Counterfeit Hero

The Leray Fleet officers exchanged smiles.

”Indeed, worthy of being General Russell’s direct disciple,” Major General Pat said with a laugh, holding his wine glass. ”General Russell’s plan was only mentioned briefly, but the rest was fully deduced.”

Pat was Fatty’s supervisor back when he was working as a combat staff in the 6th Research Room. Later, he was promoted and transferred to the Hidden Blade Fleet. He knew Fatty’s deduction abilities like the back of his hand.

Fatty shook his head, his old face rarely blushing.

You must know, being able to deduce the entire plan based on Russell’s description was largely due to having the advantage of knowing Mikami Yuto’s attack on Resk. This was worlds apart from Russell, who was in the midst of the situation.

Russell’s ability to spot opportunities was nothing short of extraordinary, commanding the fleet back then, capturing the Western Alliance’s vulnerability in those few dozen hours when their forces were insufficient, through various clues and intelligence scouting.

He deliberately lured the enemy’s main force out, then ambushed them at Rodbia with a swift strike, forcing them to retreat and defend Rodbia, not daring to pursue. Only then did he truly embark on the vast journey. It further showed his seasoned military tactics, calm and weighty. Any hesitation or mistake here could lead to total annihilation. Fleeting opportunities, in his hands, were utilized to the fullest. This reputation of being a great general wasn’t just blown out of proportion.

Compared to him, I... darn it, must find free time to learn more from the old man, so I don’t get bullied to hell by Margaret during tactical simulations!

”Tell us about yourself,” Russell smiled slightly, seeing Fatty gnashing his teeth, thinking about something. ”After the coup, there was no news of you. I really don’t know how you managed to raise such a fleet.”

Upon hearing Russell’s question, Fatty’s spirit surged. He loved bragging. Then, he passionately recounted his experiences on Mars, gesticulating wildly.

Defeating the Northern Commerce Alliance, capturing Free Port, attacking Suss Transport Ship, modifying ships... one event after another, leaving the Leray officers dazzled.

When Fatty boastfully showed off the warship stealth technology and modular alteration technology, Russell stood up abruptly.

”Is this true?” Russell strode over to Fatty, asking incredulously. The Leray officers beside him also widened their eyes, dumbfounded. Even the most ignorant knew what possessing such technology meant for the Leray Fleet, using the Freedom Channel as a base and battlefield for a long time to come.

It almost guarantees invincibility!

”Of course it’s true!” Fatty, full of pride, chuckled, ”Want to see it? Let’s go behind that planet...”

In space, the Binart Battleship being taken over was gradually joining the formation, while the [Oracle] carrier, under the amazed gaze of the Feiyang Fleet, swiftly hid behind a tan planet with two cruisers.

From the porthole, when a small assault ship vanished into thin air right under the officers’ noses, Fatty was delighted to find that not only were the officers dumbfounded, even Russell’s eyes were wide open.

Too gratifying!

With an extremely strong vanity, Fatty grabbed the communicator, roaring, ”Begin disassembly exercise!”

A rotating turret on the mothership quickly aimed at the cruiser [Magic Cube], and an energy cannon barely bigger than a tennis ball shot across the black void, hitting the cruiser.

The cruiser, disdainful of such attacks, froze for a moment, then suddenly disintegrated in a violent explosion. Watching the bodies, bedding pillows, machine parts, wreckage fragments scatter in the air, then seeing several pieces of ship suddenly activate thrusters and assemble into an attack formation, everyone’s forehead was covered in cold sweat.

No need to say it, this was Fatty’s handiwork.

Many officers couldn’t help but glance at Rashid and Stewart.

Having spent so much time in the Bermuda Star System, everyone was already well aware of these two scoundrels from Bandit Army One and Bandit Army Two. Fatty’s warriors in these two brigades, which one wasn’t proud of sneak attacks and feigning death? Which one’s feigning death performance wasn’t lifelike, covered in black paint, sparking with electricity, trembling like a sieve?

They never feared the feigned death power would be seen through after one use. Encountering a team in battle that can’t be trusted even when fully dead is an absolute nightmare for everyone.

Leaving behind a group of officers exclaiming by the porthole, Russell beckoned Fatty over, sitting on the sofa.

”If we were to modify all our warships similarly and add stealth devices, how long would it take?” Russell pondered, extinguishing his cigar in the ashtray.

”Two years!” Gone was Fatty’s proud expression, he hung his head dejectedly.

This wasn’t a modification project for a few battleships and cruisers. The bandit army had ballooned to eight A-class fleets in scale. Never mind that many warships, just modifying the Feiling and the two carriers in the Hidden Blade Fleet would tire out the base’s mechanics. Saying two years was Fatty’s boastful result, including the Hidden Blade Fleet’s mechanics and equipment.

”Two years?” Russell shook his head, ”No, it’s too long. We need to form combat power within half a year. Is there a way?”

”This requires a lot of materials and equipment. We’re not lacking in technicians,” Fatty chuckled, pointing at the Longbow Star System interstellar map at the blue planet, rubbing his hands together, ”It’s up to you, teacher.”

”Blue Stone Star?” Russell looked at the interstellar map, nodding faintly, and waved as if it were perfectly natural, ”It’s ours then.”
