Counterfeit Hero

Look, the scholar encounters the soldier; reasoning is futile.

Hanfrey was struck dumb by Fatty’s blow, seeing stars. He had met many people but never anyone like this. Moreover, this Fatty was a Major General of Leray. Didn’t he have any regard for his status and honor?

”Hurry up....” Fatty prodded Hanfrey with a mace: ”Order your fleet to immediately shut down the power cabins. Surrender your battleships, and I’ll leave you a few transport ships to take you back.”

Hanfrey closed his eyes. If he returned like this, the entire Hanfley Family would face catastrophic doom. Not to mention the nobles who held a grudge against the Hanfley Family; even the Imperial Family would not spare him!

Only those who truly understood that person knew his terrifying nature.

”Just what kind of person is he?” Claudia’s sparkling eyes gazed at the silent, battered aircraft carrier in the starry sky.

”A bastard and a genius,” Douglas’s gaze followed Claudia’s eyes towards the huge floor-to-ceiling porthole. The light of the constant star cast upon the silent asteroid. In the distant universe, it was like a pearl-spattered dark curtain. Brightly lit battleships floated quietly in the void, with the Binart Empire Fleet seen only as a faint shadow in the distance.

”Without this bastard, maybe we never would...” Claudia, sensing Douglas’s firm arm, raised her graceful chin, her eyes shimmering with tears. At this moment, she looked nothing like the valiant ship captain who had led battleships to their limits.

”I owe him a life!” Douglas looked out at the window at the already battle-scarred Battleship Mermaid, his arm involuntarily tightening. Everything that had happened left him shaken to the core.

”I can’t believe it,” Claudia’s gaze swept over the dirty, tattered hulls of the bandit army warships: ”In the universe, there’s actually such a fleet. Their technology, tactics, and their Mecha... I’m afraid even Leefer’s ace army lacks such power. Who would believe they are merely a Mixed Army from the Mars Free World.”

”When are we going over?” Claudia turned back.

”I’m in contact with the Command Department.” Douglas glanced at the time: ”I fear that the current Command Department has already gone mad. Especially your uncle, Admiral McKinley, the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Space Navy. You and any fleet are his lifeline!”

As soon as Douglas finished speaking, the voice of Chief of Staff Pang Mingjian came from the room’s communicator: ”General Douglas, the Command Department has made contact.”

”Understood, I’ll be right there.” Douglas and Claudia exchanged smiles.

”I think you’d better hurry...” Pang Mingjian’s lowered voice carried a hint of tension and helplessness: ”This might be the time when Feiyang Headquarters has most gathered great generals. They probably need good news. I’ve just received intelligence... Resk Canglang Star encountered a surprise attack by the Jiepeng Fleet. It has already fallen. Chuckna Li Marshal was trapped in Canglang Star, along with more than a hundred senior officers of school rank and above, as well as the Alliance’s new Mecha experiment team.”
