However, as the carriage passed certain places, Gu Xi slowly noticed that things seemed to be a bit off.

The surroundings became more eerie, and most importantly, nearby there were many visibly abandoned high-rise buildings. Inside each building, there was no sign of life; instead, they were filled with a kind of death qi.

As an experienced Undead Mage, Gu Xi could clearly sense that this death qi was not ordinary.

There was evidently a strong sense of resentment in it.

”Master, you’ve taken the wrong direction, haven’t you?”

”This is a shortcut, rest assured, Bailian City has this kind of style. I won’t charge you extra.”

”No, this route is clearly wrong. I know Bailian City is known for its undead, but I’m not stupid. Look over there, every window is filled with women in red clothes.

Don’t tell me that’s some red line.”

Although Gu Xi clearly noticed something was wrong, he had been through so much that his heart was now completely calm, and the scene before him didn’t seem like much.

At this moment, he was just puzzled about how Bailian City’s underground could connect to him.

”Haha, I enjoy exchanging jokes with people like you.

It seems you’ve already realized what you’re facing. Hand over the money and resources you’re carrying obediently.

We’ll let you live. Otherwise, just look around.

We found a piece of abandoned gameplay here. Enter here, and we either let you out,

or you have to kill us all; otherwise, there’s simply no way out.”

Upon hearing this, Gu Xi already knew there was no use in negotiating.

They claimed he could be let out upon handing over his money.

This was obviously a lie.

The other party had already brought him directly to their base.

This clearly gave him no escape.

Faced with such enemies, Gu Xi had no further interest in pondering how he ended up encountering such a Black Guild.

He raised his leg and heavily kicked open the carriage door, then flipped and jumped off the high-speed moving carriage.

As soon as he landed, the carriage, which was charging forward, came to a halt.

”You’ve made the worst choice; even I wouldn’t dare to get off the carriage here. Do you know what getting off here means?

It means you’ll face all the undead here head-on.

You might not know what kind of undead these are.

Let me tell...”

The carriage driver’s speech was cut short as his eyes widened.

Just as he said, the moment Gu Xi landed, all the attention of the vengeful spirits and resentful ghosts in the vicinity focused on Gu Xi.

But Gu Xi did not react with fear as he imagined; instead, he calmly stared at the various undead flying out from the surrounding abandoned buildings.

He even seemed interested in counting the number of undead.

It was like entering a treasure trove.

In such circumstances, the carriage driver who brought Gu Xi in naturally sensed something was off.

He felt for the first time that perhaps he had made a mistake.

”Su You, what’s happening?”

A voice came from the top of a building nearby.

The carriage driver disregarded Gu Xi right by his side and quickly explained.

”President, the fat sheep jumped off on his own, but his reaction is off.”

”What does it matter if the reaction is off, as long as he’s confronted. He’s from out of town, heading towards the Elf direction, got the scent of fruit trees on him. If the intel isn’t wrong, this is our target we bought.

Quickly kill him; our sacrifice ceremony is about to start, and we haven’t prepared the offering yet.”

Upon hearing this, the carriage driver finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Listening to this, Gu Xi couldn’t help but slap his forehead.

What’s going on here? Why does he always encounter people who don’t think things through?

Do they have something wrong?

Seeing Gu Xi so calmly standing there, it was clear he wasn’t afraid of them.

What exactly are they planning to do now?

In fact, Gu Xi didn’t know that this encounter with these people was entirely accidental.

These people belonged to a hidden Black Guild, not the forces near the train station.

The reason for their existence was quite peculiar because they’ve been dragged into the game for too long.

Many veteran players have been through so many games, having killed too much in the game. Their spirit began to twist.

Especially in undead-oriented cities like Bailian City.

Why do students get assigned to various guilds for three years upon graduation?

It’s to lay a solid foundation through guild inheritance within three years, preventing players’ spirit from twisting and avoiding a wrong step.

But no matter how well the guild handles things, some players inevitably make wrong choices.

Gradually, some players think, since they’re already deep in the game and can’t leave Creation, why not just become a character within the game.

Only this way can players survive within the game continuously.

Actually, there are still quite a few players who follow this path.

Even some Black Guilds operating on the edge of the law, players wanting to level up without opportunities, would willingly choose this path.

After twisting themselves, their situations would more closely resemble game characters.

The advantage of doing so is they would have levels beyond normal abilities in some games.

Say, for example, a player whose talent level cap is about Level 4 and who might never reach Level 5.

But in a particular game, his strength can reach Level 15 or even Level 20.

Only once out of that game, his strength would revert to its original level.

To some, they would naturally choose to be a Level 20 game character while in the game.

The consequence of this path is that their connection to the game would deepen gradually.

Most importantly, part of their thoughts would change to be like game characters.

Even though Gu Xi and Luna were having fine exchanges now, Gu Xi clearly knew he was a player, and Luna was an NPC.

And these players weren’t like that; in their mindset, they could be both players and game characters.

So their thoughts might appear unnatural.

No matter if there’s a problem or not, seeing enemies definitely calls for a fight.

Whether they win or lose is another matter. If they don’t fight, it dishonors their identity.

So sometimes their actions seem rather stupid.

To some deeply invested players, they might only remember two rules.

Don’t fight on the streets; if encountering enemies in the game, kill them directly.

In other respects, asking them to understand might as well have them choose how to level up and strengthen combat abilities in the game.

The players Gu Xi encountered now were in such a situation, with circumstances even more dire, as these players had gathered to form a Black Guild that misleads players, practically turning into a Doomsday Cult-type organization.

At that time, it would pose a tremendous problem for any city.

To ensure the secrecy of the Black Guild, any outsiders contacting them must die.

The moment Gu Xi sat on the carriage, the game animation had begun.

As long as they’re not hitting the blood, they wouldn’t back off even if things went awry; instead, they’d charge ahead tenaciously, with better effect than using War Shackles.

Before Gu Xi even took action, the Black Guild president on the rooftop shouted loudly.

”Go! Devour him for me!”
