Counterfeit Hero

Until now, Bai Jun still finds it hard to believe.

A top speed over twice that of the original aircraft, sensitive and precise radar and fire control systems, an energy shield of up to 200 nodes, even taking a direct hit from the main cannon of a Destroyer would not fully collapse it. Moreover, hitting a high-speed fighter with the main cannon is as difficult as hitting a fly with a cannon.

Coupled with faster acceleration efficiency, more powerful attack firepower, and more agile maneuverability... this fighter is simply a natural space assassin. A terrifying battle machine!

After the Longbow defensive battle, the remaining nine hundred [Gladiator] fighters from the aircraft carrier were eventually upgraded. With the addition of stealth devices, they were transformed into three hundred [Dragon Warrior] fighters.

Due to a lack of equipment and instruments, and because they needed to acquire immediately usable parts from the same types of fighters, the number of fighters was drastically reduced during the modification process. At the time, many people were dissatisfied with that bunch of technology maniacs and that fatty crazier than a madman.

But now, that dissatisfaction has long been thrown to the wind.

That fatty is a true Mechanical Master. Only he knows what the pilots engaged in battle truly desire!

Where is the next prey?!

The [Dragon Warrior] gracefully draws an arc in the air, turning its head around.

Bai Jun’s sharp eyes search through the void filled with flowing lights and on the radar, suddenly his eyes fixate.

”What is that?!”

In front of him, the carrier already breaking from the center suddenly had a change. More than a dozen escape pods, with streaming sparks, were shot into space from various ejection ports.

The communication channel was filled with noise, and then he heard Colonel Clement’s voice: ”First squadron, gather on me immediately, second squadron first company, second company, immediately flank widely and surround the wings. Third squadron, disengage from combat and intercept the enemy fighter group. Second squadron third company, be on standby, maintain distance, ready to provide support at any time. The enemy is trying to escape, destroy all escape pods!”

”Understood!”

All the bandit army pilots responded in unison.

Obviously, the enemy fleet’s Commander Hanfrey is in these escape pods. Therefore, not a single one can be let go!

Bai Jun pulled the control stick, and the fighter suddenly skimmed past the burning, rolling wreckage of a Binart Battlecruiser, eyes locked onto an escape pod ejected from the top of the carrier.

To an excellent pilot, a slow-moving, defensively weak escape pod without weapons is just a sitting duck! Although, according to war conventions, escape pods launched from destroyed ships can’t be killed at will, Bai Jun doesn’t mind opening fire if the escape pod doesn’t heed warnings and insists on fleeing. The scene where Longbow Fleet’s escape pods were cold-bloodedly shot by the Suss Fleet still lingered in his mind. Now, it was his turn to take an eye for an eye!

”In the name of God!”

The X-shaped tail propulsion, and the two-wing steering propulsion, flickered intermittently. With the different propulsion forces, the fighter navigated through the dense space-floating rocks. Two seconds later, Bai Jun pressed down on the nose of the aircraft, the fighter glided under an oblong asteroid, and after reaching the bottom, silently ascended, clinging to the uneven rocky surface, and one second later, the crosshairs of the Energy Cannon locked onto the escape pod attempting to flee in the direction of the enemy aircraft group.

”Stop or I will fire!”

The [Dragon Warrior] transmitted with universal electronic code.

The escape pod being targeted seemed to completely disregard the [Dragon Warrior], continuing its escape.

”Courting death!” Bai Jun sneered, was just about to pull the trigger.

At that moment, a sudden, inexplicable danger fell upon Bai Jun, and he instinctively pulled the control stick, and the tail propulsion of the fighter suddenly brightened. The [Dragon Warrior] suddenly darted forward.

Almost simultaneously, the alarm of the fighter shrieked sharply, an arcing flash grazed past the tail of the fighter.

Bai Jun didn’t know what ambushed him, he only knew that the presence was tightly locked on him, extremely fast. If there was even the slightest negligence, he would be shredded to pieces!

The fighter changed course repeatedly in the air, the radar alarm screaming continuously. On the blinking screen, a light dot almost overlapped with the center of the fighter. No matter how the fighter changed direction, it could not shake it off. Finally, a small asteroid saved Bai Jun. As he squeezed past the asteroid into a dense cluster of floating rocks, the radar alarm disappeared.

Bai Jun sharply pulled up the aircraft nose and pressed the emergency signal. He needed to go back. That closely guarded escape pod definitely had a problem!

When the fighter re-emerged from countless asteroids, Bai Jun finally saw the enemy who had terrified him into a cold sweat.

It was a bizarre Mecha!

With two scorpion-like engines, a head shaped like that of an ancient Spartan Warrior helmet, leaf-like shoulder guards, a slender and muscular body and limbs, a flat chest, no transparent cockpit cover like typical Mechas. A light shield on the left arm. In the right hand, held a ghostly blue ion light saber!

Two identical Mechas guarded near the escape pod he had just tried to attack, covering the escape pod’s departure. Their movements, terrifyingly agile under the traction of those strange engines. Several incoming Energy Cannons were deflected by the light shields on their arms.
