Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 1148: Chapter 8: First Arrival on Canglang Star

”I have to go now!” Margaret stood up, walked over to the wall, and pulled the power cord of the simulation computer.

The virtual screen of the simulation computer turned pitch black after a flash.

Fatty turned his head with tears in his eyes, glaring at Margaret, his lips trembling: ”You’ll be nailed to the pillar of shame!”

”Nail me wherever you want.” Margaret walked over to Fatty, hooked her finger under his chin, the woman’s scent spreading quietly like a gentle night breeze, soaking into Fatty’s nostrils.

”I won’t be playing against you anymore. So your victory rate will forever be thirty percent.” Margaret’s rosy lips were almost touching Fatty’s face. When she bent down, her curves wrapped in a T-shirt and cotton skirt were breathtakingly tight. Seeing Fatty’s gloomy expression, the smile on the girl’s lips grew even more triumphant.

”Losing and still playing tricks. Why are you so close to me, trying to harass me?” Fatty said coldly. His eyes shifted, then became somewhat glazed, a shiny drool dripped down his mouth’s corner.

”Is this harassment?” Margaret had gotten used to teasing Fatty and moved even closer. The finger hooked under Fatty’s chin applied gentle pressure, trying to lift his head. Fatty stubbornly lowered his head and gritted his teeth, refusing to cooperate.

”If you keep doing this, I’m going to shout.” Fatty’s voice sounded fierce but was actually lacking in confidence. However, his eyes remained stunned, as if witnessing something unbelievable. Suddenly, twin streams of nosebleed flowed from his nostrils.

”You’re bleeding!” Margaret was startled and reached out to wipe Fatty’s nose.

”It’s nothing,” Fatty waved his hand, eyes still glazed: ”Perfectly normal.”

Margaret paused, then followed Fatty’s gaze downwards and suddenly let out a gasp.

”Pervert, you...” Margaret clutched her T-shirt collar tightly, her pretty face as red as a cloth, her bright eyes too embarrassed to meet Fatty’s gaze. She just stretched out her leg and kicked Fatty’s shin fiercely.

”Awesome! I admit you successfully harassed me.” Fatty gave a thumbs up, spitefully rolled up two pieces of paper to plug his nose: ”I concede! Next time you harass me, make sure to give me a heads-up first, with all that’s holy, one drop of blood equals ten eggs!”

”You fatso,” Margaret had no recourse against the shameless Fatty, spat angrily: ”Be smug, just wait till I get back from Hydefield, then you’ll have your moment to cry!”

”I don’t mind crying.” Fatty looked embarrassed: ”It’s the nosebleeds I’m afraid of.”

”You...” Margaret kicked Fatty angrily, both crying and laughing: ”How can you be so annoying!” Thinking of how her neckline had been thoroughly seen by Fatty, she felt both embarrassed and flustered, a sensation she had never experienced in her twenty-three years of life.

In her moment of confusion, she noticed the lights in the simulation room dimming. She felt the spacecraft’s walls vibrating finely.

Without needing to look at the electronic announcement board, she knew this was the ship’s reaction when entering a space Jump Point. Once past this Jump Point, it would be the place she and Fatty would part ways.

Fatty would proceed directly to the Resk Star System while she would take another D-class route to reach Kunlun Star in the Chuckna Long March Star System, escorted by the Qian Bolin Fleet back to the capital Hydefield.

The room was silent. With the spacecraft’s engines off, the power system automatically switched to backup power, causing the lights to dim to their lowest setting. The room became shadowy and indistinct.

Silence fell once more.

Margaret suddenly felt an indescribable emptiness and stared blankly at the Fatty in front of her.

Fatty had an ordinary face. His eyebrows were slightly drooped, giving him a somewhat hapless appearance. Below his eyebrows were black eyes that weren’t small but could hardly be considered large either.

His nose was rather prominent, though slightly fleshy. His lips were always curved in a slight arc, lending his entire face a foolish, confused look. Combined with his somewhat unwieldy ears, sitting there, he appeared honest and lovable, disarming any suspicions.

Yet this chubby guy, at their first meeting, had brazenly thrashed Major General Sammon, the Fleet Commander of the B15 fleet, along with Zhang Pengcheng, and then single-handedly took on twelve of Feiyang’s elite Special Soldiers on the training ground.

If these were just episodes of his madness, then his defeat of his nemesis SM01314 in the ”Sky-Filling Fire”, capturing the Binart 12th Generation Mecha in a fighting match, and capturing Hanfrey in the Longbow Star System showcased his genius.

This guy had no heroic aura whatsoever. He was petty, vindictive, and unscrupulously base. One might say that any random citizen of Feiyang would appear more dignified than this Fatty.

When this kind of person was promoted by the Leray Federation, all the soldiers and civilians of the Allied Nations viewed it as nothing more than a propaganda campaign by the Leray Federation. That small country needed a spiritual force, so they seized on the occasional achievement of an ordinary Mechanic Soldier and hyped it up, forcefully molding this man, who inherently didn’t resemble a soldier, into a hero!
