His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 2256: Chapter 655: One Year Later (32)_4

For a moment, the sofa was left with only two people again.

Qin Mu glanced at Mu Yichen: ”Why did you deliberately let me win?”

”Didn’t you notice?”

Mu Yichen asked her softly.

”What?”

Qin Mu was stunned, not understanding the cryptic remark.

”If you lose, your position in this family will be in danger!”

Mu Yichen chuckled, looking at Qin Mu with warm-colored eyes.

Qin Mu immediately looked away, cleared her throat lightly, and put away the chess: ”Where am I sleeping tonight?”

”Wherever you slept last night, you should sleep tonight!”

”I slept in a hotel last night!”

”Do I need to spell it out?”

Mu Yichen, with patience, articulated his words seriously to Qin Mu, who immediately resisted: ”I refuse!”

Even though it wouldn’t matter if they slept together for a few more days, continuing like this, they might never split up.

Mu Yichen listened to her persistent refusal and frowned: ”Then where do you want to sleep? The sofa?”

”Why don’t you sleep on the sofa?”

Qin Mu’s eyes twinkled mischievously, suddenly suggesting as she looked at him.

Mu Yichen smiled: ”If you want to sleep, you sleep. I’m sleeping in the bed!”

He’s truly not a bit cute.

Qin Mu got up, hands on her hips, sighed, and then said to him: ”I’ll sleep with Huanhuan!”

Before Mu Yichen could stop her, she had elegantly turned around and left.

Ten minutes later, Qin Mu came out of Huanhuan’s room feeling defeated and immediately saw Mu Yichen standing by, smiling as he looked at her.

”What’s wrong? Did you get kicked out?”

Mu Yichen asked her.

Qin Mu helplessly sighed: ”More or less!”

”And now?”

Mu Yichen’s deep eyes looked at her tenderly.

”I’m sure your son wouldn’t let me sleep in his room either, so I’ll sleep on the sofa, considering New Year’s is nearing!”

Only then did Mu Yichen’s expression turn a bit cold, she was eagerly anticipating New Year, likely because she was looking forward to going through procedures with him to go back to Paris to see that useless assistant of hers.

”Suit yourself!”

Mu Yichen nodded, then turned and walked away.

Qin Mu wasn’t sure if it was her imagination, but she felt like she saw genuine anger in his eyes.

But whether he was angry or not, they couldn’t continue like this every day; it was truly inappropriate.

”May I go find a blanket?”

Qin Mu caught up at his door and asked his opinion.

”If I say no, you’ll catch a cold tomorrow, and wouldn’t I have to take care of you?”

Mu Yichen continued walking inside without turning back, leaving these words behind.

Qin Mu suddenly laughed, thinking it was best he understood, and went to find a blanket.

Mu Yichen leaned against the wall, watching her take a blanket from the cupboard.

Qin Mu left, and he followed to shut the door.

Qin Mu’s phone rang in her pants pocket, and she held the blanket in one hand, picked up the phone with the other, and instinctively looked at the room door after seeing the number.

Unexpectedly, Mu Yichen was standing there, scaring her so much that she almost dropped the phone. Quickly, she clutched the blanket and phone and headed downstairs.

Meanwhile, Mu Yichen’s brows furrowed tightly.

”Hello? What’s up so late?”

Qin Mu only answered the phone after going downstairs, placing the blanket on the sofa, and then looking upstairs.

”Hmm! It’s already late here, hmm!”

Qin Mu’s voice lowered subconsciously, not knowing why she didn’t want Mu Yichen to hear her assistant’s call.

”Hmm! If the matter is difficult to handle, just delay it first. I’ll deal with it when I return after New Year!”

Qin Mu spoke softly, slowly walking up to the window ahead, gazing at the gloomy night sky outside.

”Hmm, that’s it for now, bye!”

Qin Mu quickly hung up, then again looked up at the upstairs.

Sure enough, Mu Yichen was standing there, but his dark face was scary to look at.

”It’s business!”

It was reflexive, unintentional—an explanation!

Mu Yichen didn’t ask her anything, and after hearing her say that, he turned his head back to the room.

Only then did Qin Mu’s heart relax, but she still felt uneasy.

Actually, she didn’t really care about what her assistant did, but she genuinely cared about what Mu Yichen thought.

Clearly, they had reached the point of divorce, so why still care about him?

Perhaps no matter how many years passed, she would still care if he wasn’t doing well!

After all, just as Chen Xiaoyi had said, they’ve known each other for so many years. Tell me, who else could deserve nearly thirty years of dedication?

The living room lights were turned off, she lay down on the sofa, and then lightly pulled the blanket up to cover herself, her eyes staring at the ceiling light, unable to close her eyes for a long time.

In quiet moments, she couldn’t help but think of their divorce. She wanted to call Tan Yiwen yesterday, but Tan Yiwen should also be back home for the New Year now, so she didn’t call, thinking she’d wait until after New Year, or wait for Mu Yichen to find a lawyer to talk to her, then decide whether to get a lawyer to help her.

In reality, there might not be a need?

In terms of assets, almost everything she owned in Rongcheng was given by him.

Qin Mu thought about her own little money, which Mu Yichen would never care about, and she had told him she wanted nothing, but he was so determined.

In the deep dark night, a sigh echoed through the living room.

——

The next morning, the siblings were the first to get up. One went into Mu Yichen’s bedroom and shouted: ”Dad, get up!”

The other ran downstairs and shouted: ”Mom, get up!”

Chengcheng stood at Mu Yichen’s bedroom door, seeing the bed neat and tidy with no one there. He instinctively ran to the bathroom, still no one, his big eyes couldn’t help but move, then he turned and ran outside.

Huanhuan sat on the sofa holding a pillow, watching her mom rub her eyes awake, oh, it was awaken from the sofa.

”Mom! You’re in trouble!”

Huanhuan hugged the pillow, looking at Qin Mu with very worried eyes.

Qin Mu was still groggy, feeling unwell and hearing the words ’in trouble’, she turned to look at her daughter: ”How am I in trouble?”

”You actually slept on the sofa all night, and Dad didn’t come looking for you. Don’t you think you’re in trouble?”

Huanhuan explained to her, those clear eyes staring straight at Qin Mu.

Qin Mu thought for a moment, then chuckled: ”Why does he have to come find me?”

Qin Mu spoke while getting up, then turned back to stack the blanket and put it aside.

”If it were usual, Dad would definitely come look for you. If he didn’t join you to sleep on the sofa, he’d carry you to the room to sleep. But this time he didn’t, you better be careful or Dad might really not want you anymore! My brother and I can’t help you!”

Huanhuan mumbled at her side, never letting her have a moment of peace.

”I don’t need your help, if he doesn’t want me, I’d thank him!”

”If you didn’t love Dad, you wouldn’t have come back! Mom, perhaps you don’t even realize it yourself, but you really can’t do without Dad, after all, our dad is so handsome, so wealthy, and loves you so much.”

Qin Mu...

”Mom, you better apologize to Dad and make up with him. It’s so cold in winter, sleeping on the sofa is chilly.”

Huanhuan saw Qin Mu was unhappy but felt as a daughter, she had a responsibility towards her parents.

Qin Mu got angry, took a deep breath, then said to Huanhuan: ”Mu Chenghuan, what’s wrong with you? Always not knowing how to study well, yet talking about all these nonsensical things. I haven’t asked you what rank you got in the year-end exams?”

”First place!”

Huanhuan was very confident.

Qin Mu...
