Chapter 1350: Noelʼs Intention

”Khalid… Have you heard about… homunculus?”

”Homunculus?” Khalid furrowed his eyebrows.

”Yes. Iʼm talking about a humanoid body that is not human.” Noel nodded.

”Oh!” Khalid seemed to understand what Noel was trying to say. ”Before talking about it, may I know what the purpose of this research is, my lord? Although Iʼm loyal to you… No, itʼs because Iʼm loyal to you that I donʼt plan to do anything that will harm you. If you are planning to use this research to harm yourself or others, I canʼt comply.”

Noel thought for a moment before saying, ”This is a secret that you have to bring to your grave.”

”I swear upon my spirit,” Khalid swore to Noel without hesitation. The moment he broke this vow, the spirit seal would disappear and the spiritual energy in his heart would destroy his body and kill him.

It showed how much Khalid trusted Noel.

Seeing that spontaneous vow, Noel couldnʼt help but sit down while extending his hand. ”How about checking my body?”

Khalid frowned, not understanding why he wanted to do it. He could speculate like Noel trying to live forever by using the homunculus, but he had to make sure what he was trying to achieve by inspecting his body.

The moment Khalid used his spiritual energy to check Noelʼs body, he couldnʼt help but widen his eyes in shock. ”This… my lord… You…”

”Did you find anything?” Noel asked calmly, expecting this kind of reaction.

Khalid soon regained his composure and explained. ”Iʼm not entirely sure. However, the flow of your spiritual energy is something I have never seen before. However, some parts still resemble that of a normal personʼs flow. What is going on…”

Noel smiled wryly. ”I am not a full human anymore.”

”Not a full human? Donʼt tell me. You have become a demonic human?!” Khalid took a step back.

”Do you think my pride will allow me to become something lower than livestock?” Noel glared at him.

”My apologies. Then…”

”I have fused with my spirit.” Noel took a deep breath. ”Iʼm basically a half-spirit, half-human.”

”!!!” He gasped. There were a lot of questions in his mind, but Noel continued, ”Itʼs been a year. It was during the time I met an ancient demon when Anna and I were still spirit grandmasters.

”I will leave out the process for now, but I happen to become a half-spirit because of that incident.

”Although there are a lot of benefits and flaws, the most important thing is my lifespan. I will surely live past the humanʼs age. Maybe… in the future, you will see me still not aging when youʼre already on your deathbed.”

”Now that I think about it, you have truly not aged. Well, even if itʼs just a short amount of time, your body or facial features should change a little. But I notice that not a single thing has changed after you mention it.” Khalid squinted his eyes.

”And there you have it, you should know what would happen if I can live that long, right?”

Khalid crossed his arms. ”First of all, you will soon have a different perspective of lifespan. However, I donʼt think youʼre thinking about it. Instead, it will be something about politics.

”The kingdom is assuming that you will leave this world in 70-90 years. But if you are still this young even after almost a century, the kingdom canʼt definitely leave you alone.”

”Yes. Thatʼs why I will be living here for that amount of time, casually and leisurely. Once that time passes, Iʼm planning to leave the Ardagan family and explore the entire world. Itʼs said that our world is vast. I want to see the entire world and find the remaining people who manage to survive from the demons.

”And to do that, I personally donʼt need it, but thereʼs someone who will worry about me, you see.”

”Madam Anna!” Khalid finally understood where the conversation was going.

”Yes. The reason Iʼm asking you about this secret project is to prepare a body for her. Once her lifespan is over, itʼs time for us to leave the family and venture outside. And to do that, we require a body.

”With this purpose, do you think you can do it?” Noel asked.

”…” Khalid fell silent. No one knew what would happen to Noel if he were left alone for hundreds of years. Even if he had descendants, no one would understand how lonely it was. That was why Anna would be there for him. Not only could he accompany him, but she could also fight alongside him.

Khalid closed his eyes for a moment before saying, ”I understand. I will do it. Itʼll be an extremely hard project or even close to impossible. However, itʼs not entirely impossible.

”There are three major problems that you need to tackle. The first one is the body. To function similarly to humans, the organs need to be there. For example, how are you going to beat the heart? An artificial heart needs to be created, one that can last extremely long or forever.

”Or how about the ears? Even if I imitate the ears, the organs inside your ears are the ones responsible for perceiving the sound. Without being able to replicate it, it wonʼt be enough. Of course, brain too.

”Hence, I will have to work on the organs, which is probably the hardest problem.

”The second problem is the spirit seal. Since Iʼll be using silicone to create the external body, the spirit seal might not recognize this creation as a human. And the spiritual energy might not work in this new body. Hence, I have to find a way to familiarize this body with spiritual energy. Even if the spirits are impossible, the body should be able to utilize the spiritual energy.

”The last problem will be the soul. Even if I manage to tackle the first two problems, we need to find a way to bring the soul into this body.” Khalid explained.
