Counterfeit Hero

The news of the Blue Stone Star being attacked by the Feiyang Republic Fleet quickly spread throughout the universe.

In this era of highly developed information, there’s no news that won’t be leaked. The civilian network spanning the entire universe has been developed to an outrageous extent after a thousand years of construction. The signal transmitters between interstellar jump points are not just one or two; such devices, which can be bought on any street, have been scattered by humans in every corner of each star system, making space travel possible.

In past military operations, to prevent civilian information systems from interfering and leaking military secrets, the usual methods have been isolating civilians from military areas or using electronic ships to block planetary communications. Destroying those signal transmitters or all internet-accessible tools and devices on a planet is practically an impossible task.

This time, the Feiyang Fleet’s attack on Blue Stone Star is evidently no secret.

With Douglas’s meticulous tactics, the raid he orchestrated was bound to be a devastating, unexpected strike. All of Jiepeng’s bases, military facilities, warships, and troops scattered across Blue Stone Star were within the strike range. He wouldn’t let this lightning raid turn into a protracted tug-of-war. Consequently, the civilians across Blue Stone Star had ample opportunity to witness the appearance of the Feiyang people.

The information first appeared on civilian networks, initially one or two articles, then the same news began flooding everywhere. Apart from shock, people were still shocked by the Feiyang Republic’s successful raid.

It was a lightning raid; the Feiyang people carried out each tactical operation with precision. When they appeared outside the Jiepeng Military Port, the Jiepeng people hadn’t even gotten dressed. The Jiepeng warships docked at major spaceports were immediately given extra attention. Energy cannons, space fish, missiles, and space fighters repeatedly traversing like an apocalypse painting.

Previously, predictions about the Southeast Star Domain war situation had already come true. The news of the Binart Empire Fleet appearing in the Central Leray Star Domain, combined with the news of the Feiyang Fleet’s raid on Blue Stone Star, forebodes a fierce collision between the two camps in the Southeast.

A parade of luxurious flying cars, surrounded by guard mecha, sped through the base gates. The convoy passed through bustling training grounds, turned past warehouses filled with military supplies, and raced directly into the airport along the wide base roads.

Amidst the saluting of airport soldiers, the convoy stopped on the number one helipad. As soon as it halted, rumbling sounds from the sky were heard, and amidst flying dust, a landing ship descended slowly, escorted by three land-based fighters.

Mikami Yuto stepped out of the flying car, a short, frail middle-aged man with sparse, yellowing hair, a pale face, wearing old-fashioned thick-rimmed glasses. Compared to the fierce soldiers and officers by his side, he looked more like a bookish nerd with developmental issues due to overthinking. However, you could tell from the expressions of the surrounding generals how much they revered this short Jiepeng first great general.

Mikami Yuto stood quietly at the exit of the curved barrier of the helipad, his demeanor calm as water. The maddening noise from the warship’s thrusters during landing seemed to have little effect on him; his hair ruffled by the airflow during the ship’s descent, he remained composed, as if standing in a flower-filled valley welcoming a gentle breeze.

As the warship landed, the airflow grew increasingly strong, soldiers directing the landing at the front of the helipad were buffeted about, while Mikami Yuto and his accompanying officers stood unmoving like petrified statues.

Deputy Spencer glanced at Mikami Yuto; in the early winter season, the biting cold wind made him want to fetch a coat for the not-so-healthy Mikami Yuto. But having been with Mikami Yuto for nearly ten years, he clearly understood whether at this moment Mikami Yuto needed clothing or detested interruptions.

The news of the Blue Stone Star Base being attacked had already reached the Western Alliance Southeastern United Army Command. Although it was long known that the Fei Alliance would make significant moves in the Southeast Star Domain, such a daring raid was unexpected by everyone, including Mikami Yuto, sparking his anger. The Southeast War Situation had always been under his control, with everyone believing it was.

But now, the sudden emergence of the Fei Alliance fleet made him understand that the Southeast Star Domain’s situation was far more complicated than imagined.

What further frustrated Mikami Yuto was the timing—the issue arose precisely when two Elephant-level fleets of the Binart Empire reached their focus on the Southeast Star Domain, yet the Fei Alliance clearly acted quicker.

Sobel and Hastings simultaneously chose to escalate the Southeast Battle Zone confrontation. From a broader strategic perspective, this didn’t escape Mikami Yuto’s eyes. He had repeatedly warned all participating units of the Southeast Allied Army during military meetings about possible Fei Alliance actions in the Southeast Star Domain. Yet no one expected it to be the newly acquired Blue Stone Star by Jiepeng that had problems.

For Mikami Yuto, this was undoubtedly a great humiliation. And what terrified the officers with some military strategic foresight in the Southeast Allied Army, including him, was—they fundamentally didn’t understand when Hastings had ambushed this fleet!
