Chapter 548: Chapter 238: Became a Sponsored Student (Combined Double Chapter)

However, Jenny and Agatha thought about it and decided to visit Lord Reine.

After all, the term “Hammer” in “Hammer and Rose Commerce Group” represents “Baron Reine,” though nominally, the Crowley family is the largest shareholder.

But the two of them knew very well that actually Lord Reine was the largest shareholder, so regardless of whether the business affairs went smoothly or not, they should inform Lord Reine.

Thus, the two women took advantage of the sunset that had not yet completely fallen and rode in a carriage to the majestic Imperial Sword Bearer Mingster Branch entrance.

However, as soon as they reached the entrance, both of them were startled by the bustling scene; they saw a dozen luxurious carriages queuing at the entrance in an orderly fashion.

Whenever a carriage reached the gate, a person dressed like a butler would alight, hand over the invitation to the guard at the gate, say a few words, then get back on the carriage and quickly leave.

Naturally, the next carriage would take its place and repeat the process.

The two women exchanged a look, seeing surprise and confusion in each other’s eyes.

It didn’t seem like it was just the end of an assessment now, did it?

After all, no one was being picked up by the carriages.

It was simply a matter of a butler getting off, handing over one or several invitations to the guard, and then leaving.

Moreover, looking at the noble crests on the carriages lined up before her, Jenny noticed that each was different, obviously belonging to different noble families.

This made her even more curious!

As the carriages drove off one by one, Jenny and Agatha’s carriage, following the flow, slowly moved forward; soon, the two women could clearly hear what the butler from the carriage ahead was saying:

“…please hand this invitation over to Baron Reine from Meister, and this one to Miss Evelyn from the Rosby region….”

“Alright,” the guard raised an eyebrow, nodded, and said.

But he couldn’t help but linger a little longer on the words “Baron Reine” on the invitation.

The guard was surprised too!

Usually, at the end of a Sword Bearer assessment, those who passed the assessment would naturally gain the admiration of many nobles from the provincial city.

But it was rare to see a situation like the current one.

The invitations were mostly concentrated for one individual.

This Lord Reine from Meister must have received at least thirty invitations that afternoon, right?

He couldn’t quite understand what Lord Reine had done

to cause so many provincial nobles to eagerly invite him.

And when the women, who faintly heard words like “Meister” and “Reine,” exchanged a look of surprise and almost simultaneously said:

“Jenny (Agatha), did you hear that?”

The two nodded at each other!

As the butler from the next carriage approached, the two heard even more clearly.

This time, the butler only left one invitation, specifying it was for Baron Reine and not anyone else; moreover, this butler hailed from the Count Plank family.

A family of earls from the provincial city, surely their status was not less than that of Count Habs from Meister? The two women couldn’t help but marvel!

Instantly, Jenny and Agatha became even more puzzled and curious.

How had Lord Reine, who had just arrived in the provincial city, already received so many invitations from various nobles?

Even if he had passed the Sword Bearer assessment, that still didn’t explain it!

After all, it wasn’t just him who had passed; on their way here, they had heard that the rate of passing was about thirty to forty percent.

…

Just as the two women were puzzled and bewildered,

Reine was walking with Vinica along the main thoroughfare of the city—Levenworth Street, ascending the steps.

The two gradually reached a position near the mountaintop.

In front of them appeared two towering, domed buildings; according to the citizens nearby, one was the Governor’s official residence, and the other was the Grand Cathedral of the Monsoon and Marine Goddess Church.

Clearly, as the highest administrative officer of the entire Mingster Province, it was only natural that the Duke of Mingster’s workplace occupied the city’s best location.

Further up was the Griffon Platform, guarded strictly every five steps with a post every ten steps.

Since Reine and Vinica were here to take in the sights of Mingster, they naturally did not reveal their identities and venture to these places.

The two stopped by a public viewing platform nearby, which offered a vast view of the entire plain—a splendid sight.

Finding a secluded corner, Vinica, rather than sitting on the bench, playfully went ahead, performed a Hydroflow spell, and washed the platform’s overhanging edge.

Reine, however, merely smiled slightly, instantly understanding Vinica’s intention; he too murmured a chant, exercised the witchcraft Scorching Touch, and gently passed his hand over the freshly rinsed area.

Instantly, the freshly cleaned surface dried up.

Thus, the two sat down there, their legs dangling over the outside of the viewing platform, Vinica gently leaning against Reine, both of them wordlessly watching the sunset slowly set over the vast plains, the winding river stretching far into the distance…

…

Having waited eagerly and finally, after nightfall, Jenny and Agatha saw Reine and Vinica strolling over leisurely.

Jenny couldn’t help but grumble, “Lord Reine, we’ve been anxiously waiting, and here you are, flirting.”

Seeing the two women waiting under the streetlight, Reine couldn’t help but look surprised and said, “Jenny, Agatha, is there something urgent?”
