Chapter 1304 Weapon

The Fire Lord was meeting with the noble sent by the central government, Marquis Doraen.

”So, do you have a plan?” The Fire Lord crossed his arms.

”I have. Youʼre lacking a weapon to hit the acting lord, right? Look at this.” Doraen showed the document to him.

The Fire Lord frowned. ”Is this…”

”The Ardagan familyʼs law. As you already know, the lord is allowed to create some laws independently according to their development and policy as long as they donʼt cross with the kingdomʼs law.”

”Indeed. Then, this is…” The Fire Lord skimmed the documents. ”Is this the real one?”

”Yes. I have checked it multiple times and have not seen any error. There is a signature of the lord as well, meaning we can use this to hit that brat.

”Meritocracy is indeed adopted by our kingdom, but there is one thing that will cause a conflict not with this kingdom but with the Atracaeca Kingdom.

”If you look at Clause 32, Section B, it says, ʼAll subjects within the Ardagan family will be measured by merits.ʼ

”It looked like it wasnʼt a big deal at first, but the problem would be with its application. Tristan was a slave. Hence, he wasnʼt supposed to be subjected to this law.

”After all, in the Atracaeca Kingdom, a slave was deprived of their right like a normal citizen. In addition, I heard that Noel Ardagan took him away forcefully, meaning that he didnʼt process the necessary steps to abolish his slave status.

”As a result, he was still considered a slave since coming to the Muivell Kingdom didnʼt miraculously erase that status.

”Normally, people wouldnʼt think much about it because there was no guarantee that Tristan was being protected by the law.

”However, the biggest mistake Noel had made was to put him in charge of the family as the acting lord. Thatʼs right. If the acting lord isnʼt protected by the laws, theyʼre not legitimate.

”On the other hand, if they say they are bound by laws, it means Noel Ardagan has been using this law to forcefully remove his discipleʼs slave status. As a result, it will create a conflict of interest between the Muivell Kingdom and the Atracaeca Kingdom.

”Hence, not only will it remove any control of the family that Tristan has, but they also canʼt appoint a new acting lord. This will freeze the movement of the Ardagan family.”

The Fire Lord listened to his words carefully and nodded his head. ”If thatʼs the case, I can use this as an excuse to conduct an experiment without the Ardagan familyʼs permission. After all, there is no legitimate acting lord, and this city doesnʼt have a mayor.

”Even that brat canʼt use the imperial law as an excuse to stop me.” The Fire Lord grinned, finally finding a path to take the Ardagan family down.

”Yes. What are you planning to do once you have that right?”

”Of course. According to the agreement between the royal family and the Tower Association, the Tower Association will seize as many rune technologies as possible. In exchange for some autonomy and a few rune technologies, the royal family will receive at least a few rune technologies, such as the car, trucks, the water storage system, the rune boat, and the train.”

Doraen nodded his head, satisfied. ”Great. It seems we can work together.”

”Yes. Letʼs take down the Ardagan family. Still, I have to make sure I learn this one so that I donʼt mess up. Give me a day. Weʼll confront the Ardagan family tomorrow afternoon.”

Both of them exchanged nods, coming to an agreement.

While the two men were excited, the Light Lord was experiencing the opposite feeling.

”I feel like thereʼs someone here. Do you notice anything?”

”Not really. Maybe your imagination.”

The Light Lord took a peek from the dark corner after entering the water storage facility.

ʼHeh. Foolish. I will check this water storage myself before sabotaging it. They will definitely not have enough manpower to contain all this water if the water storage collapses.ʼ The Light Lord smirked.

By destroying the water storage, he could flood the Ardagan family. In addition, the incident would allow them to seize control over the rune technologies, believing that they had the same risk as the water storage.

When Noel and Anna returned, they would find a wasted city with all their assets seized by them. No, they might even have to pay compensation for the damage.

This was a perfect thing in his mind, but of course, how could it be that easy?

When he was about to reach the water storage itself, he suddenly bumped into a barrier.

”Huh?” The Light Lord was confused at first. As expected, such a facility would definitely require this level of protection.

Still, maintaining this kind of barrier would require them to use a lot of spiritual energy. Hence, the Light Lord went around the facility, trying to find the source of the spiritual energy.

There must be people who were feeding the barrier with the demon crystals. As long as he disrupted that process, the barrier would have no more spiritual energy to run.

This was a perfect plan, but little did he know, this barrier itself was just a fake barrier.

Noel had indeed put up a barrier, but it was nowhere strong enough to stop a spirit grandmaster like the barrier on the wall. Instead, he actually took the concept of the rune array his ancestor showed him in the place where he hid his inheritances. Enjoy exclusive content from My Virtual Library Empire

Instead of using blood as the recognition process, Nathan used another rune, which allowed people who had the corresponding rune to enter easily. On the other hand, no spirit grandmaster would break this barrier recklessly.

That was why he would definitely be able to trick them, making them wonder where the source of the spiritual energy was, not realizing it was just the natural spiritual energy in the air.

In addition, there was another pair of eyes in the dark, watching the Light Lord carefully. She thought, ʼAfter listening to those two idiots talking about the law, catching this guy red-handed is probably going to be an effective weapon against them. I will make a move then.ʼ
