His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 2257: Chapter 656: Refusing to Buy Clothes for Elders

Qin Mu suddenly couldn’t find any words. First place? This girl’s grades are that good? No wonder her mouth is so sharp!

”Being first doesn’t mean you can get cocky. Maybe next time some other classmate will catch up with you. When you’ve got time, read your textbooks more, stop watching those crappy TV dramas all day, okay?”

”Mom, is it because you can’t win the argument, so now you want to lecture me?”

Qin Mu was so mad she couldn’t speak, she smacked her own forehead hard. ”Lecture you? How would I dare? I’m going to wash my face!”

Huanhuan hugged a throw pillow, turned and watched Qin Mu walk away, then sighed helplessly. ”Such a silly mom.”

After breakfast Qin Mu and Mu Yichen took the kids out. The brother and sister had gone to learn ice hockey a few times over the past half year; after driving a long way, they finally arrived at the rink.

The kids were entertaining themselves out on the ice, while Qin Mu and Mu Yichen sat in the viewing area. Watching those two little rascals being so serious, Qin Mu couldn’t help feeling a bit ashamed.

Over this past year, she really had missed a lot of things in her children’s lives. No wonder so many people outside said she didn’t love her kids anymore; she really didn’t count as much of a good mother.

Mu Yichen kept looking at his phone, his brows furrowed. After he was done, he turned to Qin Mu. ”My phone’s out of battery. Let me use yours for a bit.”

Qin Mu turned to look at him. Seeing how serious he was, she took her phone out of her bag and handed it to him.

Mu Yichen got up and went out with her phone. Qin Mu stayed sitting there, puzzling over it for a while. Chengcheng fell on the ice, and she jumped up in a panic, completely forgetting that Mu Yichen had taken her phone.

But Chengcheng immediately scrambled back to his feet and kept chasing after Huanhuan.

Qin Mu didn’t go down to the ice. She’d never been the type to rush over and help a child up the second they fell. Watching Chengcheng being so brave now, she felt relieved and sat back down.

More than twenty minutes later, Mu Yichen finally came back and handed her phone to her.

Qin Mu didn’t think much of it, she just said to him, ”Just now Chengcheng fell down!”

”He’s probably fine, right?”

Mu Yichen glanced down at the rink. Seeing his son still sprinting around, he confirmed that he was okay.

”He’s fine, but Chengcheng was pretty brave!”

For some reason, Qin Mu started laughing.

Mu Yichen turned to look at her, saw the pride in her eyes, and smiled too.

In the afternoon, the family grabbed a quick bite at the nearby McDonald’s. Of course, it was ”quick” for the two of them; that brother and sister absolutely did not eat casually.

After they were full, they went strolling again.

”Mom, should we go buy clothes?”

As they passed a mall, Huanhuan asked. It was almost New Year, and she still hadn’t gotten any new clothes.

Qin Mu looked at the mall outside, thought for a moment, then turned to Mu Yichen. ”What do you think?”

”Mom and Dad’s New Year outfits can just be taken from your store. I don’t care. As for these two, you decide.”

Mu Yichen slowly pulled the car over to the side of the road, waiting for Qin Mu to make the final call.

Qin Mu hadn’t expected him to bring up the elders’ New Year clothes. Not long ago, Feng Fanghua had refused the clothes JY staff brought to her. Qin Mu figured Feng Fanghua was deliberately drawing a line with her. Even though she was still the daughter-in-law, anything she sent, Feng Fanghua clearly no longer liked.

”It’s already year’s end, the elders probably bought their own clothes long ago, right?”

Qin Mu turned to look at Mu Yichen as she asked.

The two little ones listened to their parents talking from the back seat, but didn’t chime in.

Mu Yichen’s eyes lowered slightly. When he opened his mouth, he spoke in a low, thoughtful tone. ”In past years you always sent them clothes. This year you don’t want to?”

Qin Mu looked into those deep eyes of his for a long moment, then finally lowered her head, rubbing her fingers as she said, ”Earlier, Mom already refused the new clothes JY sent over, and told Wang Li there’s no need to send clothes to the house anymore.”

Mu Yichen’s brows creased; he actually hadn’t known about this.

”I already finished their outfits in Paris a while ago. This afternoon I got a call saying they’ve been delivered to the apartment, we just need to pick them up at the door.”

”What about me?”

After listening, Mu Yichen nodded, then turned to look at her and asked.

Qin Mu looked at him too, and let out a soft chuckle. ”You also don’t have to struggle with wearing our brand’s clothes anymore.”

”What’s there to struggle with? Free clothes—why wouldn’t I take them?”

Qin Mu let out a long sigh, but for a while couldn’t say anything.

She thought, You’ve still got clothes from other brands sitting in your office, and now you’re telling me you wouldn’t turn down free clothes.

The family arrived at JY. After Qin Mu and Mu Yichen got out of the car, the two kids immediately took off running, shouting back at them as they ran, ”Mom, Dad, you go buy clothes, we’re going to the bookstore to read!”
