His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 2262: Chapter 657: A Year Later (34) - President Mu Is a Lone Wolf

Mu Yichen lowered his eyes to look at his empty palm, the dark pupils gradually dyed with a hint of laughter.

After a while, he leaned over, opened the cigarette case on the table, took a cigarette from it, lit it with a rather satisfied demeanor, and took a deep, comforting drag.

Qin Mu returned to the room to look for pajamas, then turned and exited his room. Thinking carefully, since she came back, she hadn’t seen Miss Chen contacting him. When Miss Chen saw her, she spoke such words, could they have really broken up?

Qin Mu entered the bathroom in Huanhuan’s room, showered while speculating, later realizing she was overthinking. She sighed, quickly finished bathing, and lay down on Huanhuan’s bed.

Just as she got into bed and covered herself with the blanket, the door was opened from the outside.

Mu Yichen stood at the door with wine and a glass in hand, leaning casually, and softly asked, ”Want to have a couple of drinks before sleeping?”

Qin Mu’s bright eyes lowered for a moment, thinking she wasn’t too sleepy now, agreed, ”Sure!”

Mu Yichen walked in, sat by the bed, handed her a wine glass, and then poured the wine.

Qin Mu held the glass and watched him pour generously, subconsciously raising her eyes to look at him.

After pouring her wine, Mu Yichen poured himself a full glass, placed the bottle nearby, and looked at Qin Mu, ”You don’t mind me sitting here, do you?”

”Come on! Haven’t you already been sitting here?”

Qin Mu glanced at him, thinking he was someone who wouldn’t do what others told him he couldn’t.

Mu Yichen chuckled softly and climbed onto the bed, kicking off his shoes.

The two leaned against the headboard, holding their wine glasses, taking small sips of the red wine, plunging into another bout of silence.

Later, Qin Mu moved to the other side, leaning against the wall, the two facing diagonally, yet just capable of seeing each other’s eyes.

Mu Yichen looked up at the somewhat glaring light, picked up the nearby remote control, and turned off the lamp, no longer seeing each other clearly. Qin Mu relaxed quietly.

”How did you break up with Miss Chen?”

Qin Mu asked him casually, holding her wine.

”Do you really want to know?”

Mu Yichen softly asked her, eyes still visible through the darkness.

”Just passing the time, chat a bit!”

Qin Mu responded good-naturedly.

”Just not suitable together!”

Mu Yichen said, sipping lightly from his wine glass.

Qin Mu couldn’t see his expression but felt he might have sighed.

”Oh!”

Qin Mu almost forgot, when Mu explained something, it was so simple there was no going simpler, such chats quickly ended.

”And you with your assistant?”

Mu Yichen suddenly asked.

Asked this in the dark, Qin Mu slightly raised her eyes toward him, unsure if it was fear of the dark, or concern her answer wouldn’t suffice, she felt somewhat anxious.

”There’s nothing between us, at most he’s pursuing me, but I’ve never considered developing anything with him.”

Qin Mu thought she should be straightforward, as he knew her thoughts, likely wouldn’t press further.

”Still held back by your parents’ matters?”

Unexpectedly, Mu Yichen brought up old issues, Qin Mu felt as if a skilled martial artist had struck her with a painful punch, rendering her speechless.

”Life is so short, you really should enjoy the present.”

Mu Yichen’s voice, in such an environment, seemed especially vexing.

”Hmph! Yes, I’ll think about it!”

Qin Mu felt displeased, but her words came out crisp and direct.

Mu Yichen’s gaze grew ever deeper and more intense upon her.

Qin Mu felt uncomfortable under his stare and turned to look elsewhere.

Unaware that her eyes had become wet with tears.

”Let’s toast, wishing you quickly leave the shadows behind!”

Mu Yichen extended his long arm.

Qin Mu looked back at him, through dim light outside, saw the red liquid in the wine glass, lazily extended her glass forward.

”Perhaps not leaving the shadows doesn’t prevent me from having ambiguous relationships with men.”

Maybe his words struck her, so when Qin Mu spoke, it was a bit...

Two glasses clinked lightly together, producing a crisp sound, afterward she annoyedly guided the wine slowly into her belly, Mu Yichen followed suit.

”Your mom asked you to go home for the New Year, don’t forget!”

Qin Mu softly reminded him again.

Mu Yichen didn’t respond, just turned to pick up the bottle, in the dark filled his glass again, then asked Qin Mu, ”Want more?”

Qin Mu reflexively handed her glass to him.

It’s unclear when their vision got so good, but they managed to pour so perfectly.
