Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 997: Chapter 995: The Boundary Between Life and Death

After several attempts, Gu Xi roughly understood the situation of the Death Incarnation assimilation.

Sixty is not the limit of Death Incarnation’s assimilation, but the limit of the equipment, the Hand of Death.

The Hand of Death can simultaneously assimilate sixty Death Incarnations.

These sixty Death Incarnations are almost indistinguishable from the real Death Incarnation, all capable of loading the various effects of the Bone Dragon, and their levels can be upgraded to the Level of the Death Incarnation.

Once killed, the assimilated bodies will appear at the rear of the battlefield, and as long as Gu Xi re-summons the Death Incarnation, assimilation can occur again.

This realization brought Gu Xi some regret.

How did he not know about this?

If he had known, he certainly would have used it more, even prioritizing the enhancement of the Hand of Death when he first had the materials for strengthening Blue Armor.

In fact, Gu Xi hadn’t even considered it.

When he obtained the Hand of Death, how many Bone Dragons did he have in his possession?

Moreover, upon obtaining the Hand of Death, he immediately had two Death Incarnations available for use.

The Death Incarnation - Death God did not have a similar troop type for assimilation.

As time passed, Gu Xi naturally didn’t think about it.

Eventually, he forgot about this matter.

If he hadn’t jumped down from the passage and had to release the Bone Dragon, Gu Xi might not have activated this effect.

But even starting now is not too late.

After manipulating sixty Death Incarnation - Bone Dragons to circle the sky, Gu Xi felt much more confident. He planned to properly upgrade the Hand of Death when he returned, at least enhancing its quality.

If possible, upgrading it to Purple Quality might transform all the Level 8 Bone Dragons in his Bone Dragon Corps into High Tier Death Incarnations.

That his combat power would be much stronger.

Even if he encountered a situation like the Fusion Association’s Third Elder again, his Bone Dragon Corps would not be instantly defeated.

Thinking about this, Gu Xi jumped onto the Holy Silver Evil Coffin and headed in the direction the Undead had previously advanced.

The Holy Silver Evil Coffin ran across the ground, while all the Bone Dragons and Ghost Dragons flew in the sky.

It took only about ten minutes to travel over dozens of miles.

After rushing out nearly sixty miles, Gu Xi suddenly halted in his advance.

At this moment, he found the road ended before him, and beyond was a wall of fog, seemingly blocking his path.

”Death?”

Looking at the mist, Gu Xi instead smiled.

He didn’t expect to encounter the boundary between life and death here.

This mist-like boundary between life and death was rare even for an Undead Mage, most had only heard of it.

A legend exists among the community of Undead Mages.

Those who emerge from the boundary between life and death can comprehend the essence of life and death.

Even if they die in the game, they can return from the Netherworld through their power.

This matter, Gu Xi couldn’t be sure of its authenticity.

But the fog representing the boundary between life and death before him was undoubtedly real.

Gu Xi suddenly had a thought. Could this be the key after promoting to Level 10 as an Undead Mage?

It’s known that most Undead Mages advance to Lich at Level 10.

A Lich is characterized by being an Undead who emerges from death.

In other words, the path of the Lich involves not only creating a Life Box but also emerging from death.

Yet, he unexpectedly encountered this situation here.

Emerge from death?

Gu Xi smiled; he didn’t need to consider it much.

As Gu Xi smiled, the Netherworld Dragon Robe Carrier appeared before him.

”Netherworld Decree!”

The Netherworld Dragon Robe Carrier gently moved, and the mist before him parted considerably.

Seizing this opportunity, Gu Xi extended his hand and pointed forward.

Gate of the Underworld!

The gigantic city gate slowly opened under Gu Xi’s command.

At this time, Gu Xi was opening the gate leading to the Netherworld.

However, the gate was reversed; where they stood was considered inside the gate. Exiting through this gate would mean returning to the human world.

For other Undead Mages, this might be the most crucial step, but Gu Xi had already resolved it.

As the gate of the Netherworld slowly opened, Gu Xi saw a vast lake appearing beyond the gate. The lake’s surface shimmered under the sunlight, and every now and then, large fish would leap from the water.

When opening the Gate of the Underworld, Gu Xi wondered what environment lay beyond.

But he never expected a vibrant lake.

Fortunately, Gu Xi’s Holy Silver Evil Coffin could move over the water, and the Bone Dragons could fly through the sky.

Whether the battlefield was over water or land didn’t make much difference to Gu Xi.

Curious about the battlefield’s choice, he led the Bone Dragons out of the Gate of the Underworld.

Unbeknownst to Gu Xi, as the Gate of the Underworld appeared over the lake, many had already taken notice.

On a small island covered in reeds in the lake, a Death Knight on a silver warhorse stood before three men dressed as Daoists.

These three Daoists carried longswords on their backs and held various equipment in hand.

One wielded a black crystalline gourd, another a person-height white Soul-Calling Banner, and the last held the most bizarre item: a vine entwined with numerous flowers and plants, bearing ginseng, Ganoderma, and similar herbs.

Despite their immortal-like appearances, the sinister aura of their weapons and equipment was unmistakable.

Even their features had become slightly distorted due to the items they held.

Before them was a Water Mirror, reflecting the image of the recently appeared Gate of the Underworld over the lake.

Though the Gate of the Underworld had only just begun to open, the overwhelming Yin Qi emanating from within had already shocked them all.

After glancing back at the fully armored Death Knight in silver, the Daoist with the gourd spoke seriously.

”Guo Yuanxin, did you leave something out? What’s with such a large Gate of the Underworld?”

Death Knight Guo Yuanxin was at a loss, ”No, it’s not a Gate of the Underworld. As I mentioned, based on our information, the one coming over has a Death City, and this is the gate to that Death City.

That’s why I invited the family’s Divine Artifact to close the deployable gate.

But when the time comes, I have to control the Divine Artifact, so I won’t be able to fight. At that time, the battle here will depend on you.”
