His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 2296: Chapter 663: One Year Later (40) Mu Family Dinner_4

Qin Mu...

She felt that Mu Yichen was acting strange today. First, he hurried out for exercise, and now he was lukewarm, no, he was actually cold towards her. She had only been gone for a few days; what had happened?

Mu Yichen no longer looked at her, sitting beside her and drinking water slowly.

Qin Mu couldn’t resist observing him, and she couldn’t hold back from asking him, ”Did something happen? When I was away these few days?”

Mu Yichen’s gaze flickered slightly, ”No, nothing happened!”

This afternoon while playing basketball, Qiao Yi and Jing Feng made a bet on whether Qin Mu would bring up divorce today. Actually, he hadn’t intended to come back this afternoon, but she had just returned, and his cold body naturally wanted to find her.

He didn’t want to resist his body, or his heart. He was always like this; whenever his heart told him to seek her out, he would seek her out.

”If nothing happened, why are you acting so twitchy?”

Qin Mu’s keen eyes were constantly observing him. Finally, she couldn’t help but look directly at him, and because of his dishonesty, her brows furrowed slightly.

Mu Yichen chuckled, ”Where are the kids?”

Qin Mu didn’t reply, knowing he was deliberately changing the subject.

Qin Mu then got up and walked over to the single sofa beside him, and watched him for a while longer. The more she looked, the more she found him peculiar.

The two little ones, knowing he was back, eagerly ran upstairs to find their coats, wanting to head to the Mu Family early to play with Zifeng. So, Qin Mu didn’t concern herself with whatever was happening with Mu Yichen, because soon they were dragged out the door by the children.

They arrived at the Mu Family before dark. As soon as Chengcheng and Huanhuan got out of the car, they ran inside. Qin Mu got out and watched the two figures already inside, and couldn’t help but sigh, suddenly remembering the saying: Children grow up and don’t listen to their mothers.

Mu Yichen walked in with his head down, not calling her, and as Qin Mu came to her senses, she saw he had already walked far ahead, so she hurried to catch up.

Feng Fanghua was standing in the living room, originally thinking the two little ones were rushing to find her. Instead, they ran straight to Zifeng, calling for their grandparents, while Mu Qingxin sitting beside Jiang Yan couldn’t help but laugh quietly—it was hard to openly laugh.

Qin Mu followed closely behind Mu Yichen inside, her entire being somewhat tense. Upon seeing Feng Fanghua, she instinctively felt on guard.

Feng Fanghua glanced at Mu Yichen and Qin Mu as they returned, not saying anything, letting the three little ones run away, and sat on the sofa with the demeanor of a matron.

Mu Zihao and the old master were out and hadn’t returned yet, so the house felt like it was missing quite a few people.

Mu Qingxin turned to look at Qin Mu coming to the house, excitedly making room for her, ”Sister-in-law, sit here with me.”

Qin Mu glanced at her, thinking to herself how naturally she had been calling her sister-in-law lately. Without saying anything, she lowered her eyes to walk over, but Mu Yichen extended his hand first, grasping her wrist.

Qin Mu looked at him in surprise, and Mu Yichen pulled her to sit on another side.

”Oh, brother, not seeing her for a day feels like three years apart! Still scared that my beautiful sister-in-law will be chased by someone else?”

Mu Qingxin purposely gave him a disdainful look but didn’t forget to tease.

Mu Yichen chuckled lightly, as if he didn’t care about her words at all.

Mu Qingxin felt bored, stuck out her tongue, and then contentedly sat beside Jiang Yan.

Feng Fanghua acted as if nothing was amiss, sipping her tea without even glancing directly at Qin Mu.

Mu Yichen asked, ”What made you decide to invite us home for dinner today?”

Feng Fanghua finally raised her eyes slightly, ”I didn’t really plan on inviting you over; it’s just that Zifeng wanted to play with Cheng Huan and Cheng Yang!”

For the first time, Feng Fanghua referred to her grandson and granddaughter by name so formally.

Qin Mu didn’t really lift her eyes, but she clearly understood Feng Fanghua’s implication: she was only welcomed because of her son and daughter.

”Madam, Miss Chen has arrived!”

Soon, the living room quieted down due to the announcement from the maid. Mu Qingxin instinctively glanced at Feng Fanghua, then turned to look at this Miss Chen, who was carrying gifts and accompanied by a beautiful young lady. The two appeared about the same age, both quite attractive. Mu Qingxin frowned slightly, then after sitting down again, looked curiously at her mother.

Yet, Ms. Feng sat there particularly calm and composed, as if everything was under her control.

Qin Mu couldn’t help but chuckle lightly, finally understanding that the reason she could come here wasn’t because of her son and daughter, but because of this Miss Chen.

Feng Fanghua was adept at using these little schemes, and Qin Mu thought that tonight would have some drama.

Mu Yichen’s brow had already furrowed deeply, his once serene expression now tense, his dark phoenix eyes staring directly at his mother.
