Counterfeit Hero

”General! The bandit army is requesting directed communication!”

The cry from the communications officer beside him abruptly snapped Douglas’s attention back from the virtual screen.

”What?” Douglas was startled and urged, ”Quick, connect!”

While issuing the order, he habitually glanced out of the porthole and at the radar screen. However, apart from the Feiyang battleships clustered around him in a Triangle Attack Formation, gradually entering the asteroid belt filled with floating stones from the empty void, he didn’t see any ship that could engage in directed communication with him.

”General! It’s Colonel Margaret!” As soon as the image flashed on the communication screen, the Chief of Staff Pang Mingjian exclaimed in surprise.

”Margaret...” Douglas grabbed the communicator and said, ”Those two Mechas, are they...”

Halfway through his sentence, Douglas suddenly stopped.

On the screen, Margaret sighed and said, ”Of course I know those two Mechas are the Binart Empire’s Twelfth Generation Mechas...”

”Then why...” Douglas could not hide his surprise.

”Never mind, it’s hard to explain at the moment...” Margaret rubbed her forehead in distress, smiling bitterly, ”Have your fleet change formation, don’t engage with the enemy, directly break into the central battle zone... We’re preparing to capture Hanfrey!”

”Capture Hanfrey?” Douglas couldn’t believe his ears. He looked at Margaret, then at the bandit army warship control room hall behind Margaret, ”Are you saying... they can win?”

The moment his words fell, a thunderous cheer erupted in his ear.

What happened? Douglas rapidly turned his head.

On the virtual screen, ten Green Mechas surrounded Hanfrey’s escape pod.

Five of the Mechas were dragging the escape pod back, while the other five were leisurely attacking the escape pod’s energy shield with energy cannons or ion light sabers.

And on the other side, ten Green Mechas and two ”Judgers” had become two dazzling light groups. At the instant the cheer broke out, one of the ”Judgers” was kicked hard in the abdomen by a Green Mecha, lightning-fast.

Douglas’s eyes widened!

In his field of vision, the ”Judger” that made the entire Fei Alliance’s upper echelons wary, bent like a dead leaf in the autumn wind, flew over a hundred meters...

”Come on!” Fatty grinned, his Mecha beckoning with a finger, ”Metalhead, stunned?”

Kohen finally steadied his Mecha, raising his head in shock. Not far away, Brid was struggling and overwhelmed amid the storm-like attacks from five Green Mechas. Around him, four Green Mechas surrounded him entirely. In front, the obvious leader among the Green Mechas was floating proudly with arms crossed before Kohen. Fingers poked out from the elbow, beckoning.

How could this be! Kohen’s hands trembled violently. His face turned pale with horror.

The control pod filled with nutrient fluid bubbled with green bubbles. The silver-white metal data cables inserted into his brain stretched taut due to Kohen’s anxious movement. The computer screen on the pod cover flickered, the electronic signal conversion system automatically translating the electronic codes sent by the opponent... The term ”metalhead” stung his eyes!

They know him?!

Suddenly, Kohen felt the world was in chaos.

Just seconds ago, when he and Brid believed victory was assured, twenty Mechas charged in divided into three groups.

Of those, ten weren’t targeting him and Brid but instead charged directly towards the escape pod that had lost its main power, using steering propulsion and inertia for flight, facing one side of the five Green Mechas.

Using ten Mechas to entangle, the other ten Mechas attacked the escape pod... Such a childish, simple, low-level, blatant tactic! It was simply a naked humiliation!

Enraged, Kohen swore to shatter the twenty Mechas before him.

He wanted these people to understand what truly constituted a Mecha!

Just as he prepared to unleash his slaughter, the foremost Green Mecha launched an attack with a knee strike!

From the first move of the opponent’s attack, Kohen realized he underestimated them. The Mech Knight attacking him undeniably had strength surpassing the Level 9 Warriors of the Binart Empire!

However... Kohen sneered. After undergoing modification, his control now met the hand speed standard of seventy-five actions per second. Such speed was an overwhelming advantage for any Mech Knight relying on hand speed for Mecha control. He had never encountered a Mech Knight with higher hand speed than this. He had absolute confidence in his prowess.

The ”Judger” would rewrite the history of all Mechas. Any Mecha remotely controlled by hands was nothing but a victim in front of a Transformed Mecha.

Discovering the opponent held an Advanced Mecha Warrior was a bizarre thrill.

Such a Mecha Master was a rare find. Once, he was merely a Level 8 Mecha Warrior, but now he had the power to ridicule and kill a Level 10 or even Level 11 Mech Knight in the cruelest manner.

There was nothing more exhilarating than killing a king in the eye of ordinary people at such a pivotal battle.

As the opponent approached, Kohen flicked his hand, the ion light saber descending with a mighty thunder. He wanted to stain this void red with the blood of the Advanced Mecha Warrior. He intended to make the other Mech Knights following this master understand that their revered master was merely a lamb to be slaughtered at his whim!

His intention was to instill despair in everyone!

But just as his ion light saber was about to cleave the Green Mecha in half, he suddenly lost sight of it, only to feel a sidekick striking his shoulder.

What unfolded next became a nightmare.

A dizzying array of attacks followed. Five Mechas, like phantoms, shook around him, countless fists, countless kicks, pelting the Mecha like storm and rain. Movement, defense, counterattack... Every subconscious thought eventually boiled down to a single Mecha action—parry! Aimless parry! Parrying like a drowned rat!

Until he was kicked in the abdomen and flew far away.

Kohen stared fiercely at the transparent cockpit of the Mecha in front of him. Inside it, a chubby white figure, fingers gestured provocatively like his Mecha. A bouncing half eyebrow was flaunting an undisguised provocation!

Kohen shifted his gaze around. Four Green Mechas formed four diagonal angles, enclosing him.

The cockpit transparent Mech Knights inside varied in appearance, age differences clear, all appearing quite leisurely. The corners of their mouths revealed a hint of a smile. A sneer and mockery-laden smile identical to the chubby metal face of their piloted Mechas.

Their signal lights flashed.

”Pray, moron!”

A surge of blood rushed to his head. Kohen finally understood that the Mech Knights mustered high action speeds of sixty or even seventy, not individually, but collectively!

This was a crowd of Super Mechanics with unimaginable Mecha Fighting skills! Their hand speed might fall short of his, during a single combat, they might even be his knockout victims, but their fighting skills were so exquisite and their teamwork so mighty!

They played with him. In the previous encounter, they hadn’t exerted their full strength!

For them, it was a cat-and-mouse game!

With a low roar, Kohen rushed up, his right-hand ion light saber sweeping a crescent arc, both legs underfoot posed for trampling sweeps, swift as Thunderbolt lightning.

”Desperate?” Fatty confrontationally countered powerfully with his presence blooming like a warrior, dodging artfully, waving, ”Go!”

Baz, Weiseler, Wagstaff, Meng Xun... Four Mech Knights capable of inciting envy wherever they went in any nation simultaneously flashed, a skillful joint strike wedging the ”Judger” in the center, four ebony-blue ion daggers aimed at ”Judger” from every angle.
