Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 168, The Identity of the Night Attacker

Translator: Silavin

A figure appeared in the sky above Villa No. 1. This figure was bathed in flames, like a fire god who was descending to Earth. Their hair transformed into dancing flames as their eyes flickered with fire.

This form was not unfamiliar to High Level Mages. After the Third Profession Change for Mages, there was a Divine Skill called Mage God Form.

Once this form was activated, the Mage’s body would be imbued with Elemental Power, greatly enhancing their Mana Attributes and Magic Attack for a certain period of time.

However, after activating Mage God Form, they would enter a longer period of weakness, so this skill was generally only used when Mages chose to go all-in on Dealing Damage.

This Mage had clearly undergone their Third Profession Change, a Fire Mage God. Naturally, this Mage was able to use Mage God Form. At the same time, the Skill that had been casted on Villa No. 1 was another Fire Mage God Skill, their strongest Magic Attack Skill, Fallen Sun.

Using these two Skills simultaneously meant that the Mage was aiming for a one-shot kill!

The Fire Mage God stood in mid-air, holding his staff, looking down at his handiwork with a satisfied smile on his face.

Then, he took out a Transfer Stone from his Inventory, about to crush it and escape from here.

Just at this moment, a sudden explosion came from Villa No. 1, which had been engulfed in flames.

A Black Dragon flew out, with the Fire Mage God’s flames burning on its body, unable to cause any damage.

The Black Dragon flew through the fire, and in its front claws, it was holding two people – Qin Qiu and Tao Xiaoman.

Their two beautiful faces were smudged with soot, looking like raccoons. But they were both protected by Jade Shield, so they had not been injured.

Besides the Black Dragon, another figure with a pair of huge bone wings on his back also flew out. It was Lu Fan carrying Han Ke.

Similarly, both of them were also protected by Jade Shield.

The moment he sensed something was wrong, Lu Fan’s battle senses, honed by the Senior Sister, made him immediately summon Xiao Cui and Xiao Ye, the former casting Jade Shield on everyone in Villa No. 1.

At the same time, after enduring the first wave of damage from Fallen Sun, Lu Fan and Xiao Ye rescued Qin Qiu, Tao Xiaoman, and Han Ke from the sea of flames, preventing them from suffering further Burn Damage.

After flying out of the sea of flames, Lu Fan did not forget to look back at the Fire Mage God in mid-air, his eyes full of killing intent.

The fact that the other party suddenly attacked their villa with full force at this time meant they were targeting to kill them!

If he had not reacted quickly enough, and if Xiao Cui’s Buff was not strong enough to tank the damage, he might have really fallen for the enemy’s trap!

And not just him, his Aunt, Qin Qiu, and Tao Xiaoman, who were living under the same roof, would certainly have been caught in the disaster, burned to charcoal from the Fallen Sun.

Lu Fan quickly placed Han Ke in a safe location, while Xiao Ye followed Lu Fan closely, setting down the still-shocked Qin Qiu and Tao Xiaoman.

After placing the three women with lower Combat Power in a safe spot, Lu Fan pulled Xiao Cui out of his arms and stuffed her into Han Ke’s embrace. He stated, “Auntie, stay here with Xiao Cui and don’t come over. With her protecting you, no one can harm you guys. Xiao Ye and I are going to catch that bastard to uncover who they are and how they are so daring as to assassinate us within Dragon Capital University!”

With that, Lu Fan’s bone wings suddenly flapped, and he shot off like an arrow towards the enemy. Han Ke could not even stop him in time.

Xiao Ye, loyal to her Master, naturally followed by Lu Fan’s side.

At this moment, the Fire Mage God had also recovered from the shock of Lu Fan not dying. Holding the Transfer Stone in his hand, he found himself in a dilemma.

According to the plan, after bombing Lu Fan to death, he was supposed to use the Transfer Stone to escape and save his life. But now that Lu Fan was not dead, it had completely disrupted his entire plan.

If he stayed here to try and kill Lu Fan, he definitely would not be able to escape from Dragon Capital University, which was full of powerful Players.

But if he left now, he would lose the best chance to kill Lu Fan.

In that brief moment of consideration, Lu Fan and Xiao Ye had already flown to the sky above Villa No. 1, and were only a hundred metres away from him.

The other person was in his Mage God Form, making it difficult for Lu Fan to recognise his features. However, when Lu Fan saw his face, he immediately had a feeling of familiarity yet strangeness.

[This man! I’m sure I’ve seen him before! But only a few times. I don’t have much of an impression of him and can’t really recall where I have met him…] Lu Fan soon understood that the other party was not an outsider of the University.

“A teacher from the University!?” Lu Fan looked at the other person, somewhat in disbelief.

The other person was clearly startled by Lu Fan’s words and instinctively raised his arm to cover his face.

[A Third Profession Fire Mage God. If he really is a teacher, he is definitely a professor. A professor from Dragon Capital University is trying to assassinate me in the middle of the night? His identity must not be as simple as it seems. Regardless, something is very fishy about this situation and I need to capture him!]

Seeing the Transfer Stone in the other party’s hand, Lu Fan’s eyes narrowed as he coldly shouted, “Thinking of leaving!? Stay and let’s have a good chat!”

