Counterfeit Hero

The two [Judgers] almost simultaneously retracted their towing engines.

The scorpion-claw external towing engine is used when facing fighter planes or distant battleships. For small-scale engagements between mechas, the auxiliary thruster on the back and soles of the mecha is already sufficient.

When the engines split into small blocks, retracting into two small olive shapes and stowed into the storage compartments on the sides of the mechas, Kohen and Brid sent out a series of light signals toward the twenty incoming Bandit Army Mechas.

The entire world seemed to suddenly quiet down.

The frenzied clash of fighter groups no longer attracted the attention of the soldiers rapidly converging on the central battlefield. The glowing clusters and chains of light, the dogfights of the fighter jets disappeared from view.

The only things that remained were the twenty Green Fatty Mechas, the two composed [Judgers], and... the six signaling lights simultaneously flashing on the shoulders of the two [Judgers].

Light signals have been used in the human world for thousands of years. Modern light signals are more sophisticated than those of ancient Earth periods, conveying more meanings, more precise, and simpler. As a signal method used when the electronic systems of spacecraft are disrupted, in distress situations, or emergencies, modern spaceflight regulations clearly require every crew member to master this basic skill before their first departure from the ground into space.

Therefore, when Kohen and Brid sent out the light signals, everyone was in an uproar.

The signal from the [Judgers] was simple: ”Make your final prayer.”

The straightforward, audacious signal was so dazzling in the blackness of space. Amid the flashing lights, the glow from the thruster’s flowing light brightened as the [Judgers] slowly moved to meet the Bandit Army Mechas.

The two identical [Judgers], like ancient Spartan Warriors. Their movements were smooth and fluid. A hint of nonchalance, a hint of ruthlessness. As if they were merely facing twenty ants.

”Frogs at the bottom of a well! An ant trying to stop a chariot!” A captain of a Binart Battlecruiser used these eight words to annotate the fate of the twenty Green Mechas. He took out a bottle of fine wine, opened the cap without hesitation, and offered the Bandit Army his last two words: ”Foolish!”

To him, the battle was already over!

This fleet from the Mars Free World simply didn’t understand what the [Judgers] meant to the mainstream human society, to this war! If they knew that not long ago in the Catalonia Star System, a standard combat squad of [Judgers] defeated a group of three Fei Alliance Armored Divisions, perhaps they wouldn’t have done something as foolish as to oppose two [Judgers] with twenty mechas!!

The lack of insight makes them foolish. And on the battlefield, foolishness... will cost lives! The light signals sent out by Kohen and Brid weren’t arrogant. They were merely stating a fact!

The fatigue of over a hundred hours of battle, the intense tension of the past few minutes, already swept away. The entire Hanfrey Fleet’s officers and soldiers relaxed their tense bodies, leaning back in their seats. Officers exchanged smiles. Soldiers laughed and whispered to each other, shaking hands and high-fiving.

Stacks of bills were placed on the strategists’ simulation tables.

The captains of the various ships smiled and turned a blind eye to it.

Tackling two hundred Hawks by two lions might make everyone a bit nervous, but against twenty mongrels.... what else is there to worry about? Now, all they need to do is bet on how long these twenty clueless mechas can hold out.

While the Binart people were relaxed, within the Feiyang Fleet there was a dead silence. Everyone’s palms were sweaty with tension.

The ordinary Feiyang soldiers had only heard rumors about these mechas. This was due to the Fei Alliance top brass’s information blockade regarding these mechas.

However, the truth cannot be hidden. The Ryan Republic’s catastrophic defeat in the Catalonia Star System has caused various rumors about these mechas to spread like wildfire. And in these rumors, the description of these mechas was even more terrifying than the mechas themselves displayed. Many Feiyang soldiers had heard that a [Judger] alone could massacre a Feiyang Armored Group!

Many of them did not believe it initially.

However, the prudent reticence regarding the Evergreen Vine campaign’s failure, along with the strange performance they witnessed of this mecha amidst the dense Bandit Army fighter group, plunged their hearts to the bottom. The hope that had just started warming up grew cold once more.

Douglas was naturally the one with the most complex feelings.

At this time, he could no longer sit still. He, along with Pang Mingjian and many strategists temporarily without assignments, walked to the front of the command platform, directly facing the main virtual screen in the hall, watching intently and holding their breath.

He knew the [Judger]’s prowess, and he also knew Fatty’s might, but he felt uncertain about the mechas behind Fatty.

It was like two swords about to engage in the fiercest clash! Who would win? Who would lose?! A mix of despair and hope. Such emotions undoubtedly were a form of torture!

Fortunately, this torment didn’t last long.

In just a few seconds, the twenty Green Mechas had already confronted the [Judgers]. In response to the enemy’s provocation, the leading Green Mecha rushed forward without a word, launching a knee strike...
