Counterfeit Hero

The generals exchanged glances and then looked away. They all knew that a grudge had now been deeply seeded between the two sides. Despite the need for mutual cooperation presently, no one wanted to face such a situation, but no one could mediate either. Leefer’s arrogance and coldness were as famous as his unparalleled military genius. Apart from Hastings, or perhaps Fiscella who had been his classmate for many years, no one present had any relationship with him, let alone mediation.

McKinley frowned, lost in thought; Rabinowski sighed, shaking his head continuously; Vice Admiral Machira glared furiously at Leefer’s back; Yuris looked at Bernadotte with a complex expression.

Just as the automatic door in front of Leefer opened, revealing the guards and more than twenty Feiyang officers standing like javelins outside. At the information desk, a communications officer shouted loudly: ”General McKinley, battle report!”

The operations room erupted in commotion.

The officers at the console quickly tapped their keyboards, receiving communications and deciphering them. The generals crowded around.

A moment later, the code was decrypted, and the computer reassembled the program based on the deciphered code, presenting a complete battle report to everyone.

”General!” The duty communications liaison officer drew out the electronic folder, reporting in a trembling voice: ”Hanfrey surrendered, the Feiling Fleet and the Feiyu Fleet have been taken over by the bandit army, Longbow Battle is victorious!”

The generals stared dumbfounded at the liaison officer, speechless.

Hanfrey, surrendered, and handed over all the warships... two Binart Royal Elephant-class Fleets, my God, how is this possible?

”Haha!” Suddenly Vice Admiral Chucknachira burst into laughter. The entire operations room exploded like a pot boiling over. The generals whispered to each other, completely unable to believe this was true.

McKinley turned his head towards the door. He saw Leefer’s figure pause slightly after hearing the liaison officer’s report, then clenched his fists and strode out of the operations room. The heavy blast door closed tightly behind him.

McKinley’s facial muscles involuntarily twitched. He could fully imagine, when this new resounding slap landed on Leefer’s face, what this proud Feiyang Great General would feel.

If eliminating a bandit army that didn’t even count as a B-level fleet was as easy as turning over a hand, then, once the bandit army possessed two Binart Royal Elephant-class Fleets, what then?

Before this, perhaps no one would doubt Leefer’s warnings. But now, his warnings seemed laughable.

Not discussing the difficulty of annihilating the bandit army, just mentioning the Supreme Command Department, it definitely wouldn’t let Leefer act like that. For the bandit army achieving such miraculous victory, the Supreme Command Department and the Supreme Council would only seek to ally! That’s not something Leefer can influence! One look at the generals’ eyes on Bernadotte said it all. Leray, will have a substantial voice in this Command Department!

The corridor leading to the fortress port was spacious and silent. Only the neat footsteps of dozens of polished boots could be heard.

”General!” A Major General couldn’t suppress his inner anger, calling lowly.

Leefer waved his hand to stop the Major General from speaking.

He strode towards the battleship docked on the floating berth, his narrow eyes flashing with blade-like light.

Neither Margaret nor the Fatty called Tian Xingjian should have any reason to continue living. This opportunity, he would never miss.

In Fatty’s office, dozens of officers gathered holding wine, tea, and coffee cups, either sitting or standing, packed together.

Fatty supported himself with one leg, slouching on the desk, while huddling with Rashid to light a cigarette, listening to Russell recount the experiences along the way from the couch.

”...After annihilating the Jiepeng Sub-fleet stationed at the Bermuda Jump Point, I didn’t immediately enter the jump point.” Russell rubbed his deep brown cigar with his fingers, smiling: ”When the fleet stationed at Rodbia Star rushed to the jump point, I had already turned back to approach Rodbia.”

”Haha.” Fatty laughed, slapping his thigh: ”Three days ago, Hanfrey was battling Douglas, Mikami Yuto was contemplating attacking the Resk Star System, most of the Western Alliance Fleet including the Desic 5th Fleet was in the Leray Central Star Domain, defending against the Southeastern Front Army of the Fei Alliance. And the Jiepeng Sunshine Super Fleet was still on its way. I bet your return shot startled the defense forces of Rodbia a lot. That’s Bermuda’s main star; if lost, the Western Alliance would be in big trouble.”

”No kidding!” Stewart shouted with his naturally loud voice from the side: ”At that time I watched on the long-range viewer’s screen, it was a mess. Warships at the port, soldiers at the dock, scrambled like headless chickens, running in panic. We fired a few rounds, and they all cried for their parents. If we had seriously attacked, Rodbia would be in our hands by now.”

”I wondered why there were only a few reconnaissance ships trailing you from behind.” Fatty thought about it and shook his head: ”Such a large-scale fleet appearing without warning must have sent them into a panic. The surprise assault on the Longbow Star System is a lesson learned. I estimate the fleet heading to chase you has only managed to rush back to defend Rodbia, afraid to move. You made a mess and then just left, passing through the jump point again, no one dared to chase anymore.”
