Chapter 1200: Chapter 405: Assault_4

Otherwise, if something really goes wrong, I’d have a hard time explaining to my lord.

“Ladies, the other party is likely cultists. Shouldn’t we immediately notify Lord Rein?” After being attacked, Olena naturally wouldn’t consider going to the camp alone again.

Originally, the two women who were eyeing each other seemed to have their attention diverted by this question and immediately nodded.

…

Half an hour later, Rein, Luther, and Halowin, who received the message, quickly flew back to the mansion.

Before Rein landed, he noticed that apart from Lagaray, Cleya, whom he hadn’t seen in a long time, was also on the mansion’s open ground.

He was immediately startled in his heart, could it be…

“Ahem… Cleya, you’ve come to the Imperial City, why didn’t you tell me?” Jumping off the Horned Owl Beast, Rein first greeted Cleya.

“Rein, long time no see. I haven’t been in the Imperial City for long. I’ve been consolidating my strength, and I only found out yesterday that you’re here too.” Cleya smiled slightly and said.

“Miss Cleya, long time no see.” Halowin bowed slightly upon seeing Cleya and said.

As the most promising offspring of the Duke of Minter’s family, he was naturally familiar with Cleya, the talented female knight also from Minter.

“Lord Halowin, good day.” Cleya curtsied like a lady and said.

“Lagaray, thank you.” Rein said.

“Mm.” With outsiders present, the barbarian girl didn’t say much, just nodded.

He was initially worried about whether Lagaray and Cleya might not get along…

After all, unlike with Anna, Lagaray and Cleya were not familiar with each other.

Moreover, one was a genius female knight, and the other was a rare barbarian female warrior. If they started comparing strengths, that would truly be a ‘battlefield of love’.

Luckily, for now, it seemed that there were no conflicts between the two.

“Lady Olena, are you all right?” Rein went to Olena’s side and comforted her.

“I’m fine, Lord Rein. Thanks to the timely help from the two ladies, otherwise, I’d be…”

“This is my fault. You came to the Imperial Headquarters, and some matters were difficult to speak about. Also, I was too assured of the Imperial City’s security.” Rein felt a bit guilty and said.

In fact, it wasn’t really Rein’s fault; the Imperial City Tamriel had strict checks, and there were devices like witchcraft detectors. Wizards of unknown origin would undergo focused checks, breath detection, and other inspections.

Because those cultists, once they’ve participated in a prayer ritual of some Divine, would more or less carry the special aura of that Divine.

Of course, all checks have loopholes.

Because if someone had just joined a cult and hadn’t yet participated in specific cult rituals, and was not a wizard, it would be challenging to detect them.

This is also why the two cultists earlier were walking the Knight Path.

Also, there’s a high probability that the two had recently joined the cult, and their aura was still rather pure.

“Uh… Lord Rein, it was my own carelessness.” Olena quickly waved her hand and said.

Knowing the unwritten rules within the system, Olena naturally wouldn’t let her superior bear this responsibility.

“By the way, Lord Rein, I came because I received urgent intelligence from Major General Tatia, saying that the Secret Snake Sect dispatched ‘Twin Snakes’ among the Twelve Secret Snake Envoys to infiltrate around the Imperial City.”

“According to the intelligence hall’s analysis, their target is seventy percent likely you.”

Upon hearing Olena’s words, everyone present, including Cleya and Halowin, who were exchanging pleasantries, shut their mouths, focusing their gaze on Rein.

Although they were not clear about the strength of the ‘Twin Snakes,’ since it was an urgent intelligence from the Sword Holder Headquarters, the strength of these two should be formidable, formidable enough for Rein to pay attention.

“Oh? Do we have specific intelligence on these two?” Rein raised an eyebrow and asked.

“Yes, Lord Rein, I have already collected it for you.” Olena said as she handed over a document to Rein.

Rein nodded, took it, and began to read.

Rein was quite satisfied with Olena as a liaison, given her rich work experience and fairly harmonious cooperation with him. Essentially, she could anticipate and prepare for his ideas in advance.

At this time, a young man dressed in Sword Bearer’s attire suddenly approached the mansion’s entrance, and after slightly bowing to Rein and Olena, said:

“Lord Rein, Lady Olena, although the two assassins have committed suicide, we’ve basically confirmed their identity; they should be members of the Black Flame Cult.”

“Black Flame Cult?” Rein frowned slightly.

It seems like the consequences of the Conservative Party nobles leaking his task details within the Sword Bearer have begun to slowly manifest.

Now, already two cult organizations have sought him out.

Perhaps, soon, other cult organizations will come knocking, like the Sea God Sect and so on.

He himself naturally doesn’t fear, but the problem lies in the safety of his family and friends…

This thought spurred Rein’s notion that although personal strength is the foundation, it is still necessary to establish some forces. Without mentioning anything else, at least the safety of family and friends can be thoroughly taken care of.

For example, if cultists found out Cleya’s relationship with him and attacked the Habs family residence far away in Meister, he couldn’t teleport over instantly to resolve the crisis.

This wasn’t the first time Rein had thought of this.

But before this, Rein believed that an individual’s energy is limited and it’s impossible to both enhance strength and build a power base simultaneously.

Even the guild set up on Jennifer’s side was more of a business association and not entirely akin to the kind of power base he was referring to. Or, one could say, a business association was merely a small component of a power base.

Speaking of Cleya, a flash of lightning suddenly struck through Rein’s mind.

Oh yeah! I can totally have Cleya spearhead this endeavor!

And as for him, he just needs to focus on constantly improving his strength.

…
