Counterfeit Hero

The startled Hanfrey Fleet, drenched in cold sweat, began to retract.

The battleships protecting the aircraft carrier turned horizontally and quickly interspersed between the space fighter clusters and the carrier. The carrier, under the cover of the protective warships, retreated into the fleet. Countless decoy missiles were scattered from the escort ships. The collective defense net of the aircraft carrier fleet began to take shape.

Binart still has a chance, and so does Feiyang.

Although all the Feiyang soldiers sighed when the bandit army fighter missiles finally only shattered the enemy carrier, in fact, everything that happened was enough to make them ecstatic.

Know that just now, they could only watch helplessly as their rearguard comrades were surrounded by the enemy. But now, they had the opportunity to rescue their comrades and potentially win this battle!

Hanfrey’s flagship will be unprotected by an energy shield for an entire hour. Three hundred ghost-like bandit army fighters were just five hundred kilometers away. Even with a guard fleet composed of six destroyers, six cruisers, four battleships, and a dozen high-speed escort ships around it, they could not prevent the infiltration attacks of the 300 fighters.

In the case where the fighters were within 500 kilometers, Hanfrey absolutely had no chance to switch flagships via bunker or escape pod. Before his other warships and fighters could come to aid, there was at least five minutes for the bandit army fighters to do as they pleased.

Enough, more than enough!

Binart’s formation was already in disarray. The main fleet of Feiyang had also completed their turn earlier than the bewildered Hanfrey Fleet and was now accelerating, steadily behind the leading fighter group. At the edge of the asteroid belt, the besieged ten-plus Feiyang battleships finally got a breather.

Compared to before, this was the difference between heaven and hell.

Thanks to the bandit army, the Nineteen Group Fleet finally got a chance to tip the scales of victory!

God bless the bandit army, God bless Feiyang!

********************************************************************************

The bandit army fighter group engaged the escort fleet!

Like a handful of sand thrown hard against the oncoming wind. After destroying two enemy cruisers with a round of energy cannon fire, the Triangle Attack Formation fighter group suddenly scattered.

They soared up, spiraled down, shot straight in, or rolled in arcs... Three hundred fighters, each taking a different trajectory, killing towards the carrier within the escort fleet.

”In the name of God!”

A bandit army pilot shouted loudly, pulling the control stick. The fighter, like a Hawks flipping into the sky, did several rolls in quick succession to narrowly avoid an intercept missile and two energy light bands, then looped back, diving headlong into gaps of the escort fleet’s dense firepower net.

The gun turrets on the Binart Battleship rotated rapidly, with the rushed shots of energy bullets continuously aiming to bite into the not-so-advanced Saleria fighter.

However, the dozens of rotating turret gunners were disappointed. They were horrified to find that none of them could harm this fighter. In the face of their fierce firepower, this fighter could always evade with a variety of incredible maneuvers. Its performance even appeared more advanced than their Thunderbolt space fighters.

”This is not a Gladiator!” The bandit army pilot smirked, his eyes glowing. Under his control, the fighter skimmed past the enemy ship like a swift horse, weaving through the energy cannon fire.

”This is the bandit army’s Dragon Warrior!”

The pilot shouted, fiercely pulling the trigger on the control stick.

The power of the modified four-circuit engine suddenly surged, and the two high-speed energy cannons upgraded with a new fire control system sparkled like chains of fire, creating a string of raindrop-like ripples on the enemy ship’s energy shield.

The energy shield of the battleship had already turned red from the saturation attack by numerous fighters, and when the bridge area was concentratedly hit, it couldn’t convert in time. Before the energy shield collapsed, the armored hull was already wrecked by the energy cannon fire.

Using fierce firepower, one layer of the bridge, including the radar, was directly turned into a sieve full of holes. The fighter, crazily crisscrossing amidst the firepower net, executed several erratic maneuvers, rolling past the stern of the battleship, shedding off the chasing firepower as it charged towards the aircraft carrier.

As this fighter broke through the escort fleet’s defense net, several other bandit army fighters also crossed into the escort fleet, gracefully appearing beside the carrier. The main cannon, long ready, erupted in a blinding flash amidst rapid rotation. The flash struck directly against the armor of the carrier. Flames erupted, and fragments flew everywhere!

The Feiyu Aircraft Carrier trembled amidst intense cannon fire.

”Trying to decapitate!” Hanfrey stood on the shaking command platform, his face indifferent: ”Dream on!”

Outside the window, a fighter jet zipped by like lightning. Behind it, six or seven energy cannon light chains streaked across the night sky.

”Boom!”

A red fireball rose from the emergency landing pad in front of the mothership’s bridge. It soon dissipated in the oxygen-less vacuum. Only the cracks in the armor still revealed a trace of fiery red like flowing magma.

”Has the Feiyang Fleet completed its turn?!”

”They have completed it and are rapidly approaching my fleet. Estimated combat contact in ten minutes,” the on-duty intelligence officer loudly replied.

”Excellent!” Hanfrey took off his coat, sat down, crossed his legs on the command platform, and coldly watched the fighters dancing beyond the window, muttering to himself: ”No matter who you are, I must thank you for giving me a chance to annihilate the Douglas Fleet completely!”

Listening to Hanfrey’s icy voice, several aides nearby exchanged glances and wiped the cold sweat from their foreheads in unison.

They all knew that their Duke, in the face of danger, became all the more high-spirited.

This time, it might be the most dangerous battle Hanfrey has ever faced.

Likewise, this time, it will also be his toughest battle!
