Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 174, Another Underworld Profession

Translator: Silavin

“Well… How about I bring you a piece of Never-Melting Ice?” Lu Fan had read that occasionally, Never-Melting Ice could be extracted from the bodies of Monsters in the Extremely Far North Ice Plains.

This substance was not only a good material for crafting equipment, but it was also as beautiful as a gem. It was crystal clear and gorgeous to look at. Sometimes it was also polished into jewellery, without any Attributes. Just for its appearance alone, it was very popular among girls.

Hearing that Lu Fan wanted to bring her a piece of Never-Melting Ice, the Senior Sister smiled so widely her eyes curved into cute crescents as she said. “Never-Melting Ice? That would be great. But this material can’t be extracted from all Monsters. It won’t be easy for you to find a piece for me.”

Lu Fan patted his chest and said. “It doesn’t matter if it’s not easy. If you want it, Senior Sister, I’ll go kill Monsters every day until I find a piece to bring back to you!”

Lu Fan’s words touched her.

She was stunned for a moment, then smiled and shook her head. “How silly… You’re not going to the Extremely Far North Ice Plains specifically to find a piece of Never-Melting Ice for me. If you have the chance, bring me a piece. If not, it’s fine. It’s enough for you to come back safely.”

“En, I understand, Senior Sister.” Lu Fan smiled.

He looked at the time and said. “Senior Sister, I can’t chat with you further. Senior Tu is still waiting for me in Villa No. 2, so I’ll head back now.”

“En, go ahead.” The Senior Sister said, unable to help sighing.

This farewell meant they would not see each other for a month.

Lu Fan was also quite reluctant to leave. He forced a smile, then turned around, about to open the Transport Array to leave this place.

At this moment.

“Wait.” The Senior Sister softly called out. Before Lu Fan could turn around, he felt her walk up behind him, lightly pressing against his back, as if hugging him. But her hand had somehow produced a red string, which she tied around his left wrist.

The last time he was this close to her was when he flew her back to Dragon Capital University.

This time, she took the initiative to hug him from behind, making him feel stiff all over, his heart rate increasing.

She intimately helped him put on the red string, then gently rested her cheek against Lu Fan’s back, softly saying. “Wear this. It’s for good luck. You’re leaving in such a hurry so I don’t have anything else to give you. When you come back, I’ll have a surprise prepared for you.”

“Take care in the Extremely Far North Ice Plains and the National Trial!” After saying this, the Senior Sister released Lu Fan and stepped back.

Just as Lu Fan was about to turn around and call out to her, he found that she had already retreated into a Transport Array that had been opened at some unknown time, leaving this place.

Lu Fan felt empty inside. He smiled bitterly and helplessly, raising his hand to look.

The red string on his hand was very simple, just an ordinary woven item, not even an equipment. Naturally it had no Attributes.

The material of the red string was quite sturdy though. Lu Fan would not even be able to break it even in battle. Moreover, a strand of hair had been woven into the red string.

[Is this Senior Sister’s hair?] Lu Fan did not understand the meaning behind it, but the red string emitted a clean fragrance of Senior Sister’s scent, which was quite pleasant.

Lu Fan accepted this token of affection. He soon left the VIP Arena, planning to return to Villa No. 2. [Looking at the time, Auntie should have already returned to the villa. After having lunch together with them, I guess I am ready to go to the Extremely Far North Ice Plains with Senior Tu.]

On the way back to Villa No. 2, just as Lu Fan was about to push the door open to enter, a familiar voice suddenly came from behind, “Lu Fan, stop right there!”

Lu Fan turned his head to look, and sure enough, it was Jin Zhu.

Besides Jin Zhu, there was also Chen Tianzhi beside her, and a man with a gloomy aura and a cold smile whom Lu Fan did not recognise.

However, Lu Fan did not pay much attention to him.

“What is it? Need something from me?” Lu Fan glanced at the three of them, not intending to engage with them. He would much rather spend whatever precious time he had left with his Aunt and the others.

With Jin Chenghan backing her up, Jin Zhu’s speech reverted to her previous arrogance, and she angrily chided, “Nonsense, would I come looking for you if not for something I want?”

“If you have something to say, then say it. If not, get lost. I don’t have time to deal with you.” Lu Fan impatiently said.

“You still dare to be so arrogant!?” Jin Zhu was furious, but she soon thought about how arrogant Lu Fan was now and how miserable he would be in a moment. A cold smile appeared on her face, “Didn’t I say before, during the freshmen exam, that everything you did to me, I would pay back double once my Big Brother comes? Hehe, my Big Brother is here today! It’s time to fulfil what I said before!”

“I remember very clearly, you slapped me six times in total. Today, I want my Big Brother to slap you six hundred times!” Saying this, Jin Zhu turned to look at Jin Chenghan and said, “It’s him who bullied me. Hurry up and beat him up to vent my anger!”

Jin Chenghan did not say a word. He slowly walked forward, cold eyes fixing on Lu Fan.

Instantly, Lu Fan felt like he was being stared at by a venomous snake. He immediately sensed that this person was definitely an expert Player.

