Chapter 547: Chapter 237: The Siege Hammer from Meister! (2-in-1 Mega Chapter)_4

“….”

The assessment ended.

Having both passed the Imperial Sword Bearer assessment, Rein and Vinica naturally wanted to have a good look around Mingster.

Thus, by evening that day, they found themselves on Mingster’s main thoroughfare.

The entire city was built along the mountainside, with its overall exterior walls mainly constructed from white, oblong stone blocks. The architectural style bore a hint of the Baroque from a past era, featuring a profusion of domes, archways, and reliefs.

As the sun set, drenched in golden light, it was stunningly beautiful.

The main road could be seen winding its way up from the base of the mountain towards the mid-way point, meandering effortlessly, hence the gradient was not steep.

Meanwhile, at intervals along the route, there would be platforms, which might become home to large fountains or small garden squares, and occasionally a theater could be found.

Among the passersby, their clothes were colorful, and most had rosy cheeks, full of spirit.

At this moment, walking along the roadside, Rein vaguely heard the sound of hammering from a forge somewhere close by.

“Eh? This rhythm…

“Doesn’t seem like it’s man-powered!”

He couldn’t help but stop and looked towards where the sound was coming from.

He saw to his front right, across the street, a large blacksmith shop, and in the backyard of this shop, there was a massive waterwheel. It seemed to use the water flowing downward from the mountain’s height to turn the wheel.

The highly regular sound of hammering haunting him, Rein immediately realized that it must be coming from a mechanical apparatus driven by the waterwheel and not human strength.

Curious, Rein led Vinica towards the blacksmith shop to take a look.

Sure enough, it was water-powered forging!

An insight into the larger picture.

Rein hadn’t expected that the blacksmith shops in Mingster had already begun utilizing water power for forging on a large scale.

In this way, aside from some high-end weapons, the quality of a vast amount of lower-grade weaponry, agricultural implements, and iron domestic utensils would see a significant improvement.

This indicated that the forging level in Mingster was far superior to Meister.

It inadvertently made Rein think of his own path as an armor forger in the next phase.

It was likely that he could find some leads in Mingster’s prosperous blacksmithing industry.

…..

While Rein and Vinica were enjoying the sights of Mingster, Jenny and Agatha walked out of a trading association with furrowed brows and worried faces.

For three consecutive days, they had hit a wall!

It was difficult to conduct business in Mingster. Shops in fine locations or favorable districts had been established for decades, even centuries, and were well-known, longstanding businesses.

Some industries like blacksmithing and tailoring had shops that had essentially reached a stable status.

As for the backgrounds of these shops, Jenny had done some research. Essentially, behind the shops on the main streets lurked the shadow of nobility, and some were directly owned by noble families.

The trouble was that in the provincial capital of Mingster, it was all too easy to hit a Baron with a thrown brick!

As for Lords and Knights, they were as plentiful as hairs on an ox…..

Therefore, the backing of the Crowley family behind Jenny and the Wigging family behind Agatha seemed insignificant.

In the past few days, as they sought out potential partners in Mingster and mentioned the background of the Hammer and Rose Association, hearing it was run by two Baron families?

They would just shake their heads, clearly a bit disdainful….

If these two Baron families happened to come from the county of Meister?

Then, sorry, please take the door to the right…

Barons from other counties, sorry, in the provincial capital Mingster, you almost amount to nothing!

Jenny and Agatha had thought about asking Rein for help, but firstly, Rein was still undergoing his assessment period, and secondly, Rein himself was merely a Baron after all.

Of course, Rein had potential…

Possibly in a few years, he could become a Viscount.

But in the women’s view, potential remained just that, potential.
