Counterfeit Hero

”Yes!” Bernadotte lit a cigarette, letting the blue smoke linger in front of him: ”The success of the surprise attack on the Longbow Star System is the most exhilarating news recently. However, the news of the Binart Empire Fleet’s subsequent attack on the Longbow Star System is the most worrying news lately.”

Looking at the eager research in the photograph, Marach suddenly felt a pang of heartache.

The relatives of those 19th Group Fleet soldiers are in the crowd, right?! The whole universe is waiting.

Waiting for the outcome,

Waiting for the casualty list,

Waiting for the dust to settle.

”Port 1200 degrees.”

”Understood, port 1200 degrees.”

”Speed Level 4.”

”Emergency evasive action, full engine power!”

”Boom!”

The battleship shook violently, with alarms blaring incessantly.

Hoffman, the ship captain of the Feiyang 19th Group Fleet 19A1 Fleet’s Oscar battleship, gripped the command seat’s armrest tightly. Beside him, a few sweaty staff officers were knocked over but still bustling about. In the control room, the Feiyang soldiers who had just climbed up from the ground rushed back to their posts, the stream of orders over the communication channels uninterrupted from start to finish.

Hoffman turned his head and ordered loudly to the chief officer beside him: ”Have the Damage Control Team immediately assess the damage situation.”

The chief officer staggered toward the central control console below the command platform. His command computer was also malfunctioning, requiring him to personally gather the damage data.

”Starboard 900 degrees, follow the main formation!” Hoffman ignored the chief officer stumbling on the stairs and quickly commanded the main helmsman. The veins bulged on his dark face, his blue eyes bloodshot.

”Understood!”

As the control stick in the main helmsman’s hand shifted, the massive battleship swung its bow to the right under the cover of friendly ships. After several course adjustments and accelerations, it finally rejoined the left wing of the Battleship Main Formation.

”Main cannon charged!” A sergeant at the control console reported loudly.

”Target locked!” Hoffman fiercely stared at a Binart Cruiser on the screen of the targeting system that was turning to fire, and he swung his hand: ”Fire!”

The main cannon, charged for some time, erupted suddenly amidst the ship’s suspense and trembling. The dazzling white flash enveloped the battleship, then dimmed quickly, piercing through the void, diving into the left side of the Binart Cruiser.

A perfect attack!

The energy bullet fired from the 2800mm caliber main cannon was absolutely unstoppable by the fragile armor of a cruiser whose energy shield had already turned red. The white meteor effortlessly penetrated the hull, and the violent self-detonation erupted two seconds later from dozens of portholes and breaches on the ship’s left side, tearing the ship apart. In the night sky, it was as if a firework blossomed, with the ship’s own air aiding in scattering countless pieces into the surrounding.

”Hurrah!” In the control room, the Feiyang soldiers applauded each other.

The battleship was quickly turning.

When the command computer returned to normal, and the Mermaid battleship wrapped the damaged Oscar into the main formation from outside the port windows, Hoffman finally sighed with relief with the damage report in his hand.

The report that the chief officer brought back showed that the damage to the battleship was not severe, with no irreparable damage to critical components, and the energy shield, despite undergoing two attacks, still retained seventy percent of its strength and was steadily recovering. This was nothing short of a miracle. Hoffman believed that Lady Luck had not forsaken him, and at least, the Oscar could withstand this fourth phase of combat.

Looking out of the windows, the entire universe seemed to be ablaze. Flash after flash pierced through the portholes, illuminating the ship’s interior brightly, the distant nebulae and stars, along with this Unicorn-class Battleship, completely submerged in this multicolored radiance.

Behind and in front lay massive battleships. These ships traveled through the energy cannons, the glow of their energy shields blue or red, shimmering in the night sky. The blinding white flash of the main cannon eruptions from the bows was striking and breathtaking. Space fighters, like bats, flitted up and down in the night sky, with missiles, electronic bombs, and defensive turret energy cannons crisscrossing the air, occasionally hitting a fighter jet, turning it into a comet trailing off into the depths of space. Occasionally, a warship would be shattered in a violent explosion, scattering countless debris fragments and bodies.

”Captain, the flagship sent an order for a circular defensive formation, to retreat into the nebula, and execute the fifth phase battle plan.” The panting chief officer had just sat down at the console then sprang up, reporting loudly.

”Execute!” Hoffman waved his hand tiredly.

This battle has raged on for a full forty-five hours.

In this narrow passage, neither side had much room for maneuver. Whether for profit, for hatred, or for honor, the Binart people were the enemies the Feiyang people cared about the most. Therefore, the battle entered a fever pitch from the very beginning.

To break through the fourth phase, the Binart Empire Fleet was forced to pay a 3-to-1 loss ratio. Under Hanfrey’s command, the Feiling Fleet even used their carriers as cover to ward off the ambush from the Feiyang sub-fleet hidden in the nebula, allowing the main force to break through at full speed.

Nearly a hundred Binart Empire warships were left behind at the most congested part of the passage. However, as the follow-up Binart fleet poured into the passage like locusts, gradually pressing forward, the Feiyang Fleet had no choice but to retreat.
