Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 948: Chapter 946: The Killer Elevator in the Castle

Is there really such a good thing?

Seeing the prompt in front of him, Gu Xi understood immediately what kind of situation he had encountered.

This was clearly the situation when taking over a wild barrack. With this in mind, Gu Xi’s gaze toward the Screaming Castle changed.

If all the barracks here are like this, then it truly is a treasure trove.

Thinking about the Twisted Blood Slaves, Mad Blood Beasts, and Vampire Cavalry that had previously attacked, perhaps there are corresponding barracks inside this Screaming Castle as well.

This thought made Gu Xi’s eyes light up. He placed his hand on the Eye of the Soul and began issuing orders to the heroes and bosses already deep inside the Screaming Castle.

”Search thoroughly, call for support if you find a barrack, and make sure to take everything in this castle.”

Under Gu Xi’s orders, the commotion from his troops exploring the Screaming Castle was more noticeable. Every door would be carefully pushed open, and as soon as one wave of soldiers left, another might come in.

Sometimes, they even measured the size of the rooms, estimating whether there might be other hidden spaces behind them.

However, since the Screaming Castle had been abandoned and had collapsed extensively, many rooms had partly caved in, making accurate calculations difficult.

At times, they calculated that there should be space behind a room, but no matter how much they dug, they only found large amounts of dirt.

If this were other troops, the morale would have dropped to the lowest.

But Gu Xi’s subordinates were all Undead; they had no morale and wouldn’t tire.

If one type of Undead couldn’t do it, they would switch to another type. Eventually, some inconspicuous detail would be found in the rooms.

After giving the order, Gu Xi waited in the hall for results.

Anything brought back by the Undead would naturally pass in front of him.

With Gu Xi’s battle-hardened experience, he could tell at a glance that they hadn’t yet reached the key location. The things brought out thus far were merely some dark red mud soaked in blood and some corroded furniture or decorations, all carrying Yin Qi or Negative Energy.

These things, if sent back to Yalidov City, would only serve as soft furnishings.

They couldn’t even be considered qualified building materials.

However, Gu Xi wasn’t in a hurry; they had just entered the Screaming Castle, and this was only the beginning. Who knew what other valuable things lay beneath it?

To deal with the materials the Undead had dug out, Gu Xi summoned some Undead responsible for appraising and sorting them on the spot.

He instructed them to sort through them on the scene, sending back those needed by Yalidov City or high-quality ones first.

The rest would be piled in the hall, and he planned to see if they might still be useful after taking over the Screaming Castle.

As Gu Xi was handling these findings, Hero Mido suddenly sent back information.

”My lord, there’s a major discovery.”

Hearing the message, Gu Xi’s eyes lit up too.

He had witnessed Mido’s ability to scout, and if Mido said there was a major discovery, it surely was something extraordinary.

Thus, Gu Xi handed over his current tasks and headed toward Mido’s location with his subordinates.

Although it was impossible to use the Holy Silver Evil Coffin to move within the Screaming Castle, Gu Xi’s speed wasn’t slow.

Meanwhile, he had plenty of Power to protect him.

With a combat squad of Converted Undead, while Gu Xi hadn’t brought all of them, he did bring a third. Additionally, several Hellhounds were by his side to deal with unexpected situations.

Because of this, even though Gu Xi knew the Screaming Castle wasn’t fully under control, he wasn’t too concerned about his safety.

Following the route Mido had left, Gu Xi quickly found his way into a collapsed tower.

There he discovered a large multi-functional elevator that could move downward.

The elevator wasn’t too big, and no cabin protected its sides, making it possible to observe the automatic ascending and descending process from above.

When Gu Xi arrived, Mido was already waiting by the elevator.

Upon seeing Gu Xi, Mido approached immediately.

”My lord, it will take about three minutes for the elevator to come up.”

Gu Xi walked to the edge of the elevator and looked down, seeing a platform gradually ascending from the depths of the elevator shaft.

Curiously, Gu Xi asked, ”What’s the situation?”

”This is an elevator shaft over three thousand meters deep, with no stops in the middle. It takes three minutes to descend, with three-minute pauses at both ends.

If you’re brave enough, you can jump straight down in the middle.

But there are two problems.

From such a height, unless one can fly, anything that jumps down would be crushed.

Moreover, when the elevator descends, you must not stand under the shaft, for the descending platform won’t care if there are people below. Moving at a speed of one thousand meters per minute, the platform can crush everything it sees below.”

Mido explained the situation at the elevator shaft.

In his description, this elevator shaft was essentially a deadly elevator.

There was no such mode of transportation in Yalidov City, so after listening, Gu Xi couldn’t help but ask, ”Have you been down there?”

”I’ve been down once; otherwise, I wouldn’t have called you over. My lord, I think we may have found a treasure.”

Listening to Mido’s mysterious words, Gu Xi was somewhat curious. He too wanted to know what the situation was below the elevator.

While Gu Xi and Mido were discussing the elevator, the elevator platform completed its rise.

Once the platform came to rest at the top of the shaft, Gu Xi understood why Mido described it as dangerous.

What he saw was essentially a massive circular stone slab about thirty meters in diameter.

Standing on the circular slab, one could distinctly feel a slight sway underfoot.

Gu Xi even felt that if he wasn’t standing precisely at the center, a slight misstep could cause the slab to flip, sending him tumbling off it.

Fortunately, at that moment, both Mido and Gu Xi’s subordinates stepped forward.

Gu Xi noticed that no matter how many people came up, the slab didn’t appear to flip.

This reassured Gu Xi considerably, though he was already contemplating an idea.

If there really was something valuable below, then he would dismantle this elevator.

Three thousand meters of height is nothing.

There’s truly no need to use something like this; Gu Xi could arrange other methods of access. Besides, whatever Gu Xi might plan would surely be more reliable than this perilous elevator, wouldn’t it?
