Counterfeit Hero

The A1 Fleet has broken free! Douglas quietly looked at Pang Mingjian. Their eyes met, and both saw many things in each other’s gaze.

As partners, some things need not be spoken. Over the years, the formidable Feiyang Army, prioritizing national interests above all, was better aware than anyone of the decisions they would make in similar situations.

Douglas smiled slightly, saying, ”Let them launch an attack. Now is not the time for them to rest.”

”Yes!” Pang Mingjian responded loudly.

Though their voices seemed overly loud, to the officers and soldiers beside them, it was truly inspiring!

This is the most monumental war humanity has ever faced. To win it requires courage, unity, and wisdom, not selfishness and betrayal! Now Feiyang must change!

”We have an hour......”

Douglas’s gaze landed on the Binart flagship that had lost its energy shield.

Not far from the flagship, countless Bandit Fighters repeatedly tried to break through the Escort Ship defenses. That was their Allies. They were so fearless; their battles stirred the soul.

Watching these fighters, Douglas’s mind was dominated by a single thought: ”Regardless of winning or losing, life or death.... I absolutely refuse to let the wings of dreams be sullied by filth and villainy!”

”Report, the First Fighter Squadron encountered enemy [Feiling] Fleet Fighter Group interceptors, distance between both parties is twelve thousand kilometers. Estimated contact in thirty seconds!” The fleet liaison officer reported loudly from the command desk.

Take a gamble, Hanfrey! My mission is to draw out all your cards! This time, let’s switch our attack-defense positions. It’s my turn to attack! Even if this assault is only for me to posture!

Douglas picked up the communicator.

”Divide the fighters into two attack clusters. Order the second, fourth, sixth, eighth, and tenth fighter squadrons to form the Second Fighter Formation and intercept enemy fighter groups. The First Fighter Cluster, veer right by 400 degrees, accelerate forward, don’t engage in dogfighting! Tell them their mission is to collaborate with the Bandit Fighter Group to attack the carrier, no matter the sacrifice, they must engage in battle within six minutes!”

”Understood!”

The order, transmitted through the fleet’s SkyNet network, was sent to each fighter’s computer.

Almost the moment the order arrived, the Feiyang Fighter group, traveling at high speed in a triangular attack formation, began to break apart. The left-wing of the formation, comprising six hundred fighters from five squadrons, rotated left by 900 degrees, heading towards the rapidly approaching Binart Fighter Group. Meanwhile, the central and right-wing Feiyang Fighters quickly shifted positions, reconstituting into a triangular attack formation and continuing to charge toward the central battlefield.

High-speed space battles have always been calculated in seconds.

Within seconds, the Feiyang Fighter Second Formation, tasked with cover, was embroiled in a melee with the advancing Binart Fighter Group. Countless energy cannon lights streaked across the cosmos, turning orderly formations into chaotic two-fighter teams, with both sides engaged in fierce dogfights, entangling, slashing, exerting every effort to chase and bite.

”First Cluster, follow me, charge forward!”

Seeing the Second Fighter Formation block the enemy, Colonel Avery, the lead pilot of the First Fighter Cluster, shouted. Twelve hundred fighters instantly ramped their speed to the limit.

Interceptor cannon lights surged past the sides of the fighter cluster, and dozens of fighters on the formation’s perimeter transformed into balls of fire.

However, this did not slow the breakthrough stride of the First Cluster. Every pilot gritted their teeth, pushing their control sticks to the limit.

Two seconds later, under cover of the Second Formation, they had eluded the intercepting enemy fighter group and surged into the asteroid belt full of flying rocks! Ahead, not far away, were more than ten rebel-warrior ships of the 19A1 Fleet, hell-bent on biting the enemy ship!

Thus far, the three-sided combat situation had intertwined, forming a circular battle zone composed of five levels.

At the battle zone’s center was the combat group led by Hanfrey’s flagship [Feiyu] Aircraft Carrier. Surrounding it, occupying the first layer, were Bandit Fighters conducting the siege.

The second layer consisted of the Feiyu Fleet fighters desperately maneuvering around the asteroids to defend.

The third layer was originally encircled by the Binart Fleet but now audaciously turned back to attack, composed of the remaining dozen warships from the 19A1 Fleet and the recently broken-through First Fighter Cluster.

The fourth layer comprised the Feiling Fleet fighters that had sliced through and were now engaged in a mêlée with the Feiyang Second Fighter Formation.

The fifth layer involved the Nineteen Group Fleet led by Douglas, along with the combat group consisting of the [Feiling] Aircraft Carrier, which was furiously closing in on Hanfrey’s flagship from the other side.

The entire combat zone was rapidly contracting around Hanfrey’s flagship. Everyone knew this was a rapidly changing battle. In just ten minutes, the scales of victory and defeat had already swung back and forth several times!

Time ticked by second by second. The arrival time of the fast-returning Feiyu Fleet Fighter Group to the central combat zone was now less than two minutes. Meanwhile, the Feiyang Fighter First Cluster had already bypassed the 19A1 Fleet, locking onto the tail end of the Feiyu Fleet formation stretching several tens of thousands of kilometers!
