As one Foot Knight after another was killed, rapid footsteps echoed from behind Gu Xi, as if someone was hurrying from the direction of Yalidov City.

Gu Xi looked back and saw a gray aura on the ground, followed by a man with bluish-gray skin and eyes like pearls, walking slowly in Gu Xi’s direction.

The man wore the most ordinary leather armor and had no helmet on his head, but his wrists and hands were encased in bracers and gloves larger than a normal person’s head, and on his back, he carried seven or eight weapons including a long spear, dual swords, a two-handed sword, and a shield.

From afar, it was as if he had strapped an entire armory onto himself.

Gu Xi immediately recognized that this was the Dietrich previously killed, transformed by Gu Xi’s Double Death into the entity now coming from within Yalidov City.

However, compared to the heroes Gu Xi had previously transformed, this one was clearly different.

[Dietrich (Level 20, Summoned Creature, Undead Leader): Experience (0/50000), Attack 13, Defense 9, Life 225, Mana 70, Talent: War Arsenal (after Level 5, with each level up, all soldiers’ weapon quality +1), Skills: Defense Skill Level 5, Offensive Skill Level 5, Leadership Skill Level 6, Armor-Piercing Aura Level 1 (within aura range, enemy defense power decreases by 10% per second), Leader (can simultaneously command 3500 soldiers + 7 heroes + 14 boss units).]

Upon reaching Gu Xi, Dietrich seriously bowed his head.

”Sir.”

Dietrich’s voice was somewhat shrill, sounding not quite male.

Gu Xi heard this voice and couldn’t help but frown slightly.

”You came at the right time. Now join the battle. If there’s a unit you fancy, you can choose it first. I wonder if you’ve heard about what I promised earlier?”

”I have heard, sir promised that the one with the highest achievements this time can obtain the Black Dragon Camp Battle Banner placed in front of Yalidov City.”

Dietrich naturally understood what Gu Xi referred to, and calmly said, ”I don’t need the Black Dragon Camp Battle Banner. An entire camp isn’t my goal, though I do have a thought: Sir possesses the ability to transform killed beings into entities within Yalidov City.

Can I pick a hero from there when the time comes?”

”Hero?”

Gu Xi asked, somewhat curious.

”Yes, among the ten heroes I led back then, nine were just fillers, but one hero I really need. I hope sir could grant me this favor.”

”Alright.”

Gu Xi nodded; in this battle, at least twenty heroes would be accounted for, so losing one hero didn’t trouble Gu Xi.

On the contrary, if Dietrich only has such a small request, then he could unleash great combat strength, which is surely a good thing.

”Thank you, sir.”

Upon hearing Gu Xi’s words, Dietrich smiled happily, then glanced at the battlefield, drawing two longswords from his back with his reverse hand, and directly charged into battle.

As he plunged into the fray, Dietrich shouted loudly.

”All follow me into battle!”

Upon hearing these words, Gu Xi noticed many unaffiliated undead soldiers raising their weapons along with Dietrich.

Under their feet, grayish auras quickly appeared.

Meanwhile, their weapons noticeably transformed into gray.

This was clearly influenced by Dietrich’s traits.

With Gu Xi’s opponents, there were also auras appearing under their feet, but under these auras, noticeable cracks appeared in their armor.

This contrast, plus Gu Xi’s superior undead numbers, turned the tide significantly in Gu Xi’s favor.

Additionally, Gu Xi’s undead vastly outnumbered the enemy’s forces.

The situation swiftly reversed towards Gu Xi.

At this point, Gu Xi no longer needed to step forward to direct the battle; the scene had transformed to a point where Gu Xi’s heroes chased after the enemy units.

Of course, there were still some Level 10 and above soldiers under the direction of several heroes resisting stubbornly on the enemy side.

But they clearly couldn’t hold out for long.

Gu Xi’s unsuspecting undead had easily found methods to deal with the enemy.

The fact that the Level 19 Foot Knights were killed by the Skeleton Shooters proved that high levels but fewer numbers were ineffective.

Several undead heroes specially grouped the Skeleton Shooter teams with some Corpse Witch units for large-scale arrow rains and gas attacks against the enemy.

Meanwhile, zombies were used to prevent enemy advancement.

With such tactics, even the Level 10 and above enemies were suppressed, and some heroes even led troops charging into the enemy’s battle array. If the foe hadn’t reacted promptly, their charge might have scattered the enemy’s array entirely.

Seeing the circumstance, Gu Xi finally breathed a sigh of relief.

This battle, for Gu Xi, was basically over.

He stood, glanced towards where the enemy army had come from, and deliberated seriously, activating the effect of the Eye of the Soul.

”Dietrich, was it just your unit from the Great Monarch’s side this time?”

Dietrich, transformed directly after death, retained his memory.

He promptly responded to Gu Xi’s inquiry.

”Yes, I am responsible for finding the apples appearing in the Mirror Image Underground Palace. Once they identify the apple’s direction, I lead a team to retrieve the apple, since only I undertake this task, nobody ever monitors my whereabouts.”

Upon this, Gu Xi obviously sighed in relief.

Currently, Yalidov City wasn’t ready to be exposed.

With only Dietrich noticing this place, it was just a matter of cleaning it up.

Gu Xi looked up at the battlefield, secretly making a gesture for total extermination.

He then asked.

”How many apples have you retrieved before?”

”Three, not all apples count; furthermore, the Brits know that apples are vital to them, so they prefer losing a few royals over allowing apples in the Mirror Image Underground Palace.

Plus, apples don’t emit any specific aura before sprouting, only detected upon sprouting, so all these years, only three were found and occupied.”
