Not Being a Trainer This Time

Chapter 344: Chapter 224: Opportunity to Head to the Paldea Giant Pit (Supplement 1)

However, the Kingambit did not immediately lose its fighting ability due to Gogoat’s attack.

It staggered to its feet from the ground, looking at Gogoat with deep-set eyes.

With a thud, the Kingambit knelt directly on the Grassy Terrain.

Seeing this, Naoki was slightly stunned, and Gogoat blinked its eyes with a dazed expression.

What’s this? Is the opponent surrendering?

No, it’s not surrendering!

Naoki’s inner alarm bells rang out; it was Kingambit’s exclusive move, Kowtow!

By kneeling, it tricks its opponent into letting their guard down and launches a sudden attack when the opponent is careless.

This is an extremely insidious and despicable move!

If the Pokemon had encountered this before, it would presumably be wary and avoid being attacked.

But the crucial point is, Gogoat had never encountered such a situation before!

Naoki wanted to warn, but suddenly realized this was a self-directed Pokemon match, and he couldn’t give a vocal warning.

”Maa?”

Gogoat, looking slightly confused, took a step forward, seemingly trying to see what was happening with the opponent.

Just as it reached the attack range, the giant blade on Kingambit’s head suddenly emitted a strong malice.

Then, Kingambit suddenly lunged headfirst to the ground, and with its movement, the giant blade slashed directly at Gogoat.

”Boom!”

The Kowtow hit a vital point, and Gogoat let out a painful cry: ”Maa!”

Taking advantage of Gogoat’s pain, Kingambit abruptly stood up, its body flickering with a pale light, intending to end the battle before the Grassy Terrain could restore Gogoat’s vitality.

At this moment, Geeta’s voice came from behind it: ”Enough, stop it!”

Kingambit paused in its action, then retracted its edge and retreated to Geeta’s side.

Once again, a burst of vitality surged through the Grassy Terrain, nurturing Gogoat’s body and restoring its strength.

Gogoat stood up with steadfast eyes, glaring angrily at Kingambit opposite.

”Maa!”

This Pokemon doesn’t play fair!

The other two Gogoat also ran up, glaring at Kingambit opposite them.

Seeing these simple and honest Gogoat, Geeta suddenly felt a bit guilty: ”Sorry.”

Naoki sighed, stepping forward helplessly. Although he knew Kowtow was Kingambit’s exclusive move, it was indeed insidious and vile before Pokemon unfamiliar with it.

Naoki reached out to pat Gogoat’s head, calming them as he patiently explained Kingambit’s previous actions.

”It wasn’t Kingambit attacking you maliciously, it was a move, and you just hadn’t encountered it before, so there wasn’t prior experience. But now if you come across such a situation again, you’ll know what to do, right?” Naoki asked.

Gogoat looked at him, pondered for a moment, then nodded: ”Maa!”

”Good kids,” Naoki said with a smile, ruffling their necks, ”Go ahead, that’s it for today, you can go have some Grassy Seed!”

At the mention of Grassy Seed, Gogoat ignored the sly Kingambit and promptly ran off.

Naoki then stood up to look at Geeta.

Geeta looked at him with confusion in her eyes, commenting on the earlier battle: ”... Gogoat’s strength is quite formidable, but it doesn’t seem to have much battle experience.”

”Indeed,” Naoki nodded, ”They’ve been training at the pasture and so far have only fought in a few battles, but they’re not intended specifically for combat.”

”For battles...” Naoki glanced at a few Pokemon not far away, ”Dragonite and Koraidon are more skilled.”

Geeta realized: ”No wonder.”

A puzzled expression appeared on her face, ”If I didn’t see it wrong, that Gogoat seems quite talented in using moves.”

As a champion with extensive battle experience, Geeta could tell that every Grass Type Move Gogoat used was extraordinary, like enhanced versions.

Grassy Terrain, not only had a wider coverage, but the vitality restored also seemed way beyond normal Grassy Terrain.

Vine Whip was another matter, those sturdy frightening vines were clearly not just any ordinary move.

As for the final move...

Geeta recalled the image of Gogoat holding a gigantic blade in its mouth.

She couldn’t help but ask, ”What move was that?”

Naoki: ”Leaf Blade.”

Hearing this answer, Geeta was slightly stunned.

Naoki noticed her expression, explaining, ”It’s essentially still Leaf Blade, just a different method of use.”

A different method of use?

Geeta pondered slowly, and after a long while, she murmured, ”I see.”

With her inner questions answered, Geeta returned to her usual self.

Her eyes revealed a look of appreciation: ”I’m glad to see your remarkable skills, beautiful moves are endlessly emerging. It seems the Paldea Region welcomes another great trainer.”

”Every Pokemon Trainer is a treasure of the Paldea Region, Naoki, I greatly welcome your return to the Paldea Region.”

Naoki: ”...”

For a moment, he didn’t know where to start his retort.

Whatever, she says so, then so be it!

Naoki asked, ”Do you want to continue the challenge?”

Geeta thought for a moment, then shook her head: ”Better not; it’s not quite fair to Gogoat. Perhaps, when they have enough battle experience, we can battle again.”

Naoki indeed had no intention to continue further.

Geeta: ”Let’s leave it here for today!”

Geeta was quite satisfied with today’s harvest and before leaving the pasture, she left Naoki with her contact information.

”What I mentioned before is still valid, the Paldea Region will fulfill one of your wishes to the best of its ability, as a reward for hero trainers.”

”Of course, if you’re ever considering working at the League, you can also contact me. At that time, I would certainly arrange a decent job for you.”

She hadn’t given up on inviting this trainer to work at the Paldea League.

Watching Geeta’s figure disappear into the distance, Naoki looked down at the number in his hand, speechless: ”Really...”

*

In the evening, as Naoki was making Grassy Seed and Green Grass Cake at home, he suddenly received a call from Professor Sada.

As the call connected, Professor Sada’s face appeared on the video phone screen.

”Good afternoon, Naoki!” Professor Sada’s confident face revealed a smile.

Naoki replied, ”Good afternoon, Professor, Koraidon is doing well recently.”

Upon hearing this, Professor Sada on the screen was slightly stunned, before the smile on her face grew wider:

”I’m glad Koraidon is getting along well with you, but today I’m calling not about Koraidon, but to talk about something else.”

Naoki was puzzled, ”What?”

Professor Sada explained, ”This morning, Geeta contacted us, and I heard about your affair from her.”

”I really didn’t expect you to be such an outstanding trainer, which means your strength should be adequate.”

Naoki was utterly confused.

Professor Sada didn’t keep him guessing, smiling as she said, ”If you wish to visit Zone Zero, you can seize this opportunity, as we just wanted to conduct a check on Koraidon.”

”Generally, entry to Zone Zero requires approval from the Paldea League.”

”With your strength, able to ensure your safety within the Giant Pit and stopping that fire, if you applied to the Paldea League now, you might get permission.”

”However, the interior of the Giant Pit is vast and you’ll spend a lot of time there, so if you come to visit, make sure to prepare in advance.”
