His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 2295: Chapter 663: One Year Later (40) Mu Family Dinner Gathering (Part 3)

Mu Qingxin looked at Feng Fanghua’s somewhat unpleasant expression and felt a bit nervous.

”Unhappy? My grandson and granddaughter have come back, why wouldn’t I be happy? By the way, where are my two dear grandchildren?”

Feng Fanghua’s eyes shifted slightly, and the next moment, she became sharp again.

”Qin Mu took them to the apartment. Now only your ’grandson’ is playing in the playroom. If you cherish him, cherish him first!”

Mu Qingxin noticed her mother was only concerned about her grandchildren and spoke with a hint of sourness.

The aunt who was just talking to Mu Qingxin quietly retreated upon seeing the mother-daughter verbal sparring. Once Mu Qingxin returned, the house instantly became livelier, relieving the household staff a bit.

”What are you saying? Even though Zifeng is a grandson, I treat him just like my own grandson. Did that woman just come back with you all?”

Feng Fanghua moved to sit on the couch, lifting her eyes to size up her daughter, and asked slyly.

”You seem to not really welcome her back, do you?”

Mu Qingxin slightly smiled and parried with Feng Fanghua in a playful manner. ℯ

”Hmph! Does it matter whether I welcome her or not? Who cares about me?”

Feng Fanghua felt unhappy upon hearing this, getting angry when thinking about how Qin Mu and Mu Yichen don’t take her seriously.

”Oh! I mean, mom, you are the mistress of the Mu Family, who dares not to care about you? Whether it’s my brother or me, especially that girl Qin Mu, if she didn’t care about you, would she let you scold her into a little pet without even a word in return?”

Mu Qingxin deliberately mimicked her tone. Feng Fanghua found it increasingly strange the more she listened. Once she realized, she stood up angrily to hit her. Mu Qingxin, knowing she’d been found out, quickly ran away, shouting as she ran: ”Mom, don’t chase me too hard, be careful of straining your back. With Qin Mu not around now, I wouldn’t know how to give you a massage.”

”You little girl, going to keep talking back?”

Feng Fanghua was so angry she nearly had a fit.

Later, Feng Fanghua asked Mu Qingxin to call Qin Mu and invite her home for dinner that evening. Mu Qingxin couldn’t believe it and asked her several times before quietly going upstairs to call Qin Mu.

Mu Yichen hadn’t returned from exercising yet. She was home, cutting up fruit and watching cartoons with her son and daughter. When she heard the phone ring, Chengcheng had already brought the phone to her. She signaled to Chengcheng with her eyes, saying: smart kid, and then answered the call.

”Let me tell you, I don’t know what my mom is up to, but she suddenly said she wants you to come home for dinner.”

Mu Qingxin whispered mischievously on the phone with Qin Mu, though she was alone in her room, still making the atmosphere unusually tense.

Qin Mu subconsciously licked her lower lip, feeling a bit dazed too, what’s going on?

After hanging up, Qin Mu was still pondering Feng Fanghua’s intentions when Huanhuan looked up at her: ”Mom, whose call was it?”

”Your aunt!”

Qin Mu replied instinctively.

”What does aunt want with you?”

Chengcheng, curious as well, asked, wanting to go to grandma’s house to play with Zifeng.

”Your grandma invited us over for dinner tonight.”

Qin Mu muttered softly.

Her responses were instinctive.

But the two little ones suddenly jumped up from the couch, clapping their hands: ”Yay!”

Qin Mu’s ear hurt from the noise, not understanding why they were so suddenly and overly excited.

Qin Mu thought, if they’re going, she couldn’t bring the kids back alone; she must call Mu Yichen along.

So in the afternoon, when Mu Yichen returned, she didn’t act distant as usual.

Mu Yichen sat beside her with a glass of water, feeling unsettled by her quiet, odd gaze.

Upon her return, within minutes, he found an excuse to go exercise and avoid her. As for the reason, Qin Mu didn’t know, but he understood. Now, being stared at like this, he was truly anxious.

”Do you have something to say?”

Mu Yichen frowned and asked her softly, not liking the atmosphere with just the two of them downstairs, while the kids had somehow gone upstairs.

”Why are you so nervous? I just wanted to tell you that your mom had your sister call to invite me over for dinner.”

Qin Mu, not understanding his reaction, still decided to share her issue with him.

Mu Yichen was taken aback but, while relieved, still a bit confused. However, he soon said to her, ”Oh!”

”Oh?”

”I’ll go with you, it’s just a meal!”

Mu Yichen, snapping out of it, recognized her concern and casually reassured her.
