System vs Rebirth

Chapter 1305 Accusations

”What?”

”The lord makes a law to pave the way for his disciple?”

”So, his disciple is a slave.”

”Why are we even bothered by that? I donʼt really care about the lordʼs decision. In the end, he has taken care of us the whole time… much better than any lords we can imagine.”

”I know, right? The lord has given us everything. If he asks me to jump, I will ask him, ʼHow high?ʼ Thereʼs no need to doubt our lord. He must have done that for the sake of the Ardagan family.”

”Still, wonʼt it cause trouble? I heard the lord faced a lot of problems due to that one reason.”

”Really?”

”Yes. Donʼt you know that the acting lord is actually unqualified because of his status? Even a normal citizen should be more qualified than him.”

”I donʼt care. He is the person the lord has chosen. There must be a reason for him to be chosen. Itʼs not like our lord is foolish enough to put someone who is ʼunqualifiedʼ in charge. After all, he chose him over Princess Livia.”

The people kept talking about Tristan.

”Hmm?” A prostitute furrowed her eyebrows, listening to those rumors. She thought, ʼIs there a problem with this city? This is the third time I have heard people talking about this topic.

ʼIs someone planning to harm the Ardagan familyʼs reputation? Should I report this? It looks like the situation is more or less under control.

ʼIn the end, they must want to control the people and sow discord with the acting lord, but after all the kindness the lord has shown so far, the citizens believe him more than others do. I guess the solidarity of our people has become the strength of the city.

ʼThe only problem will be the people who have just come to the city recently. Theyʼll be the first one to get swallowed by them. I hope that there are enough citizens who will protect the Ardagan familyʼs reputation… Still, I should report this.ʼ

…

Ardagan familyʼs mansion.

”What is the meaning of this, Acting Lord? No. Iʼm not sure if youʼre qualified to even take that title…” The Fire Lord slammed the documents in his hand on the table.

”Huh? What are you talking about?” Tristan tilted his head in confusion.

”Iʼm talking about your status. To think that you are still a slave. While itʼs true that the people of the Muivell Kingdom are subjected to the kingdomʼs law, which will make you equal.

”However, you are still a slave. Marquis Ardagan hasnʼt completed the transfer of nations, which means you are still the citizen of the Atracaeca Kingdom.

”In other words, youʼre not eligible to be chosen as the acting lord. Even though itʼs true that the lord has the authority to choose his proxy, as a slave, you donʼt have that right.

”You, Ardagan family, have been saying things about laws. But youʼre the one who hasnʼt complied with our kingdomʼs law.

”Since there is no lord chosen in this city, it means the Tower Association has any right to do all the investigation without any consent.”

”What?” Tristan stood up. Enjoy new tales from My Virtual Library Empire

The Fire Lord was amused. The fact that Tristan became worked up meant he managed to poke in the right place. By taking advantage of this information, he would remove Tristan from the opposition.

The marquis, who accompanied the Fire Lord, squinted his eyes. ”To think that Marquis Ardagan has been ignoring the law of the kingdom… This is something that canʼt be overlooked.

”No. This is not allowed. We have to punish the Ardagan family. We canʼt let them continue to act as if theyʼre above laws. Of course, you, the fake proxy, will have to be executed. Impersonating a lord is not something we tread lightly.”

”You two…” Tristan gritted his teeth.

If they intended to continue, it would seem Tristan would lose sooner or later.

That was why the two had been rejoicing inwardly. This would be their victory. To think it would be this easy, Noel must have thought too highly of himself that he ended up overlooking this weakness.

Little did they know, Tristan was actually smiling, feeling touched. ʼTo think that you guys are much simpler than I originally thought. Just like what Elaine told me…ʼ

That was right. Elaine had sent a letter to Tristan after getting a visit.

…

Several days ago.

”Hmm… this is from Elaine?” Tristan frowned. ”Letʼs see… The nobles from the central government have entered the city. They want the information that can be used against me.

”And because of my status, it will be easy for them to find fault, so she is giving them outdated information.

”As a result, they will definitely come for me and try to remove me by using the law, but they donʼt realize that this is not a big deal since my master has fixed that issue.

”They will come again, but this time, they might come together with the Tower Association, so I have to be careful.”

Tristan frowned. ”Is she being grateful for everything that Master has done for her and her family? If thatʼs the case, I should consider her bravery and tell my master about it once he returns.

”Still, I know that the enemy will come and in what way. If thatʼs the case, the situation has become much simpler.”

Tristan smirked both after receiving the letter and after receiving the ultimatum.

The Fire Lord stated, ”You are nothing here, brat. You dare to act mighty in front of me. This is the lesson.”

Tristanʼs expression darkened. He looked at both of them as if he resented them, making him lower his head again.

His body was trembling, as if he was scared. It was to the point where both the noble and the Fire Lord thought Tristan would ask them to spare him.

Tristan, on the other hand, smiled confidently, knowing how to deal with this already. And this was the time for his counterattack.
