Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 165, How Much of Your Strength Did You Use?

Translator: Silavin

In Ruan Changfeng’s eyes, the Dragon Race was indeed formidable, but his Demonic Bloodthirsty Bat was of a far Higher Level and was also a very powerful Monster Mount. With Guardian Shield granting a 90% Damage Reduction, he believes his Mount should be able to withstand an attack from Lu Fan’s Pet Dragon.

However, what happened next made his eyes bulge.

The Star Dragon King stomped down without using any Skills, but this single stomp directly shattered Ruan Changfeng’s Guardian Shield!

Strictly speaking, Guardian Shield was a Damage Reduction Skill, not like Jade Shield which could be broken through.

The Guardian Shield broke, There was only one possibility of this happening – even with Guardian Shield, the opponent’s attack was enough to instantly kill the target.

The Guardian Shield would only shatter if it could not protect the shielded person.

After all, even with a Damage Reduction of 90%, how could a strike from a pure Strength Combat Specialised Dragon like Xing Chen be easily withstood? Even with only 10% of the damage, Xing Chen’s stomp could easily crush the Demonic Bloodthirsty Bat to death!

*Boom!*

After the stomp landed, the entire room shook, and the VIP Arena instantly collapsed. Even the Defensive Skill the principal had setup could not protect the VIP Arena.

Dust and debris rose for a moment, but soon a strong wind swept through. Xing Chen flew out of the dust cloud, landing to the side. As if having completed an insignificant task, she curled up, eyes half-closed, looking very much like she was clocking out and resting after work.

This stomp seemed effortless, but it left a deep impression on everyone present.

Although it was an injured Demonic Bloodthirsty Bat, even with 90% Damage Reduction, this Dragon could still casually kill it with one stomp. The entire VIP Arena was also not spared. So, how powerful must its Strength Attribute be!? If this Dragon were to charge at an opponent head-on, who could stop it!?

[Is this the power of the Dragon Race? If it wanted to, could it easily shatter mountains and fill seas?!]  Zhao Shengming had completely turned to stone. From the beginning until now, each of Lu Fan’s Pet Dragons had only simply demonstrated their simplest abilities, yet each one left him shocked for a long time. He doubted if he was dreaming. After all, how could such a powerful race exist in this world?

Whether it was the Black Dragon’s Black Dragon Pressure, the Jade Dragon’s Jade Shield, the Star Dragon’s powerful stomp, or the two Flying Dragons’ Five Elements Dragon Breath, all were absurdly strong.

The Combat Power displayed by these Dragons was definitely not something a Level 30 should have. Even Level 60 Third Profession Players would not be able to withstand such an onslaught from these Pet Dragons.

With five Pet Dragons of this Combat Power, couldn’t Lu Fan directly challenge Fourth Profession Players!?

Terrifying.

Truly terrifying!

As the VIP Arena collapsed, Ruan Changfeng lost his balance and fell among the debris. When he saw the Demonic Bloodthirsty Bat disappear from his Pet Slot, he understood that his most valuable Sky Mount had been killed by Lu Fan.

Instantly, he felt his heart bleed!

Even with his money and power, an excellent Sky Mount like the Demonic Bloodthirsty Bat was not something easily obtainable. The effort he had spent to obtain this Mount was unimaginable to ordinary people. Yet, his Mount has been killed by Lu Fan.

This had nearly driven Ruan Changfeng mad with rage.

Lu Fan retracted his bone wings and landed on the ground. Seeing Ruan Changfeng nearly go berserk, he was not afraid in the slightest. Instead, he smiled and asked, “Special Envoy, I’m truly sorry about your Mount. But, as you said, you need to assess me. We both need to use our full strength. After all, the National Trial Secret Realm is like this, one misstep could cost me my life, right? You having a Sky Mount means trouble for me, so killing it first is the best option for me. In the context of the National Trial Secret Realm, this isn’t a problem, right?”

Hearing this, not only could Ruan Changfeng tell Lu Fan was doing it on purpose, even Zhao Shengming and the principal were speechless.

[You dare say Ruan Changfeng’s Sky Mount is troublesome? How can you say that with a straight face? If other Warrior Type Professions said this, it would make sense, but you? You can fly and use Dragon Language Magic. You can attack from afar and you have five Dragons, all of which can fly! For you, a Sky Mount is troublesome? Don’t bullshit with us. You just wanted to kill his Mount, didn’t you!]

[You still dare insist that this assessment is being conducted under the hypothetical conditions of the National Trial. You still dare claim that you had no choice but to kill his Mount. Let me ask you, did you even fight Ruan Changfeng according to these hypothetical conditions? If this was the National Trial, Ruan Changfeng would have died countless times already. You could have directly ordered your Flying Dragon Kings to attack and deal with Ruan Changfeng, ending this assessment. But what did you do? You could win but chose not to. You just wanted to play around! You want to use Ruan Changfeng like a toy. He clearly wants you to stop, but you didn’t give him the chance!]

Lu Fan’s actions were clearly akin to a cat playing with a mouse. However, what Lu Fan did was not entirely wrong.

