Chapter 1330: Badge

Because the ring that his ancestor left behind had been given to the saintess, Noel laid down the remaining items for Ardagan.

”These are the items I received from my ancestors. The last item was a ring given to the person with the Moon Goddess.”

Ardagan recognized all of them. ”I know everything. However, I donʼt think I have to explain this key here. After all, itʼs the Ardagan family treasury. I see that thereʼs a small scratch that appeared not long ago. So, you must have gone to the treasury, right?”

”Yes.” Noel nodded. ”Well, I have given Lilyʼs armor to Incetta. As for the rest, Iʼm not sure how to distribute them.”

”Regarding your plan to distribute, it is not something I should comment on.” Ardagan paused for a moment. ”The only opinion I can express is regarding these three items. I wonder if you wish for me to explain about the scroll or the badge first.”

”Only those two? Not the Black Cube?”

”Thereʼs not much for me to explain regarding the Black Cube. Itʼs not an inheritance but a test left behind by him.”

”A test?” Noel raised his eyebrows.

”Yes. A test to become a spirit king.”

”!!!” Noel widened his eyes in shock. ”Spirit King, you say? Youʼre not joking?”

”Yes. If you want to become a spirit king, you should be able to open that cube. The path of the spirit king is unique, but there is still a similarity between one king and another. And that similarity is the key to becoming one in the first place.

”Hence, this is probably the biggest clue you can get if you wish to become a spirit king. Unfortunately, I canʼt say much regarding the spirit king because my words might influence your path.

”All I can say is that you work with that cube and open it if you wish to become a spirit king. However, donʼt underestimate the kingʼs path. Even with your talent, I donʼt know if you can open it within a year.”

Noel felt chills down his spine. He never thought Ardagan would have such a low expectation.

However, he heard Ardagan continue, ”For lower levels, getting the ena might be the hardest requirement. But as you grow stronger, the balance will tip the other way around. In other words, getting the ena is actually the easiest way. Finding the way to reach the next level is the hardest. Iʼm sure you can feel the extreme shift when trying to reach the spirit transcendence rank.”

”Thatʼs true… I see…” Noel closed his eyes for a moment. ”In that case, I will work on it to the best of my ability.”

”In that case, please choose the next item.”

”Hmm?” Noel looked down, falling into deep thought. He gradually pointed his finger at the badge. ”How about this?”

”The badge, huh? In that case, please put my scabbard near it.”

”Scabbard?” Noel raised his eyebrows. He followed Ardaganʼs instruction. To his surprise, the moment he held the scabbard just right above the badge, the badge started to emit a faint black light.

The scabbard suddenly released its flame and devoured the badge.

”Itʼs burning the badge? Is it going to destroy it?” Noel asked, not knowing what Ardagan was trying to do.

”Please calm down and raise your head. You will understand whatʼs actually going on.”

”!!!” Noel lifted his head up and saw the system panel, which completely astounded him.

[Medal Slot +1]

[Profession +1]

”Huh?” Noel couldnʼt believe what he had just seen. ”Medal Slot? Profession?”

Noel looked at his system and noticed there was an empty third slot. With this, he could actually activate his third medal.

At the same time, there was something that piqued his interest.

”This is…” Noel stood up in shock. ”Ardagan. Explain!”

If Ardagan were a human, he would have smirked as if he were amused by Noelʼs reaction.

Ardagan simply said, ”You should have known that my body has been split into three, right?”

”Yes. The sword, the scabbard, and the eye.”

”Yes. When your great ancestor wielded me, I was complete. Then, your great ancestor passed me down to your ancestor, who built this family.

”However, due to the traitor as well as the appearance of the demon kings, I broke into three with the traitor stealing the third fragment, which is the eye of a magic sword.

”In my complete form, I could activate the full version of the medallion system. In other words, you should be able to get three professions at once, along with the three medals.

”It can be said that each profession will give you a medal. But because Iʼm broken, Iʼm unable to provide for you as such.

”Your ancestors realized this. Finding the traitor was impossible in the past. Hence, he actually asked me to remain like this so that I could become the bait so that the traitor would return and try to take it.

”At the same time, this solution actually provided one unexpected benefit. Because I was in this state, I managed to improve myself. If you look at your current medal, you should be able to see it… the fact that I, now, can host four medals at once.

”Hence, your ancestor sealed me inside and gave me the time to recuperate and improve myself.

”He gave the scabbard to the demihumans so that when the time came, you would find out about it so that in case you chose something like a noble, you could pick another profession.

”However, even he didnʼt predict that the Muivell Kingdom would be reduced to such a state, making it impossible for you to find out about the beast kingdom easily if you donʼt have enough strength. Well, thatʼs also my job. I will be the one giving you the strength to get it, if thatʼs the case.”
