Chapter 1317 Bodyguard

Lured by money, Leysha ended up taking the offer. Of course, she had been skeptical of the deal itself, so she thought about taking the money and the moment Luke made a mistake that showed his offer was nothing but a scheme to get her body, she would make him pay dearly.

And there was one way for her to do that…

”I will become your bodyguard!” Leysha puffed her chest proudly.

Luke raised his eyebrows in annoyance.

”Why are you making that kind of face?” Leyshaʼs eyebrows were twitching.

”I donʼt see any benefits in it. Raven and Silvester are enough.”

”Really?” Leysha harrumphed. ”Although I ended up like this, I still could do math and other things. Besides, having a beautiful woman by your side should boost your image as a merchant, no?”

Luke shook his head. ”I donʼt particularly care about it. If I make you my bodyguard, it will end up with people asking whether you are my wife or not, especially since youʼre not acting like a bodyguard and donʼt seem to be planning to do that either. So, no!”

”Why?!” Leysha gasped.

”I donʼt care what kind of life you had before coming here, but please drop your pride, lady.” Luke sighed.

Leysha wanted to argue with him, but Silvester suddenly suggested, ”I donʼt think itʼs a bad idea to have her as your bodyguard, Master Luke.”

”Even you, Silvester?” Luke frowned.

”Yes. Iʼm sure that you have heard about Laufeyʼs intention of getting focused on the Demon Banner Army to build his strength and reputation. So, it will end up with a hole in your protection.

”While I can accompany you as your butler, Raven… not so much. He is still a knight in training after all. Most of the time, it will be only me after Laufey is gone.

”Meanwhile, Lady Leyshaʼs strength is not lower than mine or Laufeyʼs. So, as a bodyguard, she should be qualified. Besides, not acting as your bodyguard can lower the enemiesʼ guards, thinking that no one is protecting you. It will make our job to protect you easier.”

Luke looked annoyed. It felt like he would get a different kind of problem. Unbeknownst to him, Silvester stepped on Ravenʼs foot next to him.

Raven was confused at first but after seeing Silvesterʼs face, he hurriedly added, ”Thatʼs right, Master Luke. I believe we should have her help you with the bodyguard duty. Weʼll ask Laufey to teach her a few things about her job.”

Luke crossed his arms. ”Is that so?”

Leysha slammed the table with her hands. ”Thatʼs right. What else do you need to consider? I donʼt plan to take the wage without doing any work.”

Of course, Leysha also added inwardly, ʼAnd by staying with you constantly, I should be able to find your scheme.ʼ

Luke sighed. ”Fine. I will let Laufey know about it. But this is just a trial. If she ends up messing with my clients, I will kick you out of the house.”

”I wonʼt!” Leysha gritted her teeth.

”Donʼt worry about Laufey, Master Luke. Weʼll inform him.” Silvester nodded and walked away with Raven.

Once they were outside, Raven couldnʼt help but ask, ”What the hell are you doing? We are still not clear whether this woman is a spy from the Supreme Devil Organization or not. She might have helped us previously, but it might be a scheme from them to make us trust her.”

Silvester shook his head. ”No. Laufey and I have made a background check. Weʼre still unsure about her specific origin, but she must be from the Greenwood Kingdom. And she should be a noble, a very high-level one on top of that.”

”How do you know that?”

”Her demeanor, her pride, her action, her beauty, and so on.” Silvester explained.

”You can find that much?”

”Yes. It wonʼt be long before we find out about her identity… Not that weʼll tell the master about it though.”

”Huh? Are you trying to rebel as well, Silvester?” Raven grabbed his sword.

”I should be the one asking you that question.” Silvester sighed. ”What I and Laufey want is to have the next heir of the Ardagan family.”

”The next heir… Wait, donʼt tell me…” Raven gasped, finally understanding his intention.

”Yes. Weʼll make them stay together as much as possible. You know Master Lukeʼs personality. Thereʼs no way he will take the initiative to build a relationship.

”Thatʼs why we will have to approach the other way around. Weʼll have Lady Leysha approach him instead.

”She might be a bit annoying, but thatʼs the only way for Master Luke to stop ignoring the women around him.

”Besides… After investigating this familyʼs history, you will find a trace of the head of the family having their partner to be their former enemy or something. Itʼs like… itʼs running in their blood.

”She probably has some ill intention when she proposes to become his bodyguard, but itʼs good for us since Laufey and I have been racking our brains to find a reason to make her his bodyguard or secretary.

”Thatʼs why act natural, but at the same time, donʼt be too rude. Lady Leysha might be the future madam of our household.”

Raven was completely speechless. ”Why do you not include me in this plan? If you had told me about it—!”

”You will what? You are too obvious. Even right now, Iʼm taking a risk after telling you about it. You will probably do excessive things, which will make it awkward for them. The best thing you can do right now is to train harder and spend a lot of your time with the soldiers. Just let nature take its course in their relationship.” Silvester harrumphed.

”Ugh.” Raven scratched the back of his head, as he couldnʼt really deny it. ”I will do just that then.”

Silvester nodded. ”Just make sure that you donʼt say anything about it. It doesnʼt matter if she is related to a high-ranking noble or whatever. Master Luke will become a big enough man to even marry a princess if he wants to in the near future. For now, I will have to take care of her migration document secretly so that there wonʼt be a problem if they decide to get married.”

”You… worked hard.”