With that, Lu Fan’s Flying Dragon King’s Bone Wings flapped once, propelling his body forward at extreme high speed towards the other party.

Mages could fly entirely because of a Third Profession Skill, Flight.

Although Flight allowed Mages to fly, it was not fast, nowhere near comparable to a Sky Mount, or the Additional Trait, Soaring from Lu Fan’s bone wings.

So facing Lu Fan’s rush, it was basically impossible for the other party to escape.

Seeing that Lu Fan actually chose to confront him head-on, the Fire Mage God steeled his resolve and decided to kill Lu Fan first. If he could leave afterwards, that would be good; if not, he could always commit suicide.

It might seem wasteful for a Fire Mage God like himself to trade his life for Lu Fan, but if it meant depriving Dragon Country of a Dragon Tamer with unfathomable potential, and losing the National Trial, it was worthwhile the more he thought about it.

With this in mind, the Fire Mage God waved his staff, rapidly forming balls of fire above his head, which rained down towards Lu Fan like a storm.

Lu Fan did not even bother to dodge. At the same time, Xiao Ye flew out from behind Lu Fan. Her huge body protected him as she spewed out a Dragon Breath from her mouth, which was the Lava Blaze Skill.

One was a Third Profession Mage Skill, the other was Dragon Language Magic. How would they compare?

Almost instantly, the Third Profession Fire Mage God’s fireballs were all swallowed up by Xiao Ye’s Lava Blaze.

Xiao Ye’s Dragon Breath surged upward, directly rushing back towards the Fire Mage God, threatening to engulf him.

The Fire Mage God was just a Mage, and he definitely could not withstand Xiao Ye’s Dragon Breath. He had not expected the Black Dragon to be so powerful, despite being far lower in Level. Its Skill Power completely outclassed him!

He did not dare to even block it with a shield. He immediately used Blink, appearing fifty metres away in the air, now unhesitatingly trying to crush the Transfer Stone.

Through this brief clash, he had already realised that Lu Fan was not someone he could easily kill. If he dragged this out any longer, he would just be throwing his life away for nothing. He knew today’s mission could not be completed, that he could only wait for others to make their move.

Just as the Fire Mage God was about to crush the Transfer Stone, he suddenly heard a voice behind him. “Did I say you could leave?”

The Fire Mage God drew in a sharp breath. Before he could turn his head to see if it was Lu Fan, he felt a hand grab the back of his neck. It was followed by a tremendous force pushing downwards.

The Fire Mage God did not even have time to struggle before Lu Fan pressed him down from mid-air, crashing into the ground with a loud *boom*.

With a Mage’s frail body, the impact from falling to the ground was already enough to take half his Health Points away.

The Fire Mage God immediately coughed up blood, with many of his bones shattering. This heavy blow forcibly terminated his Mage God Form, and the flames on his body gradually dissipated, revealing his true appearance.

This was an old man who looked to be in his sixties, with greying hair. Although he was dressed in all black, Lu Fan could now recognise him at a glance. He knew he had definitely seen him on campus before. [You were there when receiving Ruan Changfeng. He was someone among the University leaders behind the principal. He should be a vice principal!]

“So you really are part of the University!” Lu Fan released his hand, taking the opportunity to crush the Transfer Stone in the man’s hand with his foot.

By now, the commotion here had attracted the attention of many people, with Noble Class Students from the surrounding villas coming out to see what was happening.

When they saw that Villa No. 1 had been attacked and was still burning, many people exclaimed in shock.

After all, no one had imagined that such a dangerous incident would occur in the prestigious Dragon Capital University.

Seeing that many people had gathered here, Lu Fan thought that today’s incident had really blown up.

This vice principal, who had inexplicably attacked his villa, needed to be handed over to the University for a thorough interrogation.

Just as Lu Fan was about to call Zhao Shengming, the Fire Mage God on the ground suddenly began to flicker with flames, like a branding iron gradually being heated red.

Lu Fan was momentarily confused, [What Skill is this!?]

At this moment, a Mage from the Noble Class, clearly more knowledgeable about the Mage Profession, saw this scene and his expression changed drastically. He shouted in terror, “Everyone quickly run away! This is the Fire Mage God’s Skill, Ultimate Blaze. It has a large Area of Effect, released by burning one’s own Health Points! It will annihilate everything within a large range!”

Ultimate Blaze was not a Skill that Fire Mage Gods could comprehend. One needed to learn it through a Skill Book. It was an obscure Skill, and the user would die after using it, so few people knew about it.

After someone who knew about this Skill explained its Effects, everyone immediately panicked. They used their strongest Skills to frantically flee.

This information naturally fell on Lu Fan’s ears as well. In fact, even without the Mage’s warning, Lu Fan had already sensed the danger emanating from this man’s body.

[so, you intend to use a self-destruct Skill to drag me and many more people down with you!?] Lu Fan did not know how powerful Ultimate Blaze was, but he certainly did not want to find out.

If he did not have Jade Shield on himself, if things went wrong, he could really die. So, Lu Fan rapidly retreated, trying to get as far away from this madman as possible.

“Thinking of leaving now? It’s too late! Die with me!” The Fire Mage God now looked no different from a branding iron, his face gradually becoming indistinguishable as he let out a low roar.
