Counterfeit Hero

Beside her, Fang Xiang quietly wiped away her tears. Next to her, Margaret lowered her head and vigorously blinked, trying to conceal the inexplicable tears welling up in her eyes.

Women’s emotions are always richer than men’s.

Though they were not Leray people, they understood what the Leray Federation had gone through in this war. What kind of men could be more like men than these tearful soldiers, this pair of master and apprentice with reddened eyes?

Through their blurred teary eyes, the two women saw a little boy, like a delicate piece of jade, glance at them before dashing toward Fatty.

”Daddy... boo hoo... Daddy.”

Welcoming the little boy was Fatty’s big foot.

”You’re disgusting me, aren’t you?!” Fatty’s face was full of uncontrollable joy as he kicked the little kid in the face, then rushed up to grab and squeeze the little kid’s face, mixing punches and kicks.

Fang Xiang and Margaret were suddenly stunned... Fatty’s son? This question was immediately overshadowed by their overwhelming sympathy for the little boy.

”What are you doing?!” On her first sight, completely conquered by the little boy’s cuteness, Margaret rushed up as if running a hundred-meter sprint, scooped up the pitiful little boy covered in footprints into her arms. She glared at Fatty, ”How can you lay a hand on the child?!”

”Boo... boo...” The little kid quickly started sobbing, burying his head into Margaret’s ample chest, twisting back and forth, desperately trying to suffocate himself: ”... Daddy hit me.”

Feeling the little boy’s trembling body in her arms, Margaret was trembling with rage and tears flowed immediately. She never expected to witness such a vicious scene at this moment. That utterly idiotic Fatty welcomed his long-lost son with a harsh beating that even a Special Soldier couldn’t handle.

As they spoke, Fang Xiang also stepped forward, looking at Fatty as if she did not recognize him: ”Do you have any humanity left? He’s your son!”

These two silly women. Fatty was simultaneously laughing and crying, awkwardly turning his head away from them.

Nearby, the bandit army soldiers were all dumbfounded. Surprisingly, dozens of Leray officers had surrounded Fatty, two Army Colonels—one tall and one short—were hugging Fatty with smiles and seemed to be taking pleasure in his outrageous behavior of hitting his son.

The little kid was still trembling, seeing Fang Xiang approaching, the little rascal quickly compared the altitude of the two women’s breasts, then turned his head and plunged into Fang Xiang’s bosom, tearfully calling out: ”Mom!”

Like a bolt of lightning, silence descended in the flight cabin, so quiet one could hear a pin drop.

Amidst the astonished gazes of Margaret and the bandit army officers, and the amused expressions of the Leray officers, Fang Xiang’s face suddenly turned red all the way to her ears.

”I’m not...”

Fang Xiang hurriedly tried to deny it. But the little kid’s immensely pitiful expression, his tearful large eyes, and his crying call made her denial weak and powerless.

”Mom, you don’t want me either. I miss you so much, I’ve been looking for you for so long.” The little rascal cried while arching his buttocks, burrowing into Fang Xiang’s soft chest.

Fang Xiang really wanted to throw this little rascal who randomly recognized moms down. However, upon seeing the boy’s chubby face, curly hair, and clear eyes, she couldn’t harden her heart. And to her utter despair, when she turned her eyes toward Fatty for help, that damned Fatty unexpectedly put his hand in his mouth, also with a face of shock and bewilderment, seemingly recalling when he and her...

Fatty, you’re dead!

The Akasa Fortress slowly rotated.

The starlight vanished silently as the circular functional cabin turned, and the night sky outside the large windows of the operations room was already a sea of stars.

The communication screen had disappeared for a long time. On the virtual screen, only a few bands of colorful light clusters remained drifting. The generals looked at each other, unable to hide their shock. McKinley, Rabinowski, Marach, Houseni... one by one, these stormy generals directed their gazes at Bernadotte.

Bernadotte had gone mad, and his Major General seemed mad as well.

How could a small fleet possibly break through the airspace blocked by Jiepeng’s two Super Fleets and Suss’s eight A-Class fleets? Not to mention the bandit army, even if combined with Douglas’s Nineteen Group Fleet, it would still be a suicide mission.

Bear in mind, that’s the power at the bottom of the Western Alliance’s two great empires. The elite level of the soldiers and the advanced nature of the warships and weapons equipment are far from comparable to ordinary fleets. Plus, with the renowned General Mikami Yuto personally stationed to command, along with the dozens of elite Unhindered Stride Army divisions on the ground, the defense system of Canglang Star is as sealed and impenetrable as an iron barrel.

Rescuing people from Canglang Star, under this shroud of power, is simply a fool’s dream. And, from the sound of Fatty, it seems that this time he plans to go to Canglang Star without bringing the entire fleet... God, what are these Leray people thinking?

The generals’ eyes fell on Bernadotte’s face. Many among them had only heard about Leray’s performance in the war. They hadn’t really paid much attention to this low-key Leray Admiral on ordinary days. But today’s events forced them, in their extreme shock, to reassess their attitudes.
