Counterfeit Hero

Bai Jun’s heart was pounding violently.

He knew he had encountered the most terrifying opponent of his life.

He had already sent an emergency signal to the leading aircraft to designate the attack target. He knew that the escape pods in other directions were being shot down or captured one by one, so no fool would use a diversion tactic now to deceive anyone.

He was completely certain that Hanfrey was right in front of him!

In the distance, several bandit army jets were speeding toward him. Now, he had to hold this escape pod.

Bai Jun spat on the ground and gently pushed the control stick.

”Screw you!”

The [Dragon Warrior], like a black ghost, moved toward the escape pod under the cover of the asteroid.

”[Judger]! Twelfth Generation Mecha of the Binart Empire!”

At the first glance of the two mechas on the long-range viewer screen, Douglas instantly recognized this type of mecha, which was already causing quite a stir among Feiyang’s high command.

Douglas had spent considerable effort to understand these mechas.

In a certain sense, this was no longer just about an advanced mecha.

The combat power displayed by [Judger] in battles between the Ryan Republic and the Naga Federation was enough for the Fei Alliance Military to classify it as a strategic weapon capable of influencing the entire war situation.

Everyone understood that once the Binart Empire armed themselves massively with such mechas, the Fei Alliance’s ground forces would be prepared for a complete collapse!

In that battle that took place on Evergreen Vine Star, the main star of the Catalonia Star System in the Naga Federation. Outfitted with Ninth Generation [Heaven’s Punishment] mechas, the Feiyang’s 139th Armored Division and the Ryan Republic’s 105th and 331st Armored Divisions unraveled in front of just a single platoon of [Judger] mechas!

Even though two armored divisions from the Naga Federation followed behind this one platoon of [Judger]s, it was this single Mechanical Armor Team that completed the frontal breakthrough attack!

That battle directly led to the Ryan Republic losing the strategic advantage it had painstakingly built up since the start of the war. They lost the Catalonia Star System, which was about to fall into their hands, and fell back into a stalemate with the Naga Federation.

Not only in ground combat, but this kind of mecha was equally terrifying in space combat. In the footage brought back at great cost by a Military Intelligence Bureau agent, this kind of mecha seemed to enter and exit the battlefield of attacking warships effortlessly.

If such mechas had appeared in peacetime, the Feiyang Republic would have had a chance to catch up. But they came about during this war—or rather, they were hidden by the Binart Empire until now and then deployed. When this heavy weight was placed on the scales of war, the entire Fei Alliance was left helpless, watching victory tilt toward the Western Alliance.

Had these mechas not appeared, how could the Fei Alliance have possibly shared its cutting-edge technology with its allied countries, establishing a research base in Chuckna to wholly study Twelfth Generation mechas?!

The most regrettable thing is that not a single one of these mechas has been captured until now.

The Binart Empire has already deployed [Judger]s in many places for combat. Perhaps it’s the final test, or maybe it’s preparation for mass production and deployment; in any case, there have been quite a few opportunities to encounter this kind of mecha. However, after great efforts to destroy one or two of them, all that’s left is a heap of scrap metal. As the highest state secret of the Binart Empire, the protection measures for these mechas have been made extremely tight.

Obtaining one of these mechas has become a chronic concern for all senior commanders of the Fei Alliance.

Douglas is no exception.

Compared to commanders from other allied countries, he has access to more and more detailed intelligence information.

Therefore, when these two mechas appeared before his eyes, he just felt a ”buzz” in his head, rendering him completely stunned.

Looking at the escape pod being escorted by the two mechas, and then glancing at the Binart fighter jet formations getting closer to the central war zone, Douglas truly felt a sense of despair.

The cards in Hanfrey’s hand were too abundant!

With these two mechas capable of rivaling warships as escorts and with one thousand two hundred [Thunderbolts] already by their side, Hanfrey could even leisurely light a cigar inside the escape pod.

And just before this escape pod appeared, Douglas could clearly feel the wavering and despair of the Binart Fleet.

Everything would have been beautiful without these two mechas!

Douglas slowly sat down. This battle was nearing its end. He was already exhausted. From hell to heaven, from heaven to hell, repeatedly; no matter how strong his nerves or heart were, they couldn’t withstand such torment!

On the screen, the Bandit Army Fleet seemed to have already discovered the two mechas and the escape pod. Over a dozen of the nearest fighter jets charged forward. The onboard Energy Cannons were all aimed at the escape pod. Countless energy cannon light chains interwove into a light web.

But what use was it.

Douglas gave a bitter smile. As expected, all the light webs were blocked by the energy shields on the arms of the two mechas moving at ghost-like speeds. And that escape pod was clearly not an ordinary item; a few shots hit its exterior but only stirred a few ripples.

Douglas checked the time; in these few short seconds, the two mechas had already shot down four fighter jets.
