually taking root and sprouting.

People have started to not fear the Giant Dragons from the depths of their hearts, with many viewing the Dragon Group residing in the high mountains as the Divine Spirits spreading civilization, the Giant Dragons walking the earth as wise rulers.

These residents merge the divinity and humanity in their hearts, granting the dragons atop the peaks of the mountains a dazzling glow, even if it’s just a one-sided beautiful wish.

White Dragon Gomot ambled along, folding his wings as he walked through the city he presided over and established.

The broad streets were wide enough to accommodate several Giant Dragons walking at the same time, so White Dragon Gomot wasn’t worried that his enormous stature would cause any trouble.

Even though the city was still under expansion, those merchants adept at speculation had long occupied the street shops in the well-repaired city center.

And there were vendors pushing carts with wheels, selling their goods along the streets. These vendors were generally not dedicated merchants, but residents of the city and villagers from nearby villages setting up mobile stalls to supplement their household income.

Some dogman soldiers responsible for maintaining city order would patrol back and forth on the streets especially crowded with mobile stalls, occasionally loudly stopping vendors occupying major thoroughfares with their stalls, to ensure the flow of traffic.

White Dragon Gomot swaggered along the way, occasionally nodding to residents who dared to greet the Giant Dragon proactively.

A few personal guards draped in armor followed behind him, a privilege every Giant Dragon Lord would have.

Although it was hard to say whether these personal guards were protecting the White Dragon or vice versa, the intrinsic soul power of creatures shouldn’t be overlooked, as sometimes even insignificant individuals can create miracles, let alone these powerful warriors.

However, for now, the only function of these personal guards is to pull out bulging money bags from their pockets to pay for anything White Dragon Gomot fancies, and to serve as relentless carrying machines.

Even though the items and food used by ordinary creatures might seem little to Giant Dragons, they can still serve as ornaments and snacks for the dragons.

Soon, the few personal guards behind him, with hands and shoulders laden, were already fully loaded, and the white cloak stained with oil carried a strong smell of grease.

These personal guards were almost dressed like the Imperial Guard Warriors, the only difference being the white cloak behind them. The dragons in the Dragon Group were quite envious of Karon’s notably brave Imperial Guard Warriors, initiating a series of imitative actions.

According to regulations, each Giant Dragon Lord could have a personal guard of up to a hundred people, but White Dragon Gomot wasn’t in a hurry to fill his personal guard’s quota.

On the night of Annual Rest, after hearing the aspiration of the Master of the Dragon Clans, this White Dragon had already conceived thoughts of capturing some Frost Giants to serve as his slaves and personal guards.

In the Dragon Group Territory, at the edge of the vast grassland, lies the Frozen Icefield in the Far North, the source of the grassland’s water veins originating from that barren land of ice and snow.

But even in the most barren places, life will appear, finding its own path.

In that perennial ice-covered land, with glaciers stretching endlessly, there are powerful predators and rulers, with many White Dragon Tribes living in that area.

Moreover, on the Northern Continent, the one and only White Dragon with a name, Ice Prison Saclese, dominates the numerous white dragons and is in constant warfare with the other faction, Frost Giants, in the Frost Wasteland.

Though the White Dragon, reputed to turn the earth into an icy Hell, is sufficiently strong, the King of Frost Giants, the strongest monarch among the Frost Giants, also possesses the power to challenge the Legend.

But no one is clear about the true power of this Frost Giant King, as no one dares to easily tread into the territory ruled by Frost Giants, let alone challenge this royal overlord.

The only reference to achievements is the tale sung by minstrels on the Northern Continent about a single axe strike slaying an adult White Dragon.

Overall, even though the battles in the Far North are relentless, the White Dragon Tribe still finds itself at a disadvantage. Despite the White Dragons being able to fly, holding airborne initiative.

The Frost Giant species possesses power capable of clashing head-on with dragons; the weapons and stones they throw can easily shoot down those dragons who are less cautious.