However, Lu Fan had nothing to fear. After all, judging from his appearance and age, he was probably not a Player who had gone through his Fourth Profession Change. As long as he was not a Fourth Profession Player, Lu Fan knew he had nothing to be wary of.

[This Jin Zhu. We are still on campus yet you dare bring your Brother here to cause trouble. Aren’t you just digging your own grave at this point? But, I have to say, they are really lucky. If Senior Tu had not dealt with the guards earlier, these two would most likely have been apprehended by now…]

Of course, Jin Chenghan and Jin Zhu were completely unaware of all this.

Jin Chenghan licked his upper lip, came to Jin Zhu’s side, and looked at Lu Fan saying. “So, you’re the Dragon Tamer from Dragon Country? I hear you’re strong. But, having dared to offend my precious Little Sister, I certainly can’t let you off lightly. Now, I’ll give you a chance. Be obedient and come over here to let my Little Sister slap you back, and the previous matters can be written off.”

“That’s right!” Jin Zhu said smugly, raising her chin. “Otherwise, my Big Brother can make you beg for life but not get it, and beg for death but not achieve it!”

Lu Fan rubbed his nose and smiled. “Saying such things outside of your own country. Are all you from Extremistis Country so brainless? Jin Zhu, do you remember what happened last time when you said the same thing in Jianghai City?”

The old matter being brought up again made Jin Zhu’s face immediately fall. She was so angry her chest heaved up and down. She looked at Jin Chenghan and said, “Brother, look at him! He still dares to mock me! This bastard doesn’t know how powerful you really are! There’s no point talking to him anymore! Just beat him up!”

Jin Chenghan nodded and said, “Alright.”

As he spoke, a staff appeared in his hand, and then he tapped the ground. He immediately conjured out a Summoning Array in front of him.

Lu Fan narrowed his eyes. [A Summoner Type Profession? By the looks of it, like Jin Zhu, he must also have a Hidden Profession.]

Lu Fan came to this conclusion because, after the Summoning Array formed, countless black mists steamed outwards. It clearly showed how the other end of the Summoning Array was connected to some kind of unsavoury place.

As Jin Chenghan’s Summon walked out from the Summoning Array, it further confirmed Lu Fan’s thoughts.

[This Summon… seems to be related to the Underworld…]

It was a Monster as large as a house. As for its appearance, it looked like a person crawling on the ground, all black and purple, emitting black mist. At the same time, it had eight pairs of limbs that looked like both hands and feet. Its large head had no eyes, only two nostrils, and a mouth large enough to split the entire head in two.

This Summon did not resemble any Monster that Lu Fan knew of, and it had Human characteristics, which made it even more strange to look at. It certainly instilled a sense of fear from the bottom of one’s heart.

Lu Fan could not help but think back on Jin Zhu’s Hidden Profession. Although she had many Skills that Buffed her allies, the people or Pets she Buffed would all turn into terrifying Monsters and suffer horrendous levels of pain.

Jin Zhu’s Hidden Profession was already ominous enough, but unexpectedly, her Big Brother was even more ominous, able to casually Summoning such a monstrosity.

Lu Fan’s face inevitably showed a trace of disgust. However, he had to admit that, judging solely from the sense of pressure he felt, this Summon was extraordinary.

Jin Zhu’s claim that her Big Brother was the strongest Player among the younger generation of her Country was definitely not an exaggeration.

Jin Chenghan looked at his Summons, his eyes flashing with a bright light, as if he was looking at some peerless beauty. His expression of admiration did not seem faked in the slightest. He stepped forward and gently stroked this Hellish Summon twice, then said, “Abyss Crawler, go grab that guy for me.”

*Roar!* The Summon called Abyss Crawler opened its huge mouth and roared, immediately spraying countless dark green saliva, making Lu Fan feel nauseous.

The Abyss Crawler quickly approached Lu Fan, all eight limbs moving at once. Its speed was completely disproportionate to its huge body.

As it approached Lu Fan, the Abyss Crawler’s big mouth also opened up. At the same time, its head twisted at a strange angle, aiming that saliva-dripping big mouth at Lu Fan.

Lu Fan’s eyes narrowed slightly, initially wanting to use Dragon Fang Strike to test this Summons’ capabilities.

However, at this moment, a cry suddenly came from the sky.

This cry sounded very much like an eagle, but it was more rugged and wild than an eagle’s cry.

Before Lu Fan could look up to see what had appeared in the sky, he saw a large net emanating cold frost falling from above, accurately enveloping the Abyss Crawler.

The Abyss Crawler had not even reached Lu Fan when it was scooped up by this large net and pulled into mid-air.

Lu Fan was extremely surprised. Looking up, he saw that it was a huge Griffin that had taken action.

This Griffin was obviously different from ordinary Monster Griffins that Lu Fan had seen in textbooks. Its fur and feathers were aqua blue, looking as if it was carved from ice. It was exquisite.

Its hind claws were dragging that frost-covered large net, tightly controlling the Abyss Crawler. No matter how much this Hellish creature struggled, it could not escape.
