Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 1138: Chapter 8-1: Mysterious Fleet_4

Fatty didn’t know where those battleships clashing with the Suss Fleet came from, but he had always paid close attention to the Gershkov Fleet.

After Zhang Pengcheng’s Chuckna 12th Group Fleet was defeated, they chose a strategic retreat, along with Carolina’s Feiyang B15 Fleet. It seemed that Gershkov had won, but in the grand scheme of things, his victory was meaningless!

Because Gershkov’s intention to launch an attack on Mars was not only to avenge his A1A2 Fleet but, more importantly, to remove the thorn lodged near the Southeast Main Channel and ensure the safety of the channel. However, when the Longbow Star System was surprise-attacked by the Douglas Fleet, and the Hanfrey Fleet suffered losses, controlling the Southeast Main Channel had become a joke.

Without the Southeast Main Channel, Mars Free Port, which lacks resources, was clearly not the safe haven Gershkov envisioned.

In modern warfare, the importance of logistics is unquestionable.

After the battle of Mars ends, Gershkov’s four Class-A fleets require an astronomical number of energy ammo and supplies. But Zhang Pengcheng won’t leave anything for him on Mars, and the Mars Free Port itself, except for food and water supplies, is very scarce in civilian energy, let alone military energy and weapon ammunition.

More importantly, this planet has long been scavenged clean by the bandit army, leaving no material reserves.

Unable to obtain resupply, even maintaining the fleets might be impossible. Gershkov’s headache must be twice the normal size. He could choose to rule Mars and restore its prosperity; those smuggling ships could bring them a lot of needed supplies. However, they don’t have the time. Moreover, they can only control a few Class A or B channels that their fleets can navigate. They can’t squeeze into those C, D, E channels, nor can they control the myriad of space stations and Freedom Docks; controlling only Mars Free Port is futile.

Upon receiving the news of the Hanfrey Fleet’s defeat, if Gershkov still wants to stay at Mars Free Port, he wouldn’t be considered a great general, but rather a fool! With the retreat path cut off and supply shortages, after the battle, Gershkov probably can’t even chase Zhang Pengcheng’s remnants. So, Fatty hasn’t been too worried about Zhang Pengcheng; as long as he buys enough time, no matter where he goes, Gershkov can’t do anything to him.

Now, Gershkov has only two paths to choose.

One is to head south to the Longbow Star System and reclaim the Blue Stone Star. The other is to go north into the Resk Star System and join forces with Mikami Yuto!

The former path is practically suicidal. So, he’s left with only the second option.

Fatty wasn’t surprised by Gershkov Fleet appearing near Resk. What baffled him was why this fleet, which should have quickly entered the Resk Star System, would idle on this B-grade subsidiary channel. More puzzling was why a dozen Suss battleships would detach from the fleet and their rivals, from unknown origins, engage with them!

”That’s Leefer’s fleet!”

Margaret’s voice was so soft that only Fatty could hear it.

”Is this his war zone?” Fatty’s heart skipped a beat.

Margaret shook her head.

Leefer! Looking at six unmarked, unnumbered battleships, Fatty’s skin suddenly crawled. Without Margaret saying anything, he knew what these ghost-like battleships were here for!

”Are they here for me?” Fatty’s voice trembled, unable to believe his own judgment.

Margaret sighed softly and said, ”You should say they’re here for us. I’m the primary target, you’re the secondary target.”

”How do you know?” Fatty’s voice was shaky.

”Before I left the Longbow Star System, I only speculated until I saw these battleships,” Margaret frowned, seemingly pondering a very important matter: ”Few people know these battleships, and I happen to be one of them.”

Fatty exclaimed, ”Why didn’t you say so sooner?”

Margaret shook her head, her long eyelashes gently fluttering: ”I thought someone would prevent his appearance.” Saying this, Margaret looked at Captain Sechter: ”Captain Sechter, can you control the satellite to search deep into the obstacle area to see if there are any traces of battle.”

”No problem.” Sechter nodded, called in the intelligence officer, and gave the instructions.

Inside the battleship, silence reigned. Only the long-range viewer screen flickered in the energy cannon light.

Besides four fast escort ships, two torpedo boats, and five Sharp Blade-class destroyers, the Suss Fleet even had a Roar-class cruiser. Whereas their opponents consisted of a cruiser and five destroyers. These six battleships weren’t part of Feiyang’s regular active fleet; their models were unknown.

From a strength perspective, the Suss Fleet held absolute advantage!

However, the battle situation seemed unfavorable for the Suss Fleet.

Fatty watched the battle intently, his pupils narrowed from shock, oblivious to the fact that he had been holding Margaret’s hand, his palm already sweaty.

A dazzling white light flashed in the void. The sweeping explosion wave spread into three white rings on an expanding sphere. Surrounding gas dust and floating stones from the obstacle area shot in all directions amid the explosion wave. At the center of the white light, a fiery red sphere appeared, followed by a few black shadows at the red center. Those were the wreckage of the destroyed Suss cruiser!
