Chapter 519: Chapter 230 Arrival (Two in One Mega Chapter)_4

“After taking the Divine Blood, it indeed had an effect!”

Actually, for the Black Flame Church, it didn’t matter whether these nobles were alive or dead, they had all taken Divine Blood, and if they died, their bodies would become the best ‘fertilizer,’ thus enhancing the effectiveness of the prayer ritual!

If they were alive, they would be transformed by a sliver of the God of Hunting’s Will after the ceremony ended, becoming the best enforcers!

The high priest looked at Alonzo’s current state and was very satisfied.

Rein watched this scene without a hint of sympathy.

These foolish nobility had actually colluded with the Cult, and to him, their backlash was only a matter of time.

Having undergone a significant transformation into a birdman, Alonzo’s strength soared to the level of a Great Knight. His eyes were pitch-black, as if the whites had been devoured. With a flap of his wings, he sped towards Rein in an attack!

“O great God of Hunting above, your humble and devout follower begs for your divine bounty…”

Just as Rein focused his attention on the birdman Alonzo coming at him, the heavily injured high priest smiled and began to chant a low prayer.

In an instant, an indescribable, terrible presence descended!

….

—————–

A few minutes earlier.

At this time, just having arrived above Meist County City and still in rapid flight, the fierce creature that was a griffin was suddenly noticed by its rider, a burly man with a shield; his expression changed as he quickly pulled out something resembling a compass and stared at it.

The numbers on it kept climbing!

“Eh, why is this demonic energy fluctuation so strong? Could it be that the Cult’s ritual has already started?”

“This is earlier than expected!”

He had thought he had ample time and was planning to greet the Governor of the County Town, but it seemed there was no time for that now.

The shield-backed burly man glanced at Meist County City sparkling with lights below him, gave the reins a heavy shake, and the griffin let out a loud cry and changed direction, speeding toward the source of the demonic energy.

Almost simultaneously.

When Rudolph arrived at the entrance to Baron Elliot’s estate with a group of elite knights from the Sacred Order, they were blocked by the estate’s butler leading a team of fully armed guards.

The butler recognized Rudolph and the knights of the Sacred Order on sight because their attire was too distinctive.

“Esteemed guests from the Church of the Goddess, I’m sorry, but this is a noble’s private residence. Without an invitation, I must go and report to my master first,” said the butler.

“We have detected the presence of demonic energy emanating from this estate, and we must inspect it immediately!” Rudolph said gravely.

“Stand aside!”

At that moment, suddenly, Alonzo’s butler Michel emerged from the estate, smiled as he came up to Rudolph.

“Chancellor Rudolph, what brings you here?”

“Baron Alonzo is inside too! The demonic energy you mentioned must be a misconception, there are many of us here and we haven’t sensed anything amiss!” Michel defended.

Rudolph was taken aback to see Michel present.

He naturally knew that Alonzo, as Count Habs’s eldest son, was now weighing his options quickly.

But the next second, he realized that Rein might be in danger, and if he continued to waste time here, there was no telling how much longer it would take.

He was about to scold the other party when suddenly a high and majestic screech came from the sky!

A mighty creature with the body of a lion and the head of an eagle, boasting enormous wings, descended from the sky!

“A griffin!” Rudolph, with his extensive knowledge, recognized the creature at once.

You see, griffins in the Dragan Empire are second only to giant dragons as flying mounts, ridden only by top-level nobility and members of certain elite departments.

Indeed, as the griffin landed, two figures also leapt off its back.

The shield-bearing burly man glanced at Rudolph and the knights of the Sacred Order, then at the butler and guards stopping them, and immediately understood the situation.

The burly man approached Rudolph and said, “Esteemed Chancellor of the Church of the Goddess, are you also handling Cult affairs?”

“Yes, sir,” Rudolph nodded gravely and quickly briefed him on the situation.

Of course, he emphasized the obstruction by the butler and others present!

The burly man then pulled out a badge from his chest and showed it around, saying, “You must cooperate immediately! When the Sword Bearers act, not only you, but even if your master were uncooperative, we have the right to kill on the spot!”

Michel and the butler exchanged looks, at a loss for what to do!

They knew things had escalated!

The reputation of the Empire’s Sword Bearers was well known; of course, they had heard of it!

Immediately, they dared not block any further and watched as the two from the Sword Bearers and Rudolph’s party entered.

Just as Rudolph and his party were crossing the corridor, suddenly, without the need for the ‘Golden Compass,’ they could clearly feel the ground slightly trembling beneath them, followed by an overwhelming burst of evil energy that erupted like a flood!

The intensity immediately caused Rudolph and all of the Sacred Order knights to turn pale!

“Not good! The ritual is about to be completed!”

“Hurry! Speed up!”

When the group arrived at the conference room, they saw a huge hole in the ground, and above it, a black energy shield shaped like an upside-down large bowl hovered.

And below, a giant magical array was faintly visible, along with the sounds of intense fighting!

Seeing this scene, Rudolph was shocked!

“This… is this the lair of the Black Flame Cult?”

Rudolph quickly realized why the demonic energy fluctuation here was so intense!

It turned out that this was not just an important stronghold of the Black Flame Cult; it was their lair!

Rudolph immediately turned to a knight from the Sacred Order and said, “Go report to Bishop Shion immediately, tell him we’ve discovered the Black Flame Cult’s lair!”

Just as Rudolph was about to use a high-level Divine Arts scroll to blast open the black energy barrier, suddenly, an indescribable fear spread among everyone present.

“This… this is the Will of a deity…”

“Too late! Rein is done for!”
