Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 152, Deliberately Opposing Me

Translator: Silavin

Lu Fan looked down and saw three people sitting among the general audience – Jin Zhu, Chen Tianzhi, and a familiar-looking woman.

Lu Fan remembered this woman from when he first met Jin Zhu. [She was one of Jin Zhu’s attendants. Secretary Cui… that was what Qin Shanhai had called her. She is most likely Jin Zhu’s personal secretary. Although she rarely accompanied Jin Zhu at Dragon Capital University, she is most likely always with her outside of the University…]

The one who had just bid was Jin Zhu herself. Lu Fan had not expected to encounter Jin Zhu here again, and it was clear she was also after the No Level Requirement Enchantment Scroll.

Ever since their match, Jin Zhu and Chen Tianzhi had kept a low profile and had not dared show themselves in front of Lu Fan. This was the first time Lu Fan had seen them in nearly half a month.

At this moment, the Senior Sister also slowly walked up, following Lu Fan’s gaze to see Jin Zhu. “So, the Princess Jin from Extremistis Country also wants this Enchantment Scroll too?”

Lu Fan turned his head to look at her in surprise. “Senior Sister, you know Jin Zhu as well?”

Senior Sister replied nonchalantly, “Of course I know her. Didn’t she and Chen Tianzhi participate in the freshmen exam together? And in that match against you, they got obliterated.”

Lu Fan pondered for a moment, then suspiciously asked, “Senior Sister, why do I feel like you know so much about my affairs?”

She gave Lu Fan a sidelong glance, her expression revealing nothing. “Don’t flatter yourself, I just have good sources of information. I’ve heard that this Little Princess brought a lot of money with her to our Dragon Country. If she has set her sights on this Enchantment Scroll, I might have to spend a bit more.”

“But…” Although the Senior Sister said that, her tone was still very confident, “I’m determined to get it. So, no one else can have it!” With that, she picked up the tablet and directly added another 100 million.

The Senior Sister’s and Jin Zhu’s consecutive bids raised the price by 170 million, with no one else present daring to continue bidding.

This item was ultimately just an Enchantment Scroll. It was not an equipment, so no one would offer an absurdly high price to get it. Moreover, the two people bidding now were clearly resolute, and this price war may have only just begun.

Sure enough, as the Senior Sister added another 100 million to her bid, the host’s emotions visibly heightened. “Amazing! The guest in VIP Box 8 has now bid 400 million Dragon Coins! Is there anyone else who wants to continue bidding!?”

“This is an extremely rare No Level Requirement Enchantment Scroll. Even Divine Artefacts with a Level Requirement of 100 can be enchanted by it. It would allow even newly Profession Changed Players wield an invaluable treasure. It is the perfect item to help cultivate the younger generation! Once you miss this opportunity, you might not see another one in Dragon Capital for years. Everyone, you absolutely cannot miss this chance!”

The host was doing his utmost to praise this auction item to the Heavens, trying to get everyone to bid.

But at this point, everyone had been intimidated by the 100 million increase, how could they dare to continue bidding?

Only Jin Zhu, among the general audience below, looked extremely displeased at the 400 million bid price.

A couple days ago, Jin Zhu’s Older Brother, Jin Chenghan, had gotten two identical weapons from a Dungeon Instance Clear Reward. He had Secretary Cui bring one of them over, intending to give Jin Zhu some encouragement to Level Up quickly so she could equip it.

It was a level 60 Platinum Grade staff, which Jin Chenghan had recently obtained while Levelling Up and clearing Dungeon Instances. Its Attributes were extremely high. Even Jin Chenghan, hailed as the number one Player among Extremistis Country’s younger generation, was using it.

Jin Zhu was enamoured with this staff, but unfortunately her Level was still far too low. She had not even undergone her Second Profession Change yet, let alone be able to equip a staff meant for Third Profession Players.

So, when she heard today that there was a No Level Requirement Enchantment Scroll being auctioned, she immediately brought Chen Tianzhi and Secretary Cui to bid for it.

Jin Zhu had indeed brought a lot of money on this trip to Dragon Country, exchanging a full 500 million Dragon Coins. Spending 300 million to buy a scroll did not hurt her at all.

She felt that the Attributes and Additional Traits of the staff were really too perfect for her. If she could equip it now, her strength would increase by leaps and bounds. By then, perhaps she could bring out even greater power from Chen Tianzhi and the Earth Dragon!

Originally, she thought 300 million Dragon Coins would be enough to secure this scroll. But, just as the host was about to bring down the gavel, someone raised the price by a full 100 million!

This made Jin Zhu extremely annoyed. If they were in Extremistis Country, she would have already disrupted the auction and dragged out the person in that VIP Box competing with her. She would personally ensure that they were taught a good lesson.

But in Dragon Country, after being beaten up twice by Lu Fan, she had become much more restrained. She knew she had to control her temper here.

Seeing the host had already struck the first hammer, Jin Zhu weighed her options and decided she absolutely had to get this scroll.

“450 million!” Jin Zhu directly called out her final price.

She needed 50 million for her expenses in Dragon Country. If the other party bid again, she would have no choice but to give up.

However, almost as soon as her price was called out, the VIP Box upstairs immediately raised the bid, “500 million!”