This current situation was entirely due to Lu Fan being overwhelmingly strong. If he was weak, the one being treated like the mouse would be him, right?

Even if Lu Fan wanted to surrender, would Ruan Changfeng have given him that chance? Probably not.

Both Lu Fan and Ruan Changfeng knew about their grudge against each other. They just had not openly acknowledged it.

Using the opportunity of this so-called ‘assessment’, both wanted to teach the other a lesson.

However, Lu Fan was just too strong, so Ruan Changfeng ended up in such a miserable situation, even losing his Sky Mount.

Those words from Lu Fan, Ruan Changfeng felt the fire in his heart rush to his head. His beloved Mount had been killed, yet Lu Fan’s actions were entirely reasonable. No matter what happens, Ruan Changfeng really could not penalise him for it!

That was the most frustrating part.

Ruan Changfeng’s eyes were bloodshot as he suddenly stood up from the ground, holding his sword with both hands and charging at Lu Fan, without any strategy.

“You brat! I will kill you today!” Ruan Changfeng did not even use a Skill. He just charged to Lu Fan’s side in an instant and slashed.

Lu Fan merely stepped slightly to the side, easily dodging.

Ruan Changfeng continued to charge and slash at Lu Fan. Occasionally he would instinctively use some Skills, but the timing of the Skills and control of its power was completely chaotic.

Lu Fan, using the combat techniques he had learned from the Senior Sister, engaged in close combat with Ruan Changfeng. He would either dodge or raise his greatsword to block, leaving the nearly berserk Ruan Changfeng unable to do anything to him.

After exchanging blows for over a dozen rounds, Lu Fan gradually lost interest.

He had actually wanted to engage in close combat with Ruan Changfeng, a Level 76 Player. He wanted to test how much his combat skills had improved under his Senior Sister’s ‘training’. He wanted to know where he fell short compared to High Level Players like Ruan Changfeng.

But Ruan Changfeng was wildly swinging his greatsword as if he had lost his mind. He went at Lu Fan, completely without any strategy, and full of openings.

[What is the point of sparring with him if he is like this?] Lu Fan completely lost interest in Ruan Changfeng. So, he switched from defence to offence, no longer merely defending and dodging, only actively attacking.

With his enormous Strength Attribute, once Lu Fan began to attack fiercely, it was no longer something Ruan Changfeng could handle.

Ruan Changfeng felt the change in pressure, as if Lu Fan had suddenly turned into a mountain pressing down on him. The continuous attacks were not only from tricky angles, but they were also incredibly powerful. It left him with no room to counterattack.

Ruan Changfeng slightly recovered from his berserk state. However, he found that even if Lu Fan just engaged in close combat with him without using any Skills, he was still no match against him!

It was not just that Lu Fan’s Strength Attribute was too high. Rather, his combat techniques were also skilled and deadly. Not at all like what a Player that just had their Second Profession Change should be able to do!

After gaining the upper hand, Lu Fan relentlessly pressed his advantage. Ruan Changfeng did not even have time to use a Skill before being pushed back by Lu Fan.

Finally, with a flick of Lu Fan’s Black Dragon Scale Greatsword, Ruan Changfeng’s weapon was knocked flying.

Lu Fan also put away his weapon, but unleashed a punch, using Dragon Fang Strike barehanded, sending Ruan Changfeng flying.

In mid-air, Ruan Changfeng spat blood, flying over ten metres before crashing to the ground.

After landing, Ruan Changfeng had no strength left to get up. He had completely passed out.

Fortunately, Lu Fan had used Dragon Fang Strike barehanded just now. If he had used his Black Dragon Scale Greatsword, Ruan Changfeng might have been cleaved in half.

With Ruan Changfeng unconscious, this so-called ‘assessment’ came to an end. The result, naturally, was without any objection.

Ruan Changfeng had been toyed with by Lu Fan from start to end. How could he find any reason not to let Lu Fan participate in the National Trial now?

As for being beaten by Lu Fan and having his Sky Mount killed, Ruan Changfeng could only blame his bad luck.

Seeing the assessment conclude, the principal tapped their staff, and the flame barrier enveloping the arena dissipated and retreated. The flame soon gathered around Ruan Changfeng, forming another Transport Array.

“Vice Principal Zhao.” The principal spoke, “take the Special Envoy to the third floor and have the best Priests treat him.”

“Yes, principal.” Zhao Shengming nodded, then transformed into an electric arc that jumped, instantly appearing beside Ruan Changfeng. He reached out to lift him up, then stepped into the Transport Array, their figures disappearing.

Following this, the principal’s Mage Robe rose without any wind.

The principal flew directly to the broken area, slightly raising their head to look at Lu Fan and the five Dragons beside him.

Lu Fan did not neglect his manners, stepping forward and slightly bowing, “Principal.”

The principal nodded and said, “You’ve hidden it quite deeply. Even I did not expect you to have five Dragons.”

Lu Fan smiled slightly and said. “I’m just lucky.”

The principal seemed to chuckle and asked. “You said you would use your full strength, but just now, how much of your actual strength did you use?”
