Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 181, If We Kill All the Monsters, Won’t the Crisis Be Resolved?

Translator: Silavin

“Enemy attack!” Lui Fei and the others, being soldiers, reacted extremely quickly, immediately mounting their Sky Mounts.

Lu Fan, though less experienced in this aspect, did not lag behind. With a flap of his bone wings, he followed closely behind them.

After soaring into the sky, Lu Fan did not immediately see any Monster. However, another *whooshing* sound arose as a huge ice block hurtled towards Lui Fei.

Lu Changkong, quick-eyed and quick-handed, casted Guardian Shield on Lui Fei.

The Guardian Shield could directly negate 90% of the damage. Even so, when the ice block exploded on the Guardian Shield, the remaining 10% of damage still made Lui Fei and his Griffin stagger, nearly knocking them out of the sky.

The effect of the Guardian Shield also disappeared after such a heavy hit.

Looking in the direction the ice block came from, Lu Fan discovered it was not that there were no Monsters here, but that their white fur matched the snow perfectly, making them almost invisible unless carefully looked at.

There were three giant apes over five meters tall, covered in white fur, wielding huge bone clubs.

Lu Fan used Appraisal Eye on them, revealing their information.

They were Level 80 Elite Monsters, Ice Plain Yetis (Fallen Corpse Puppet). They had a terrifyingly High Strength Attribute of 950 and the Skill – Ice Throw.

They could transform snow into huge ice blocks and throw them from their hands. Doing this, they not only could attack from a distance with considerable power, but they could also slow down their enemies upon impact.

Even though their Agility Attribute were not that high and their movement speed was far from exceptional, once their enemies were hit by Ice Throw and slowed down, it would be very difficult to escape from them.

For example, now, after Lui Fei was hit by Ice Throw, although he was not too badly hurt, the shattered ice block dispersed chilling air, enveloping him and covering him and his Griffin in frost, visibly reducing their speed.

Seeing their first attack succeed, the three Ice Plain Yetis did not rush in to continue attacking. Instead, they raised their bone clubs high, making *woo woo woo* sounds with their mouths, as if celebrating in advance that they had caught their prey.

“Three Level 80 Elite Monsters dare to come seeking death!?” Lu Changkong was red with rage as he cast Skills to remove the Slow Debuff on Lui Fei.

If they were a group of ordinary Level 70 Players, facing an equal number of Level 80 Elite Monsters, unless their team composition was well-balanced, it would be hard to fight.

However, they were members of the Griffin Legion, chosen from among tens of thousands. Lui Fei and his team were far stronger than ordinary Players. So, they were not afraid of facing these three Level 80 Elite Monsters head-on.

However, Lui Fei, who had just recovered from the Slow Debuff, had no intention of fighting them. Instead, he loudly shouted, “Don’t engage with the Ice Plain Yetis, they’re Pack Monsters. A single group often has twenty to thirty members. They might just be scouts. There are probably many more Ice Plain Yetis nearby. If we get surrounded, it’ll be very hard for us to escape.”

Shen Cai nodded and said, “How about I use my Pet Eagles to attract their attention while we retreat? As long as we’re not hit by their Ice Throw and Slowed, we should be able to outrun them with our speed.”

The other two agreed with Shen Cai’s suggestion, but just as the three were about to leave, several huge ice blocks suddenly came flying from two other directions.

Lu Changkong was greatly shocked and immediately used his Third Profession’s Divine Skill, Holy Light Shield. He summoned a golden shield to protect everyone.

As this was an incredible Skill that granted Invulnerability, it withstood several ice blocks without breaking. But this Skill only lasted for ten seconds. Once the time was up, Lu Changkong’s defensive Skills were basically exhausted, and he had no way to cast shields to protect everyone again.

At this time, looking towards the other two directions where the ice blocks came from, they despairingly found Ice Plain Yetis appearing there too. They were also of considerable numbers – about ten on each side.

Clearly, they were already surrounded by this group of Ice Plain Yetis.

There were over twenty Ice Plain Yetis attacking from three directions, leaving no way for them to escape.

“Damn it! Over twenty Ice Plain Yetis! We’re in trouble now…” Lu Changkong could not help but curse, gripping his longsword, not daring to act rashly for the moment.

Shen Cai’s face turned pale as she looked to Lui Fei, hoping the Squad Leader could give some orders.

Lui Fei’s expression was solemn as he surveyed the over twenty Ice Plain Yetis closing in on his small squad from all sides. He said in a deep voice. “We only have a less than five percent chance of successfully escaping from the Ice Plain Yetis’ encirclement. So, don’t act rashly for now. Let me think of a better way. Any sudden movements now will only invite more Ice Throw counterattacks.”

In his mind, he frantically thought of escape plans based on his experience, trying his best to find a way for his men to escape this desperate situation.

At this moment, someone suddenly spoke up. “I think it’s actually not that difficult to deal with this situation.”

Everyone instinctively looked towards the speaker, Lu Fan.

