Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 173, Top Quality Equipment, Underworld Serpent’s Cry

Translator: Silavin

“What’s this…” Lu Fan looked at the black box, not knowing what was inside.

But he could see that this box was definitely quite old, but was of excellent quality. Although it looked weathered and ancient, there was no damage to the box at all.

Tu Jing pointed at the box and said, “It’s a little toy that has accompanied me for many years. It should be just right for you. You can try it and see if it suits you.”

“Don’t just stand there, open it to take a look!”

Lu Fan nodded and obediently opened the box.

Qin Qiu and Jian Ying beside him could not help but lean in, curious about what was inside.

After the box was opened, both girls simultaneously exclaimed in surprise.

Inside the box was a cavalry bow.

This cavalry bow had a very unique design, with creatures that coiled around the upper and lower parts of the bow body that were neither Dragons nor Serpents. Nevertheless, these creatures were too lifelike, as though they really existed.

Their tail curved into an arc, and here, a bowstring emitting a faint white light was tightly strung. One could see at a glance that if one’s Strength Attribute was too low, it would be impossible to draw this bow.

The so-called cavalry bow was actually a special kind of weapon.

There are many types of bows. Among Archers, High Damage Output Second Professions like Arrow Gods prefer longbows, while agile roaming Second Professions like Rangers prefer short bows, or the rarer crossbows.

These three types of weapons are all tailor-made for Archers, and generally, Higher Grade weapons were designed and restricted to be used by Archer Type Professions.

But the cavalry bows were different. The shape of the cavalry bow is very similar to a short bow, but in terms of Profession Requirements, it often was made for Knight Type Professions.

This type of bow allows Knights to gain Range Damage capability while riding. However, although the cavalry bow was a normal weapon, not an Extra Equipment like the Flying Dragon King’s Bone Wings, its drop rate was extremely low, more than ten times lower than crossbows.

Therefore, for Knight Type Players, a cavalry bow, even one with average Attributes, can be considered a Divine Artefact.

Knights have very few methods for Ranged Attacks. Without a Sky Mount, when encountering powerful Players or Monsters, they might only be able to serve as targets. It was only with a cavalry bow that this situation could be changed.

Knights not only gain Ranged Attack capabilities, but can even ride their Mounts, attacking while running around, changing from being Kited to being the one doing the Kiting.

Lu Fan has a Pet Dragon and Dragon Language Magic. He did not actually have much need for a cavalry bow. But when Lu Fan saw the Attributes of this cavalry bow, his heart skipped a beat.

Enchantment Trait: No Level Requirement. Maxed Enchantment!

Lu Fan had never seen such amazing equipment before! [This Underworld Serpent’s Cry is not even a Main Weapon, but an Off-Hand Weapon. The biggest difference between the two is that I would be able to equip the Underworld Serpent’s Cry while also equipping my Black Dragon Scale Greatsword.]

[Even if I can only enjoy 10% of the equipment’s Attribute Boost, this 10% is still a full 100 points of Strength and 90 points of Agility. It is equivalent to having an extra Silver Grade equipment on me!]

[Secondly, as a Level 70 Diamond Grade Equipment, its added Attributes are really high. It surpasses my Black Dragon Scale Greatsword by several hundred points! With this bow, why would I even need to wield my Black Dragon Scale Greatsword to hack and slash anymore? I could just shoot arrows from behind!]

[Not only are the Attributes high, but this cavalry bow also has an Additional Trait and two Additional Skills! Both Additional Skills are similar to Archer Skills, which allows the person equipping it to basically become an Archer!]

[The Additional Trait is what I’m most excited about though. It doesn’t consume arrows! Rather, it relies on my or my Little Dragons to use  their Skills to power this bow to shoot Magic Arrows! If I powered the Magic Arrow with Rage of the Ice Dragon King, would it add the Frostbite Effect to the Magic Arrow? If I powered it with Roar of the Blue Dragon King, would my arrows cause massive damage and have the Paralyse Effect? Then, if I power it using Xing Chen’s Shatter Star… that would be unfathomable!]

Such powerful equipment was obviously regarded as a treasure by Tu Jing. This could be seen from the fact that he enchanted this weapon to have over 500+ more Attributes, and had the No Level Requirement Trait! Just these Enchantments alone must have cost him at least 800 million Dragon Coins.

As for the value of the equipment itself, it was even more immeasurable. Lu Fan estimates that it would rank in the top 15 in the Heavenly Treasure Catalogue, without a doubt.

After a long while, Lu Fan finally came back to his senses and he looked at Tu Jing, a bit incredulously. “Senior, this weapon… is it for me?”

