Not Being a Trainer This Time

Chapter 314: Chapter 213: Birthday Gift (Double Chapter) (Part 2)

”According to the winemaker’s intention and the style of wine being produced, if it is aged, the time can range from several months to several years.”

”However, it’s not necessarily true that wine must be aged to be good. It depends more on the drinker’s preference; some people like wine aged for several years, while others prefer fresh wine.”

”Of course, the market price for wine aged several years is much higher than that of normally fermented wine.”

Zack said a whole lot, but Naoki only caught one sentence from it — Aged wine sells for more!

”It’s just right that there’s a heap of Berries in the Berry Garden. After selling this batch of beer, we can use them to brew some fruit wine,” Naoki thought to himself.

At this time, Zack had already completed his evaluation: ”3000 Poké Dollars per liter. This season is not beer-drinking season, so the market price fluctuates a bit. If it were summer, the price would be higher.”

Poké Dollars per liter... Naoki calculated in his mind.

The specification for one oak barrel is three liters, and there are a total of thirty oak barrels in the cellar, which means this batch of beer can sell for around 270,000.

Compared to the price of Miltank’s milk, the profit from winemaking is also a considerable income.

Naoki nodded in agreement with the price.

Earlier in the summer, he had accumulated a large stock of hops, and once this batch of brewed beer is sold, the hops he stored can come into play.

Once he saves a bit more money, the greenhouse can be built.

Seeing him nod, Zack thought for a while and said, ”Then I’ll come back tomorrow to pick up this batch! It’s a bit late today, and my truck is already full of goods.”

”No problem.”

Naoki had no issue with this.

Having arranged for Zack to come by tomorrow, Zack drove off in his truck.

It was evening, with colorful clouds covering the lake surface.

The Dragonite and Dratini, happily with their day’s wages, flew off to Dragon Island.

After seeing them off, Naoki began wrapping up his day’s work.

Together with Pawmot, they herded the hens back into the Chicken House and secured the doors and windows.

Filled the feed trough for Miltank with fresh hay and Berries.

Refilled Glaceon’s water bowl with water.

Then he picked a big pumpkin from the field; the weather was getting colder, and tonight Naoki planned to cook a pot of pumpkin porridge with rock sugar to warm himself and Cyclizar.

Speaking of Cyclizar.

Naoki suddenly remembered something.

He went back to the bedroom and flipped through this month’s calendar, indeed finding a mark on the 20th of August.

”Sure enough, I didn’t forget; Cyclizar’s birthday is in a few days!”

Naoki returned to the kitchen, processing the pumpkin while glancing at Cyclizar yawning in the living room.

Cyclizar’s birthday is important, but at the same time, there’s another important matter.

That’s the dessert he made earlier, a special dish that only takes effect on a Pokémon’s birthday.

If he remembers correctly, that cake’s effect is called ”Birthday Gift”?

The specific effect is that if a Pokémon eats it on its birthday, it gains a blessing, permanently increasing one of its Hp, Attack, Special Attack, Speed, Defense, or Special Defense.

”Interesting.”

Naoki was very curious about the described effect.

But there was still some time before Cyclizar’s birthday, and until then, he had to be patient.

A pot of sweet, soft pumpkin porridge was devoured by a group of Pokémon.

After dinner, his sister Indeedee went to wash the dishes while Naoki cozied up on the sofa with several Pokémon to watch TV.

It was the weekend, the tavern wasn’t open, and they didn’t need to stay there, so everyone stayed home.

The living room was illuminated with warm light, and the TV was broadcasting the weather forecast for the next day.

The elegantly dressed female host was reading the script to the camera: ”...Affected by cold air, it is expected that some areas in the northwest of Paldea will see rain around midnight. Please be prepared in advance and close all doors and windows.”

Upon hearing this, his brother Indeedee silently turned to check if all the doors and windows in the house were properly closed.

Naoki lazily remained on the sofa, leaning against the furry Pawmot, squeezing its paw pads.

This was his favorite moment of the day.

With all the work on the farm completed, the world outside was shrouded in darkness, and maybe a cold wind would blow through, but inside, it was brightly lit and incredibly warm.

The Pokémon were also gathered together, nestled with him on the sofa like cats huddling for warmth in winter.

On the wooden coffee table in front of him were snacks and milk that every Pokémon loved, along with a cup of steaming hot tea.

The old-fashioned TV across from them played news programs from the Paldea Region.

They would watch the weather forecast for the next day, and after learning tomorrow’s weather, they would switch to the news program.

This show helped them learn about the outside world.

For example, the Paldea Academy was holding inter-school competitions again, some Trainer reversed a battle with an unexpected Tera Type, or large-scale events being held in certain places.

The antennas in the Paldea Region could occasionally pick up news programs from other regions.

Like Professor Oak’s Pokémon lecture from the Johto Region.

Though Koraidon and the others couldn’t understand human programs, they still accompanied him to watch them.