Lu Changkong asked in surprise, “Do you have a way to escape from this place?”

Lu Fan nodded and said, “If we kill these Ice Plain Yetis, won’t the crisis be resolved?”

Lu Changkong: “…”

Not just Lu Changkong, but the other two were also speechless.

Shen Cai even said in displeasure. “At a time like this, you still have the mood to joke around!?”

Lu Fan’s expression was solemn though. “I’m not joking. Not in the slightest, Since we’ve encountered Monsters, we should just kill them…”

“Alright, alright…” Lu Changkong could not bear to listen to this nonsense anymore and interrupted Lu Fan. He seriously stated, “Brother Lu, don’t cause trouble. Just follow us closely. You’re still young, and you’re the top freshman from Dragon Capital University with a bright future ahead of you. We’ll try our best to safely get you back to the camp. But the premise is that you need to listen to us and not act rashly.”

At this time, Lui Fei seemed to have formulated a plan and said. “Shen Cai, give the Teleportation Scroll back to the camp to Lu Fan for safekeeping. In a moment, we’ll charge towards the direction of the first three Yetis. Comparatively, their force is weakest in that direction, giving us the best chance to break through.”

“Shen Cai, summon all your Summons to help us hold off the Ice Throw from the other Yetis as much as possible. Even if the Summons die, they must block as many Skills as possible. We absolutely cannot let anyone get Slowed.”

“I’ll charge at the front, trying to tear open a gap. Shen Cai, you have a Summoner Type Profession with weak Combat Power yourself, so stay in the middle with Lu Fan.”

“As for Lu Changkong, you’re responsible for bringing up the rear. Use Skills whenever you can…”

After a pause, Lui Fei’s tone became heavier as he said, “If something unexpected happens and you need to stay behind to hold off all the Ice Plain Yetis… Well, I’ll be with you too, of course. At that time, Lu Fan, you tear the Teleportation Scroll and return to the camp through the Transfer Array before the Yetis destroy it.”

Lu Changkong’s role was made clear, to use his life to hold off the Monsters if the escape failed, buying time for the others.

However, even knowing he had the smallest chance of escape, Lu Changkong’s was optimistic. He shouldered his longsword and said with a smile, “No problem.”

Lui Fei nodded and said, “In that case, let’s prepare. We’ll charge through their formation!”

Shen Cai took out the Teleportation Scroll to return back to camp from her Inventory and handed it to Lu Fan.

Lu Fan wanted to refuse, but Shen Cai glared at him and fiercely said, “Take it! Follow our Squad Leader’s orders!”

Left with no choice, Lu Fan could only put the scroll away.

Seeing everything was ready and the Ice Plain Yetis’ encirclement was constantly shrinking, if they did not charge now, their chances of survival would be even smaller.

Lui Fei spurred his Griffin and immediately ordered, “Charge!”

Instantly, his Griffin leapt forward, with the others following closely behind in formation.

Seeing their surrounded prey actually daring to try to escape, how could the Ice Plain Yetis not do anything? Although they had been turned into Fallen Corpse Puppets by that unknown aura, their fighting style had not changed.

Immediately, the three Ice Plain Yetis in the direction of the charge all reached for the snow on the ground, transforming it into huge ice blocks to hurl at Lu Fan and the others.

“Spear of Victory!” With Lui Fei’s loud roar, he pointed his spear tip forward, and golden light burst forth.

The phantom of a golden spear suddenly thrust forward like a sharp blade, intending to tear open an escape route for everyone.

Ahead, three ice blocks came flying in succession, colliding with this golden spear.

The first ice block was directly pulverized, but the golden spear’s light immediately dimmed.

The second ice block also shattered on the spot, but the golden spear shattered along with it, its Skill Effect disappearing.

The third ice block followed closely, but Lui Fei had no way to deal with it anymore. It looked like he was about to be hit head-on by this Ice Throw.

Originally, Lui Fei could have killed even three Ice Plain Yetis. But he was currently in a rush to break through and had no time to display his full strength in combat with them.

Therefore, in just one exchange, he found himself in a crisis.

Lui Fei’s eyes widened as he gripped his spear tightly, intending to use his body to break through this Skill and open an escape route for the others behind him.

However, at this moment, a flame shot out from behind him like an arrow, accurately shattering the third ice block.

This unexpected development greatly surprised Lui Fei, who instinctively looked back.

He saw that Lu Fan had somehow taken out a cavalry bow. That arrow just now had clearly come from his hand.

Lui Fei was stunned. [A Level 32 Player shooting down the Skill of a Level 80 Elite Monster with one arrow? How is this possible!? Isn’t he a Silver Dragon Rider? Are Silver Dragon Riders actually an Archer Type Hidden Profession? Even if he is an Arrow God, releasing a Skill should not hold that much power, right?]

When Lui Fei’s gaze fell on the cavalry bow in Lu Fan’s hand, he was even more shocked – he was all too familiar with this bow!
