Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 996: Chapter 994: Promotion Quest

”You can come with us; it’s safe once we leave here.”

Although the Elder of the Undead kept looking at the Death Incarnation - Bone Dragon behind Gu Xi, with some hesitation on his face, he finally said this.

This was considered the final goodwill from the Elder of the Undead.

Gu Xi understood that these people were just refugees. They approached only because they saw the Death Incarnation - Bone Dragon hovering above Gu Xi’s head and wanted to take a look.

After looking, they still needed to hurry on their way.

As for bringing Gu Xi along.

This was actually against their intentions.

However, since Gu Xi possessed the abilities of a Death Lord and had a good relationship with the Undead—who were half-forced out—they were considered half comrades-in-arms with Gu Xi. That’s why the Elder of the Undead said it.

Otherwise, why should the Elder of the Undead care about you? You’re not one of my descendants.

Just as Gu Xi smiled and was about to say something, a ding sounded in his ear.

[You have made contact with the refugees from Longhu Horn, learning about the matters there. You feel a sense of reflection for the displaced Undead, and decide to do something for them.]

[Promotion Quest: Longhu Horn]

[Quest Prerequisite: Undead Mage transitioning (completed), Level 9 (completed), full Experience (completed), possess one or more Bone Dragons (completed)]

[Quest Description: In the eyes of those mindless demon-slaying Immortals, what they do is justice, but who will understand that some Demons are not Demons, and some justice is not justice!]

[Quest Requirement: Kill three Immortals (0/3) or protect the Demon Dragon of Longhu Horn from dying (0/1)]

[Quest Reward: Promote Death Witch Lord to Lord of the Underworld.]

[Description 1: In terms of Death, there is no distinction between justice and evil; those who evade Death are the most evil beings.]

[Description 2: Lord of the Underworld and Lord of the Netherworld are of the same level, just different directions.]

Under this quest description, there is information on the Lord of the Underworld, who at Level 15 can be promoted to Lord of the Underworld, at Level 20 upgrades to King of the Underworld... at Level 45, can be upgraded to the Lord of the Mansion.

Seeing this, Gu Xi understood how his promotion path could change.

It turns out to be influenced by the ”Taishan Prefect’s Secret Record.”

Simultaneously, Gu Xi also knew that he could switch to the Lord of the Netherworld route anytime in the future.

It’s just that the potential of the Lord of the Netherworld seems to be insufficient, reaching the top at Level 35 and becoming the Nether Emperor.

Afterward, there’s no other change, just some increase in combat power with the level upgrade.

In contrast, the route of the Lord of Mount Tai is more inclusive; Gu Xi can choose to switch to the Lord of Mount Tai route anytime, or opt out and find a better route if he doesn’t want to follow it anymore.

With this comparison, Gu Xi naturally knew what to choose.

”Fighting mindless Immortals? Anyone who can be called an Immortal must be above Level 30.”

This was Gu Xi’s main concern with the quest.

Anyone who could be called an Immortal was not an easy role.

The last time Gu Xi encountered Immortals was with Li Yufang and her group.

The weakest of the Ghost Immortals were at least above Level 25 in strength; these Immortals in front are probably not Ghost Immortals. If calculated as Human Immortals, whether Level 30 would suffice is still questionable.

A series of thoughts flashed through his mind, but Gu Xi did not give up because of this.

Since he had come here, he naturally wanted to complete this quest.

However, Gu Xi did not intend to go just like that.

Weren’t those Immortals saying that the Dragons of Longhu Horn were Demon Dragons?

Then he would go as a member of the Dragon Race to provide support.

”Thank you, elder, I won’t go with you. I happen to need to visit Longhu Horn. If I hadn’t met you, I’m afraid I might have just run into those Immortals when I went over.

If I’m not prepared and go directly, that would be a big loss.”

Gu Xi thanked the elder and hid his refusal within his words.

After hearing Gu Xi’s words, the Elder of the Undead did not say much more, just nodded at Gu Xi and headed off in a different direction.

Gu Xi did not stop them, understanding that these people just came to deliver a quest.

Their identity was not even as good as game characters; after their appearance this time, they possibly wouldn’t appear again.

If it were before, Gu Xi might have used the abilities of a Death Lord to lead them to Yalidu City to serve as part of the population.

But this time, Gu Xi had no such thoughts.

In Gu Xi’s eyes, the way these Undead behaved at this moment already lived up to their years of silence.

After watching the Undead leave, Gu Xi immediately released the Garrison Gate.

Since the transfer of the Magic Plant District, the area behind the Garrison Gate had truly become a large Barracks.

The troops under Gu Xi’s command would usually be stationed in this area, where they conducted swaps, training, and waited.

Even if it couldn’t accommodate all of Gu Xi’s troops, the main ones would still have a spot here, at least keeping a contact point.

Once the Garrison Gate was released, Gu Xi’s Bone Dragon Corps flew out from within.

The recently resurrected Double-headed Bone Dragon did not fly at the front this time.

Leading was the Level 26 Ghost Dragon that Gu Xi just acquired.

In the Dragon Type, might makes right; strength pays off.

Previously, the Double-headed Bone Dragon was the strongest among Bone Dragons, making Gu Xi’s favorite Ghost Dragon fall behind.

Now, with the emergence of a new strong Ghost Dragon, the Double-headed Bone Dragon ranked second.

The Double-headed Bone Dragon had no dissatisfaction with this, instead, following the Ghost Dragon obediently, without any of the desperate aura it had when it first encountered the Third Elder of the Fusion Association who killed it.

Once all the Bone Dragons flew out, Gu Xi gestured toward the Death Incarnation - Bone Dragon grounded on the outside.

”Strengthen around Level 8.”

The Death Incarnation - Bone Dragon soared, flying into the group of Bone Dragons and Ghost Dragons.

Borrowing the assimilative power of the Hand of Death, the Death Incarnation - Bone Dragon temporarily assimilated similar creatures into the Death Incarnation, borrowing some of the Death Incarnation’s effects.

Previously, Gu Xi hadn’t noticed this and thus hadn’t utilized it.

Now that he discovered this, Gu Xi intended to make good use of it.

If he could elevate the levels of all the Bone Dragons, even the few Black Dragons under his command could be slain and transformed into Bone Dragons.

As the Death Incarnation - Bone Dragon flew among the Bone Dragon group,

Gu Xi realized that the assimilation effect of the Hand of Death had a limit too.

This time, the Hand of Death assimilated sixty Bone Dragons before it could assimilate no more.

Wanting to assimilate other Bone Dragons would mean a previously assimilated Bone Dragon would need to exit the assimilation.
