Not Being a Trainer This Time

Chapter 334: Chapter 220: The Grassy Terrain That Enshrouded the Entire Forest

Naoki noticed their expressions and smiled, saying, ”You’re welcome. We’re all lives living in this place, helping each other is what we should do.”

The warm firelight restored some energy to Greedent, who wiped its tears with its tiny paws, then lowered its head to eat the food.

The rest of the Pokemon also silently lowered their heads to eat, thinking: when given the chance, they must properly thank this human who rescued them.

Tinkatink hadn’t woken up yet. Naoki stepped forward to check and found it seemed to have fallen asleep from exhaustion.

He didn’t wake it up. After breakfast, Naoki planned to go to the back mountain to see the situation, to see if there were any other wild Pokemon in need of rescue.

Unexpectedly, after hearing Naoki’s plan, Greedent and others expressed their desire to go as well.

Seeing this, Naoki left the Indeedee Sibling to watch the house and take care of Tinkatink, while he led the group of Pokemon to the back mountain.

It had just rained, and the ground was not dry; the road to the back mountain was extremely muddy.

At first, the scenery on both sides of the road hadn’t changed much, but once they formally entered the back mountain, they were shocked to find that the place had entirely transformed.

The formerly tall trees were now charred black, fallen in all directions, the shrubs and grass burned to black ash, and the air was filled with the damp smell of rain mixed with ashes.

Greedent and Grafaiai looked at the devastation, tears silently streaming down.

Greedent wailed sadly.

All the hazelnuts and berries it stored in the tree hole for winter had been burned by this fire; they were the result of its busy autumn!

Grafaiai wiped the tears from its face, feeling a sense of despair; the place it originally inhabited might also have turned into ruins.

The Tandemaus couple silently shed tears, thinking that if they hadn’t run fast yesterday, they would have returned to dust and earth by now.

Bellibolt reacted a bit more slowly, but looking at the scene before it, it now only felt a sense of languish on its usually casual face.

Koraidon and Glaceon were also dispirited by the sight.

Pawmot couldn’t help but wonder whether if it lived in this forest, it would now be homeless.

Thinking of this made Pawmot feel very sad.

Naoki’s mood was also quite heavy.

He remembered how not long ago, he rode Gogoat to gather mountain goods in this forest.

Back then, the trees were tall and lush, and when the wind blew, the sound of waves would echo through the forest, spreading into the distance like waves.

The yellowed leaves would fall from the treetops, layers blanketing the ground, to become nutrients for the soil, making the land fertile for the next year.

Many Pokemon also inhabited nearby shrubs; he had seen Tarountula, Nymble, Wattrel, and Caterpie here before.

But now, all those Pokemon had vanished without a trace, their whereabouts unknown.

Naoki could only silently pray in his heart, hoping that they had sensed the crisis ahead of time and escaped to a safer place.

Seeing the crying Pokemon around him, Naoki comforted them, saying, ”Don’t cry; as long as you are alive, one day your home will be rebuilt. I, along with everyone else, and the people living in the town will help you rebuild your home.”

The few Pokemon felt somewhat better but were still very sad.

Seeing this, Naoki could only say, ”Let’s search nearby to see if any other Pokemon need help!”

”Barom!”

Pawmot was the first to react, the red cloak Naoki prepared for it on its shoulder. Its image flying through the ruins was like that of a superhero.

Naoki hoped it could also bring new hope to the Pokemon affected by this disaster, just like a real superhero.

Glaceon, Koraidon, Cyclizar, Gogoat, Dolliv, Dragonite, Butterfree, Combee, two wild Dragonites, and five Dragonairs—whether Pokemon living on the ranch or those left to work—all were dispatched by Naoki to conduct search and rescue.

Seeing this scene, the sad Greedent was also moved.

It thought of the group of Pokemon that fled together yesterday, thinking that they might still be in danger, so it actively joined the rescue operation.

Grafaiai said nothing but expressed its intentions through action.

It swiftly shuttled through the forest, smearing its color-changing poison saliva on its fingers, using it to paint on the ground and dead trees, trying to guide those Pokemon in need of help.

Naoki was moved watching this scene.

Even Pokemon who are usually adversaries would unite and help each other in the face of disaster.

With everyone’s joint efforts, they soon found the first Pokemon in need of help.

It was a Wattrel with injured wings, unable to fly.

It was hiding in a narrow cave, and by the time Pawmot led Naoki there, the Wattrel had already fainted.

Naoki quickly pulled it out of the cave, carefully checked its injuries, and then sprayed it with Burn Heal and Super Potion.
