Counterfeit Hero

Leray is not an insignificant country. Even though this nation is now fractured, even though they are left with a pitifully small army, still no one can ignore her presence.

Four years of the war of national defense have forged this country into a monster born for war.

They are tenacious, fierce, and fearless of any enemy or authority. In their nature resides an air of indifference and boldness. Their admirals dare to accept those almost suicide-like missions without flinching, and their major generals dare to accept orders without hesitation, pointing at the nose of the world’s most ruthless and powerful Admiral Leefer, cursing him furiously.

Before the war, they were still living in indulgence, lost in dreams, chasing pleasure and money in peace. At that time, their military power ranked behind the fortieth place. But when the war arrived, they had become the fiercest warriors in the world. To defend their country, their dignity, and freedom, they were willing and dared to sacrifice everything.

Who can belittle a nation where thirty million young people have stepped forward and laid down their lives on the battlefield?

Their capital was captured, their country collapsed, yet their aggressiveness did not diminish because of this. They are a pack of hungry wolves, yet also mad dogs! Whoever stands in their way should always watch out, lest they get a chunk of flesh bitten off!

At this moment, seeing Bernadotte’s slightly plump and calm face, the generals feel a chill more than anything else.

In self-reflection, if it were their own country, their own army in such dire straits, could they, like this chief admiral of the Leray Military Department, accept that terrifying mission without changing their expression? Could their army, like the Leray army, create such miraculous achievements in Mars and the Longbow Star System with just an exiled destroyer?

Impossible! Except for a group of stubborn lunatics, no one can reach such a level.

”Hmph...” A cold snort interrupted the generals’ thoughts.

”General Bernadotte, I wish you and your subordinates a bit of good luck in the coming period!” Leefer stepped to Bernadotte’s side, and as he passed by, slowed his pace and said coldly: ”Besides, you better have Major General Tian Xingjian notify that so-called Sect Mutual Aid Alliance, to behave well. There is no third power between the Fei Alliance and the Western Alliance. If they make any misconstrued moves, I don’t mind personally wiping them out!”

”A small fleet, a ragtag group, should understand how much capital they truly have.” Leefer’s eyes, sharp as a hawk, scanned around, and he continued blandly: ”Additionally, tell General Tian, he should learn the most basic things about being a person.......”

”You say it yourself!”

Leefer’s words were rudely interrupted by Bernadotte.

Amidst the sound of gasps in the room, Bernadotte completely ignored the throbbing vein on Leefer’s forehead and said disdainfully: ”In terms of military rank, we are peers. In terms of position, General Leefer, you have no say over me. Asking me to deliver a message for you, you think too highly of yourself. It seems, Major General Tian’s warning earlier didn’t register with you at all.”

After speaking, Bernadotte gave Leefer a slight glance, walked to the control console, and began studying the battle report of the Canglang Star, ignoring Leefer.

From the heart, Bernadotte does not wish to offend Leefer. However, he cannot stand to see someone bully his subordinates face-to-face. In Leefer’s eyes, Tian Xingjian is just a small major general from a small country. But in Bernadotte’s eyes, Tian Xingjian is a treasure! He is the darling of all Leray people! Only Leray people understand what that Fatty means to their country.

Bernadotte is calm and steady, but when it comes to defending his people, he’s no worse than any other Leray general. Being protective is originally a tradition of the Leray military. He feels he has nothing to reconsider about this.

Bullying Bernadotte is one thing, but bullying his soldiers, not even Leefer, let alone Hastings, can do! Even if it offends the entire universe, he doesn’t care. Leray borrowing Fei Alliance’s power is not to rely on it! Leray wants to stand up again solely on its own. Bernadotte understood this early in the start of the war.

The whole operations room suddenly fell into dead silence.

Looking at Leefer’s livid face, the generals couldn’t help but sweat cold. Bernadotte’s few words were more humiliating than publicly slapping Leefer ten times. That Fatty on the virtual screen earlier had already impressed everyone present. Unexpectedly, Bernadotte’s words were equally sharp.

These two Leray men, one young one old, one after the other, lecturing Leefer just like scolding a son. Not sparing an ounce of face. These Leray people, indeed.....

The generals turned their gaze toward Leefer; they could even feel the biting killing intent emanating from him!

”Very well!”

Leefer, deserving of his name, quickly controlled his emotions. The intense killing intent and tension dissipated like a tide. He turned around, flanked by two expressionless major generals, and walked toward the operations room door. Lightly he said: ”When I have the opportunity, I will personally teach Major General Tian what politeness is.”
