Chapter 1311: Acting

”The situation as—” Josephine was in the middle of her report to the Supreme Devil before someone suddenly rushed into the room.

Bang!

”!!!” Josephine stopped and turned her head around to see what was going on. She saw Laufey, covered in injuries. ”Laufey? What are you doing? Aren’t you supposed to be attacking those nobles?”

Laufey breathed heavily as he walked toward them. ”I failed.”

”Huh?” Josephine couldn’t help but furrow her eyebrows. In the end, they had given Laufey a lot of chances, but every single time, he had failed.

They couldn’t help but doubt Laufey.

Josephine furrowed her eyebrows while checking his injury.

”We’ve got a bigger problem than my failure. Although it’s true that I have failed, I managed to bring important information.” Laufey gritted his teeth, enduring his pain.

”Important information?”

”Yes. Can’t you see it from my wounds?”

”Huh?” Josephine’s body shook. She inspected carefully, noticing the lingering chilling energy. ”This is chilling energy? An ice element spirit? Noel Ardagan was there? But wasn’t he supposed to be…”

Laufey shook his head. ”The one who stopped me was a woman.”

”A woman with an ice element? But this wound… It felt like there’s something else in it…”

”Transcendence…” The Supreme Devil’s voice echoed inside the room.

”!!!” Josephine widened her eyes in shock. ”What? A transcendence? A spirit transcendence? There’s someone that strong among the nobles?”

”No. I encountered that woman when I was near the Golden Dawn City, about to head toward other nobles.” Laufey shook his head before coughing up blood.

Josephine was confused at the moment, but she suddenly recalled something. When she was helping the Third Prince, the Third Prince couldn’t help but abruptly turn around and look at the Golden Dawn City.

”Now that I think about it…” Josephine fell silent before asking, ”Forgive my impudence, Supreme Devil. However, is it possible to spread your senses… for about several kilometers away?”

The Supreme Devil said, ”It is possible. Someone who has just become a spirit transcendence is unable to do it, but once you get a bit stronger, you will be able to infuse even your transcendent path to your own senses, increasing it even further.

”Depending on your transcendent path, you can even shape your sense like this.”

All of a sudden, the atmosphere became heavy.

Both Laufey and Josephine suddenly felt their hearts being gripped by an outside force. They started gasping for air. They felt like they would die without being able to do anything.

However, that pressure vanished into thin air, allowing them to catch their breaths.

Still, Laufey was injured, so that demonstration caused him to cough violently. It felt like the Supreme Devil was punishing him.

”…” Josephine, on the other hand, panicked. ”Don’t tell me… there is indeed a spirit transcendent in the Golden Dawn City?”

Josephine recounted everything that happened when she helped the Third Prince.

Laufey couldn’t help but grit his teeth. ”What the hell are you doing? You should have informed me if there’s such a thing and I would have avoided Golden Dawn City entirely. Are you trying to kill me, Josephine?”

Josephine gritted her teeth. She didn’t know anything.

Meanwhile, Laufey was actually surprised inwardly. He thought, ’Who is this expert? I don’t know anything about this person. I thought about using my sister-in-law as a cover, but if there was indeed an expert, I could use this person instead…’

Josephine looked down. ”Now that I think about it, there’s a report about the spies we’ve sent there. There is also a trace of chilling energy. It is as if they froze to death.”

Laufey never thought he would be this lucky. He immediately shouted, ”You should have told me about it, Josephine! Don’t tell me. You’re actually siding with the Third Prince? You want me to die so that the Supreme Devil Organization will be weakened?”

”Shut your mouth, Laufey. I don’t have any plan to betray the organization!” Josephine hurriedly turned around and went on one knee. ”I apologize, sir Supreme Devil. I…”

”Enough.” The Supreme Devil, who was still sitting behind the curtain, couldn’t help but chuckle in frustration. ”Ardagan… To think that you would have such a trick.”

”Ardagan?” Laufey and Josephine couldn’t help but think about the heirloom.

”Have they gathered everything?”

”!!!” Josephine lowered her head. ”Not yet.”

”Then, hurry up! I need all of them to break this cursed ability. If not for this, I would have gone personally and exterminated that cursed bloodline!”

”Y-Yes…” Josephine panicked and rushed out.

After that, the Supreme Devil glared at Laufey. Laufey lowered his head. ”I apologize, sir. Please punish me.”

”As you said, you’ve indeed brought back an important piece of information. Go back and recuperate. However, this will be the last time, Laufey. The moment you fail me one more time, I will take your life myself.”

”Yes, sir.” Laufey’s heart felt heavy. Even without touching him, the Supreme Devil could indeed kill him. Laufey staggered out of the room. He didn’t think the situation would actually go in his favor.

One last chance. That was also what he needed. And in this last chance, he wished to die in his nephew’s hands as a human, not a demon.

It appeared he had to make one last preparation… one last gift for his nephew.

…

Muivell Kingdom.

”What? Everything is crumbling…” Matthew gritted his teeth, looking at all the reports.

All of a sudden, someone barged into his room with a confident smile.

”Well, well, well. Isn’t this, Matthew? Why are you looking so frustrated?” Maxwell smirked.

”Maxwell!” Matthew clenched his fists.

”Isn’t this how you did it last time? Barging into someone else’s room when you thought you had the advantage. Albeit unlike you, who has false confidence, I have a solid confidence that everything will go smoothly for the rest of our fight,” Maxwell smirked. After what happened, the course of the battle had been decided.

No matter what he did, there was no way to mess it up.

”You bastard!”

Maxwell politely bowed while saying, ”Well, I still need a few things to do. I’m going to take my leave here. The lord will definitely be happy to see your current face.”
