Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 376, Mission Reward – Equipment Upgrade

Translator: Silavin

This was just an Opportune Mission, not an Opportune Secret Realm. Therefore, the Reward was not as good as a Secret Realm Reward, with only one item.

Even so, Lu Fan was satisfied, as what he really wanted was all the Shadow Isle Essence scattered on the ground. Getting a Reward on top of that was just an unexpected bonus.

Lu Fan dispersed the white light, and the Reward appeared before his eyes.

It was a Scroll, and Lu Fan found it very Familiar. It was an Equipment Grade Enhancement Scroll.

He had received this type of Scroll before as a Reward from the National Trial Secret Realm’s Lucky Scroll Bag. At the time, he used it to upgrade his Flaming Meteor Sword.

While this Scroll looked identical to the previous one, it emitted a noticeably different glow.

[It seems like this Scroll is of a Higher Grade.] Lu Fan examined it in his hands, confirming his suspicion.

Equipment Grade Enhancement Scroll (Epic Grade Special Item)
Description: When used, can upgrade equipment’s Level and Grade. Cannot be used on equipment above Epic Grade.

The previous Scroll was Diamond Grade, but this one was Epic Grade.

This Scroll could be used on the Flaming Meteor Sword, Underworld Serpent’s Cry, or Flying Dragon King’s Bone Wings – all were useful equipment for Lu Fan.

While Lu Fan was contemplating how to use this Scroll, Ye Wuxian flew over using Flight. She was holding a small bag full of Shadow Isle Essence, which she handed to Lu Fan.

“The harvest was good. I alone collected over three hundred Shadow Isle Essence. Seems like you’ve already gathered all the Shadow Isle Essence you need from this one location.”

Ye Wuxian said with a smile, then noticed the Scroll in Lu Fan’s hand and exclaimed in surprise. “What luck!”

Lu Fan accepted the Shadow Isle Essence with thanks, then smiled and said, “Indeed, my luck is quite good. The Mission rewarded me with an Epic Grade, Equipment Grade Enhancement Scroll. I’m currently deciding how to use it.”

“An Epic Grade, Equipment Grade Enhancement Scroll? That’s a treasure!” Ye Wuxian smiled. “Although it’s not as good as a No Level Requirement Enchantment Scroll, it’s still an extremely valuable Scroll. Since this is an Epic Grade Scroll, you should use it on one of your currently equipped Diamond Grade Equipment. Turning what you are already using into an Epic Grade Equipment means this precious Scroll won’t go to waste.”

After thinking for a moment, Ye Wuxian continued “If I remember correctly, your Flying Dragon King’s Bone Wings are Diamond Grade, right? You could upgrade it to Epic Grade. Since you’ve already used a No Level Requirement Enchantment Scroll on it, upgrading its Grade and Level would be the most cost-effective choice.”

Lu Fan nodded, thinking Ye Wuxian’s suggestion made sense.

He had been wavering between the Underworld Serpent’s Cry and Flying Dragon King’s Bone Wings. Although he found the Underworld Serpent’s Cry comfortable to use, with Bao Bao, Xing Chen, and Xiao Ye around, he did not really need higher Attack.

In comparison, the Flying Dragon King’s Bone Wings were more suitable for upgrading.

So, Lu Fan decisively used the Scroll on the Flying Dragon King’s Bone Wings. With a flash of light, the Bone Wings immediately transformed.

The Bone Wings became larger and more crystalline, like jade. Looking closely, one could see faint lights flowing within the wings, clearly imbued with indescribable power.

The Flying Dragon King’s Bone Wings looked significantly more impressive than before. However, Lu Fan was more concerned with its actual properties.

When Lu Fan checked, he found that besides becoming a Level 70 Epic Grade Equipment, even its name had changed.

It was now called Holy Dragon King’s Bone Wings.

A single word difference, but it represented a whole different Dragon Species.

Perhaps because the Flying Dragon King beside Lu Fan had gradually transformed into a Fallen Corpse Holy Dragon King, this closely related equipment also underwent a dramatic transformation. Besides improved Attributes, it also gained a new Passive Skill, Dragon Bloodline Resonance.

This Passive Skill was simple yet practical. When he had it equipped, it would activate his Fallen Corpse Holy Dragon King’s Bloodline Power, increasing Attributes by 20%.

Although a 20% increase might not seem much, given the Fallen Corpse Holy Dragon King’s terrifying Attributes, even a 20% increase meant tens of thousands of Attribute Points.

The Fallen Corpse Holy Dragon King already had extremely High Attribute to begin with, so a Skill that could increase its Attributes even further was naturally great. This made Lu Fan want to jump with joy.

After re-equipping it, Lu Fan clearly felt the increase in speed when flying with the Holy Dragon King’s Bone Wings.

[Using the Scroll on the Bone Wings is indeed the most cost-effective choice. Now, I have two Mythical Grade, one Epic Grade, and two Diamond Grade Equipment. What a luxurious setup!]

After using the Scroll, Andrei and the others had also returned, handing over all their collected Shadow Isle Essence to Lu Fan.

After counting, Lu Fan found that including what he had collected previously, the amount of Shadow Isle Essence exceeded eight hundred. It was far more than enough to craft the Shadow Dragon King Contract, with a ton to spare.

Lu Fan did not hesitate to keep the excess materials though. Judging by its name, the Shadow Isle Essence probably only dropped here, so having some extra would not hurt.

After collecting the materials, Lu Fan did not forget to turn all the Monster corpses into Fallen Corpse Puppets for the Fallen Corpse Holy Dragon King to absorb.

After ‘squeezing’ all value from the Monsters here, Lu Fan finally led everyone forward into the ancient city.

With the Guardian Flow Skill active, everyone no longer needed to fear the shadow mist’s Debuff Effects, and could maintain peak condition. So, their progress speed has notably increased.

Soon, they passed through the ruined city gate and entered the city.

Inside the ancient city, as Lu Fan expected, everything was desolate and torn apart. Huge gnashes covered everything, leaving the entire city in fragments.

Many Monsters also lurked in the darkness, waiting to strike.

However, under Lu Fan’s Black Dragon Perception, these Monsters had nowhere to hide. Naturally, they were all slain by the group.

Soon, after exploring forward for a while, they discovered that although the ancient city looked desolate and torned apart, it was actually a water city.

While the city’s outskirts was unremarkable, from the core area onward, they could see waterways crisscrossing throughout the city like streets. These waterways were also not dry; they flowed with black water that emitted black mist.

The deeper they went into the ancient city, the more dense these mist-emitting waterways became, making the darkness above the city increasingly thick.

One could imagine that without the Guardian Flow Skill, even Fourth Profession Players here would have all their Attributes stripped away within seconds if their Resistance was not high enough, leaving them at the mercy of the Monsters here.
