Not Being a Trainer This Time

Chapter 341: Chapter 222: Geeta’s Recruitment

Naoki was even more confused.

How did he not know he had become a Champion-level Trainer?

Seeing his expression, Geeta was also quite perplexed: ”Isn’t that so?”

Naoki: ”...No, as you can see, I’m just a rancher.”

Hearing this, Geeta furrowed her brow slightly, as if in thought.

Then, she seemed to have thought of something, and her brow gradually relaxed, revealing a smile: ”I understand now.”

Naoki: ”?”

What did you understand?

Geeta hadn’t forgotten her main purpose for coming here today. She straightened her face and said:

”Mr. Naoki, regardless of everything, I must on behalf of the Paldea League express our gratitude towards you. The Paldea League owes you a debt.”

”As thanks, we will fulfill one of your needs to the best of our ability, whether it’s money, Pokémon, or a position within the League like a Gym Leader.”

Of course, the League position was something she personally added, as before coming here, Geeta had considered recruiting this talent.

However, upon hearing this, Naoki twitched his mouth.

So they wanted to recruit him to work for the League?

What a joke?!

He didn’t want to become a corporate drone like Larry.

Therefore, Naoki decisively rejected the third option: ”I still prefer running the ranch here.”

Geeta was quite regretful: ”Really, you won’t reconsider? The League offers generous salaries for outstanding Trainers, and you can also run your ranch while working for the League; they don’t conflict.”

Naoki smiled politely: ”Thank you very much for your invitation, but these Pokémon here can’t do without me.”

Upon hearing this, Geeta looked at the group of Pokémon eagerly waiting behind him and could only regretfully say: ”Alright, if you change your mind in the future, feel free to contact me anytime.”

”By the way, since you don’t want to work for the League, the first two options are still valid. Please don’t refuse again; it’s a token of our appreciation, and it’s a reward you deserve.”

Naoki: ”...”

He began to ponder deeply.

As an ordinary person, facing this situation, it’s really hard to make a decision.

As for money, well, he doesn’t lack it now.

As for Pokémon, Naoki’s mind was filled with images of the fluffy Eevee family and the Growlithe he longed for.

Seeing his hesitation, Geeta said: ”You can take your time to think about it. This token of appreciation is valid indefinitely, so you can let me know once you’ve made up your mind.”

Naoki nodded silently, realizing that this was indeed the case.

For Eevee, he could check in town to see if anyone was breeding them, and he could try his luck in the wild for Growlithe.

After concluding the main topic, Geeta turned her gaze towards Koraidon and then asked: ”Is it your Pokémon?”

Naoki looked at his own Koraidon, then at Geeta beside him.

At this moment, many thoughts raced through his mind.

As he knew, the Paldea Giant Pit is currently under the management of the Paldea League, and outsiders need permission from the Paldea League to enter.

And the research station and institute founded by Professor Sada and Professor Turo under the Giant Pit were presumably able to conduct their research smoothly with the League’s support.

”...So, as the Paldea League’s top Champion, Geeta should be aware of the existence of Paradox Pokémon.”

After a moment of contemplation, Naoki nodded and said: ”Yes, it’s called Koraidon. The name was given by Professor Sada. Eight months ago, it appeared at the ranch, and Professor Sada entrusted it to my care, hoping I could discover more ecological information from Koraidon.”