Jin Zhu’s face instantly turned ashen. At this price, she had no way for her to continue bidding. Moreover, seeing how decisively the other party had bid, it was clear that even if she continued, they would just continue to outbid her.

Watching the scroll that was almost in her grasp being snatched away by someone willing to pay any price, Jin Zhu felt like her chest was about to burst into flames! She angrily stood up and turned her head to look up, wanting to see who exactly was so bold as to compete with her.

As she turned to look at the so-called VIP Box 8, she happened to see Lu Fan standing by the window.

Likewise, Lu Fan noticed Jin Zhu’s gaze turn towards him, and their eyes met from afar.

Lu Fan did not try to avoid it and he gave Jin Zhu a small smile.

This somewhat mocking smile nearly drove Jin Zhu mad with rage.

Chen Tianzhi also noticed something was off and stood up to see Lu Fan.

Seeing Lu Fan again, Chen Tianzhi clearly still had lingering fears. He immediately lowered his head, not daring to meet Lu Fan’s gaze, while saying to Jin Zhu: “Princess, how is he in VIP Box 8…?”

“That bastard! He’s deliberately opposing me, isn’t he!? Why is he still trying to snatch away the Enchantment Scroll that I want when I haven’t provoked him for so long!?” Jin Zhu’s teeth were audibly grinding, her chest heaving up and down.

Lu Fan of course had no interest in deliberately targeting her, it was all just a coincidence. However, in Jin Zhu’s eyes, this was exactly what Lu Fan was doing.

Jin Zhu already disliked Lu Fan, now she wished she could kill him.

Chen Tianzhi saw this and felt distressed. He opened his mouth to comfort her. “Princess, please don’t be angry, it’s bad for your health…”

“If you weren’t so useless, would I be in this situation where I can only seethe in silence!?” Jin Zhu naturally directed all her anger at Chen Tianzhi.

Chen Tianzhi silently endured it, already used to this. He dared not even argue back.

Jin Zhu took several deep breaths to alleviate the tightness in her chest, then angrily left her seat.

Chen Tianzhi and Secretary Cui hurried to catch up. Secretary Cui concernedly asked. “Your Highness, where are you going?”

Jin Zhu did not look back as she angrily cursed. “We can’t get that damn Enchantment Scroll now. So, what else is there to do but leave!? Go get my phone! I need to call my Brother! He said he is coming to Dragon Country to see me, why hasn’t he arrived yet? His darling Sister is being bullied like this! How can he sit still in Extremistis Country!? When he gets here, I’ll have him vent all the anger I’ve suffered on that bloody bastard!”

In the VIP Box, Lu Fan saw Jin Zhu angrily leave her seat. He smiled and then sat back down.

He did not care about this little interlude with Jin Zhu. At this point, because the Senior Sister’s bid was too high, Jin Zhu had withdrawn from the competition. Thus, Lu Fan ended up winning the Enchantment Scroll, bringing this auction to a close.

Soon after, there was a knock on the VIP Box door. After the Senior Sister gave permission, a middle-aged beautiful woman entered with two auction house staff.

This middle-aged woman looked to be in her early thirties and was very well-maintained. She also wore a cheongsam, which accentuated her voluptuous figure, exuding mature charm. Moreover, she clearly knew this Senior Sister. As soon as she entered, she smiled and said: “I was wondering which wealthy patron had come to my auction house, willing to pay a 500 million premium for a single Enchantment Scroll. So, it was you.”

“Hehe.” The Senior Sister stood up to greet her, smiling broadly, “Sister-in-law, I’m sorry for not letting you know I was coming.”

The middle-aged beauty laughed. “You really should have given me a heads up. If I had known you were coming, I would have had someone send you whatever you wanted. Why bother spending money?”

The Senior Sister waved her hand while smiling: “If you gave me whatever I wanted every time I came, I’m afraid the entire auction house would have been emptied out.”

“You…” The middle-aged beauty helplessly laughed. She turned her gaze to Lu Fan. “And this is…?”

“Him? He’s a student at Dragon Capital University, Lu Fan,” The Senior Sister introduced. “Today’s Enchantment Scroll has been bought for him.”

“Oh…” The middle-aged beauty revealed a meaningful smile for some reason.

This made the Senior Sister’s face flush slightly as she hurriedly explained: “He’s my newly adopted Little Brother. I made a bet with him before, saying if I lost I’d give him a gift.”

“Hehe, well, why do you need to explain so much? That’s between you two, right? I don’t want to know too much. Xiao Wu, give the item to this young man.” The middle-aged beauty merely smiled without asking further, which actually made the Senior Sister’s explanation really seem over the top.

One of the staff members behind the middle-aged beauty came forward with a tray, on which lay the No Level Requirement Enchantment Scroll.

Lu Fan picked it up, his heart full of joy. [With this, I will now be able to equip the Flying Dragon King’s Bone Wings.]

At this time, the Senior Sister had also taken out a Purple Orchid Card and swiped it on a Payment Terminal held by the other staff member.

The middle-aged beauty took this opportunity to casually chat. “By the way, Xian’er, do you have any new items that could be added to our auction house’s Treasure Catalogue? If you have any exceptional items, don’t be stingy. Once they’re added, the rewards our auction house gives will be extremely generous.”