“Of course!” Seeing Lu Fan’s expression, Tu Jing knew that the kid was definitely impressed by this equipment. “Firstly, it’s a meeting gift, and secondly, it’s to help you bring glory to our country in the National Trial. Don’t be so reserved, kid. I’m a military man. I hate wishy-washy behaviour the most. If you like it, just accept it. I don’t want to hear any polite words. My Level is much higher than this bow’s. Although it is good, it doesn’t mean much in my hands now. On the contrary, for you, all its Attributes are excellent. In fact, they should improve your Combat Power by quite a bit.”

Since Tu Jing had said so, Lu Fan smiled and gratefully said, “Thank you very much, Senior. I’ll accept this. Rest assured, I’ll use it to win first place in the National Trial.”

Tu Jing nodded with satisfaction and smiled. “En, that’s the right attitude. If you had insisted on refusing, I would have been unhappy instead.”

“Alright. Since that has been settled, you need to start preparing for the departure. Later, you’ll come with me to the Extremely Far North Ice Plains for a while. When the National Trial is about to begin, I’ll send you back.”

“First, we need to decide when we leave. I have a Transfer Stone on me, which can directly return me back to camp but I have many trivial matters in the Extremely Far North Ice Plains. Although I’ve personally come to Dragon Capital University this time, I can’t stay here for too long. The sooner we set out, the better.”

Lu Fan thought for a moment and said, “Then… can we leave in the afternoon? I have some friends here, and I’d like to say goodbye to them before leaving.”

Tu Jing pondered for a moment and said, “Alright, you should indeed say your farewells. But you need to be quick about it.”

Lu Fan breathed a sigh of relief and smiled, “Don’t worry, Senior, it won’t take long. Why don’t you rest here for now? My Auntie is a cook by trade and can make excellent meals. When she comes back from class later, I’ll have her prepare a table full of dishes for you.”

“Good food? Hahaha, that would be great!” Tu Jing’s eyes lit up at once, and he licked his lips, saying, “Good food is not enough without good alcohol. By the way, do you have any alcohol here?”

Lu Fan scratched his head as he helplessly said. “We actually don’t have any… There are a lot more girls living here, and I myself don’t drink. So, we don’t have any around. How about this, Xiao Qiu will chat with you here about Family matters. In the meantime, I’ll go bid my farewells to my friends, and have Jian Ying go to the University’s market to see if there’s any good alcohol. I’ll have her buy a few bottles for you. How does that sound?”

Hearing this, Tu Jing happily smiled. “That is certainly a fine idea. Thank you for your trouble then. I’ve been in that godforsaken place for so long, today I really want to relax and enjoy myself.”

“Hehe.” Lu Fan smiled and said, “Then please rest here for now. Jian Ying, let’s go.”

Jian Ying made a sound of agreement and left with Lu Fan.

After leaving, Lu Fan and Jian Ying quickly separated. Jian Ying went to buy the alcohol, while Lu Fan went to the second floor of the VIP Arena.

The friend Lu Fan mentioned he wanted to say goodbye to was naturally the Senior Sister.

Lu Fan was about to go to the Extremely Far North Ice Plains, and he probably would not be able to spar with her for the rest of this month. He did not want her to come to the VIP Arena to wait for him, so he had to inform her about this.

Arriving on the second floor, Lu Fan opened a VIP Arena as usual and quietly waited for her to arrive.

After about ten minutes, sure enough, she was teleported in, just like always.

“Why did you open the VIP Arena so early today? Isn’t it time for you to eat? Or, did your Aunt not cook today?” The Senior Sister entered with her arms folded, teasing.

Since she was here, Lu Fan smiled and said, “No, Auntie hasn’t finished class yet, so there’s still some time before we eat.”

“Alright.” The Senior Sister did not pay too much attention to this and rolled up her sleeves, saying, “Shall we start then?”

“We’re not sparring!” Lu Fan said with a smile, “Senior Sister, I didn’t come here to spar with you. I came here to say goodbye.”

“Goodbye? Where are you going?” The Senior Sister blinked her eyes a couple of times, seemingly not understanding why Lu Fan said this.

Lu Fan told her about his impending journey to the Extremely Far North Ice Plains. After listening, she nodded and said, “Going to the Extremely Far North Ice Plains, huh… That’s fine, I guess. Although it’s a barren land, since you’ve decided on it, it might be a good opportunity to go there to train.”

Saying this, she sighed. “It seems like I won’t be seeing you for some time. This period will be quite boring.”

Lu Fan chuckled and said, “It’s alright, Senior Sister. I’ll be back soon. How about I bring you some specialties from the Extremely Far North Ice Plains when I return?”

“Oh, come on. Do you take me for a fool? What specialties could that desolate place possibly have?” The Senior Sister was amused by Lu Fan and rolled her eyes at him.
