Counterfeit Hero

On the ranking list of great generals, Leefer is ranked fifth. He leads the Feiyang Five Tiger Generals and is considered by everyone to be the first successor to replace Military God Hastings.

However, since the start of this war, Leefer has stayed in the Military Department. Hastings hasn’t deployed him; instead, he spends his days in his own office reading battle reports, studying the interstellar map, and discussing the war situation with strategists, remaining calm and composed. His troops, much like him, engage in routine training and exercises every day, rise on time, and sleep on time, ignoring the endless shellfire overhead.

Everyone knows that the time has not yet come to deploy Leefer. The cold-faced General is the Republic’s trump card, and his army is the Republic’s stabilizer.

But now.......

A Feiyang Senior Soldier steps on the brakes beneath his feet, stopping the freight truck loaded with supplies just outside the yellow line indicated by the small flag in the hands of the Constitutional Soldier. He dazedly watches as several Feiyang Senior Officers greet the approaching Leefer and then as the officers escort Leefer towards the headquarters.

This is the ninth General this soldier, who runs to and from the port every day, has seen.

Before Leefer, six Vice Admirals and eight Admirals from different countries had already arrived at the Akasa Fortress with similarly serious expressions. Now, even Leefer is here........ What exactly is going on?

The long corridor extends under the lights, with automatic doors opening one after another. The guards along the way stand even taller, their bodies already erect and straight. When Leefer’s figure appeared at the entrance of the command center hall, the originally noisy command center suddenly quieted down. Only the sound of marching footsteps could be heard, echoing in the empty hexagonal hall that could accommodate thousands, as they ascended to the third-floor platform.

Until Leefer led two Major Generals into the main command center, the frozen air seemed to slowly start flowing again.

However, compared to the previous noise, the Combat Department, Intelligence Department, Political Department, Logistics Department, and other liaison offices and functional rooms had much quieter voices among the officers and strategists. Even though Leefer left their line of sight, the remaining twenty-eight officers standing silent and upright outside the automatic doors still exuded a cold and sharp blade-like atmosphere, a sense of oppressive weight under a black cloud.

”How is it?!” Leefer strides into the operations room, his eagle-like gaze directly meeting the approaching Feiyang Interstellar Navy Deputy Chief of Staff McKinley.

The solemn-faced McKinley didn’t speak, just slowly shook his head.

Leefer furrowed his brow and glanced around.

The 400-square-meter operations room was crowded with senior generals from various countries of the Fei Alliance, dressed in different uniforms.

These Fei Alliance generals, bearing the rank of Admiral or Vice Admiral, had completely lost their usual composure. Some surrounded the sand table, arguing, others sat on the sofa deep in thought, while some paced back and forth on the thick blue woolen carpet, occasionally glancing at the time.

It all started because of the unexpected fall of Canglang Star.

Canglang Star is the main star of the Resk Star System, located at the end of the second spiral arm of Resk, with an extremely important geographical position. It’s not only close to the Jump Point to the Southeast Main Channel, but also near the Jump Point leading to the Suss Empire and the currently intense battlefield on Leifeng Star; it has always been a strategic location in the Resk Star System.

Originally, Canglang Star had been completely under the control of the Chuckna Republic. However, unexpectedly, just when the Chuckna and Feiyang Alliance forces launched a full assault on the Suss ground troops on Leifeng Star, intending to completely drive the Western Alliance out of the Resk Star System, Jiepeng’s two Super Fleets — Thunderbolt and Storm — unexpectedly took a detour through the Suss, joining forces with eight Suss A-level fleets, and launched a surprise attack on Canglang Star.

Sixteen Armored Divisions, twenty fully mechanized infantry divisions, divided into six groups, descended from the heavens. Because the majority of troops were withdrawn to the key battlefield on Leifeng Star, the defenses on Canglang Star were weak, and in one fell swoop, the strategically critical Canglang Star was declared lost. The two Chuckna mixed fleets were annihilated; the six Armored Divisions and ten Infantry Divisions stationed on the ground had no time to react and were routed under the Western Alliance forces’ coordinated air and ground operations.

This was not due to the Chuckna Army’s weak combat strength but because Mikami Yuto’s command of the surprise attack hit the Chuckna right on its crucial point.

Due to the intense situation on Leifeng Star, the weak defenses on Canglang Star were one reason, but front-line command experienced relaxation due to the pressure on the Suss Army was another reason. More importantly, the attack was launched at three o’clock in the morning on Saturday, while the several Chuckna Army divisions stationed there had just returned to the forward base for rest from the Leifeng Star front line at six o’clock on Friday afternoon.

These soldiers that just returned to the forward base were not only tired but were also without their regular unit structure. They came from different units, temporarily gathered together after their structures were disrupted on the battlefield and sent back to the forward base for rest. They were organized by squad, company, platoon. Almost none had formed into regiments or battalions. Some soldiers were simply sent back one by one, while their comrades fell on Leifeng Star and could not come down.

At the moment of the attack, dozens of military bases were turned into a sea of fire by Western Alliance Fighter bombings. The soldiers, who were already strangers to each other, were instantly thrown into chaos, unable to effectively assemble and resist.

Obviously, Mikami Yuto had obtained precise intelligence, and his strike was both fierce and precise!
