His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 2267: Chapter 658: One Year Later (35) Attacked?

Mu Yichen helped Qin Mu take off her coat, and then handed it to Mu Qingxin: ”Take it out and hang it up!”

Mu Qingxin hummed unhappily, then turned around to leave, saying as she walked: ”I’m leaving and not coming back, you three can get busy!”

Mu Qingxin was unwilling to work, so in the end it was Feng Fanghua and Qin Mu making dumplings, while Mu Yichen and Jiang Yan each stir-fried two dishes.

By not even nine o’clock, a table full of delicious food was already set up.

The three little ones looked at the delicious dishes on the table, then at the people sitting around, all unable to hold back their smiles. Of course, as soon as the old man announced to start, and just picked up his wine glass, the three little ones excitedly grabbed their chopsticks to eat the food they loved.

”Take it slow, no one’s going to snatch it from you!”

Feng Fanghua watched their three treasures so happy, feeling excited inside too. It had indeed been a long time since the home had been this lively, plus it had been a long time since there had been so many people. Nonetheless, she hoped the children wouldn’t eat too quickly to avoid choking.

”Oh, Mom, just let them be. Let’s toast together first! Wishing grandpa, dad, and mom, good health and all the best in the new year!”

Everyone’s glass was filled with wine, Mu Qingxin happily made the first toast. Of course, in this family now, she was the only adult seemingly not feeling awkward, she was perfectly suitable to start off.

”Alright, alright! Today, you little ones must toast me a few more times; after all, I rarely get the chance to clink glasses!”

The old man immediately picked up his wine glass and happily spoke to them.

”This one glass will be enough! Here, I toast to you as well!”

Mu Yichen held his wine glass and chuckled as he talked to the old man.

The old man’s face suddenly dropped, yet together with Mu Zihao and Feng Fanghua, they raised their glasses towards him. Feng Fanghua, at first intending to oblige the old man to drink a few extra glasses this holiday, was reminded by the son’s words, that a joint toast from everyone would suffice.

Qin Mu followed: ”Grandpa! Wishing you joy and health!”

”We also wish great-grandpa good health and a joyful smile!”

The little ones, seeing the adults all toasting, quickly put down their chopsticks and raised their cups full of juice to join the toast.

The old man had been a bit saddened, but seeing the children so considerate, he felt happy again.

”Alright, alright! So today, for the sake of you three little ones, this old man will down this glass.”

After the old man finished speaking, he drank the wine in one gulp.

”Mumu, did you go to your parents’ grave to pay respects?”

After eating for a while, the old man asked Qin Mu.

”Yes! Went there this morning!”

Qin Mu responded softly, thinking about her parents came with many emotions, though all deeply buried within herself.

In the past, she could share her innermost thoughts with Mu Yichen. Now, it seems she has lost the ability to confide in him, and what’s kept inside is simply kept inside.

”Good that you went, you should move your career back here quickly, this is your home, understand?”

The old man nodded and said more, knowing Qin Mu always respected him, so he spoke a few more words.

”Yes!”

Qin Mu smiled and agreed, without saying much.

Mu Qingxin glanced at Qin Mu, seeing her so obedient, Mu Qingxin sighed, picked up a dumpling for herself, then said to the old man: ”Grandpa, you see how nicely Qin Mu promised, I bet she doesn’t take it to heart, she’s just appeasing you!”

Qin Mu felt a tremor inside, raised her eyes at Mu Qingxin, thinking why talk about this during the festive time?

Mu Qingxin raised her eyebrows at her, paying no mind to Qin Mu’s pleading look.

”Qin Mu wouldn’t possibly appease grandpa, it’s just that everything requires a good opportunity.”

Jiang Yan observed the meal had to continue, quickly chiming in.

Unexpectedly, Mu Yichen hadn’t said anything all along, only quietly helping Qin Mu with the dishes.

Feng Fanghua and Mu Zihao naturally noticed Mu Yichen’s obvious actions under their watchful eyes.

”Yichen has always had the tendency to help others with serving dishes, didn’t you also help Xiaoyi with the dishes last time?”

Feng Fanghua couldn’t hold back, suddenly raised her chin and asked her son across from her, with a hint of coldness in her voice.

”Are you sure you’re not seeing things?”

Mu Yichen raised his eyes a bit, understanding Feng Fanghua’s intention, yet he never served dishes to another woman.
